You might have already heard this band, and they are pretty heavy with stuff like "Lotus" but I hope this amazing japanese band gets more exposure! Gonna see them this dec. 16 in Toronto :D!!
Still shocks me how many people don't know this band, they always have awesome choruses.
You're suggestion about Portishead is on point.. I love running into songs that, I don't just like for a day, but stay with me no matter the time period. I'm enjoying building a music library FILLED with songs I'll always like. Props for making that easier ;)
Glory Box is my favorite but All Mine has a great video by one of the best music directors IMO. Chris Cunningham.
Overload by Tricky is really good; but after Portishead I usually listen Goldfrapp (for the sexy factor) or Massive Attack (for the music composition and bass).
Just Listened to Glory Box and immediately recognised it becuase my dad played it all the timee when i was young. I'm goona raid his album collection now and listen to the whole thing. And yes please watch Four Lions the funniset film ive seen this year!
not heard much from Portishead will have to check out the album, don't know my top 10 albums the only one which would definatley be in there ffor sure is Original Pirate Material by The Streets... amazing album
Glad you watched The Fall! :D I believe I suggested it.
check out the movie 'The Tree of Life'
Dummy is also one of my favorite albums ever. I enjoy Poe's first album (self titled) too which isn't entirely related but still a nice female singer. Her later stuff is a bit meh but perhaps you might enjoy it since I'm far too picky.
I've been a massive Portishead fan since 94' when Dummy came out.
Quick Story...When I was 17 in the summer of 97", two friends and I drove 17 hours from Miami to New York, to see Portishead in the now famous" Live at Roseland Concert". We had no idea it would be that epic. To this day, it is still the best concert I've ever experienced!
@KatharineJovey Yeah, but it's directed by Clint Eastwood, so I'm already all in. I know you think theater viewings are unnecessary, but think about all the great films coming to save this bland year of movies: Mission Impossible 4, Sherlock Holmes 2, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Tin Tin looks beautiful. If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan you shouldn't miss it. Moriarty is in it and that's all I needed to hear. I'm in this winter.
You forgot the best song on the album... "Roads".

Yes, love them. It's Beth Gibbons btw. lol.

:) I live in Portishead, I wouldn't describe it as a shit-whole, however it does give its youth a strong aspiration to escape it as soon as possible.

Portishead is about 20 minutes drive from where i live....Its a shithole!
Still i totally agree, a great band, many say they are "underrated" but i disagree.
They have headlined Glastonbury Festival loads of times.
PS The last gewd film i watched was La Haine, its French and is super-duper good!

hmm, how is it that whenever I look for clips from "Waking life" I end up on your channel? :)
Two movies I've watched recently and liked are both about planets coming our way. "Another earth" and "Melancholia"
