  • He is so beautiful! I want to hug him! What a trooper!

  • aww

  • He's not deaf is he?

  • @lovelittlecats No, he has Apraxia.

  • I don't get it, he can say "pa pa pa" but then "paver" comes out ayvah

  • @kingnor2 That's just the nature of a speech disorder. Nothing to "get" really, it's a mixed bag of things he can and cannot say. That being said, this is an old video, there are new ones up of Julian that show his amazing progress.

  • Your son is so precious! As a teacher, it is encouraging to see you working with your son. So many times we see parents who refuse to even admit that their child has a problem, and to see you working with him is SO encouraging!!! THANK YOU!!!! Keep up the great work!

  • Your son seems to be doing so great, I work with three boys with Autism and one mom said to me once, "You have to kinda give up being a mom and pick up being a teacher." I see you've done this and it's such a blessing!

  • Aww he is soo cute=) my almost 5 year old DD has Verbial Aperxia and Devemontial Dyspraxia and I think she is also on the ADS just with the few things that she does and has that does not co-inside with these 2 disorders. she just started to "stimm" again like she will sit in her baby swing and swing for hrs it seems like. she will also spin like crazy in chairs that spin. she also has SPD and for the longest time would NOT sit in sand and not like to be dirty at all.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • your son is so adorable.. he'll be a little ladies' man!

  • @Cizzar

    Thank you so much!

  • how can I receive very good intensive speech therapy for my daughter who has developmental apraxia of speech? what type of therapy is he receiving? I reallty need help beacause she is already 9 years old!

  • @vic485

Talk first to school, then county. Try to get a social worker to point you in the proper direction for intervention. Hard for me to tell you what to do not knowing where you live and what resources may be available to you, but I'm sure there is someone in the school system or the county that will be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

  • You are an amazing mother! You work with Jullian so well and he seems like such a happy kid. My son has apraxia as well and it's so important to me that he stays happy. Thank you for posting this. Apraxia awareness is so important!

  • @lisayunt Thank you so much! It is inspiring to hear from so many people! Julian is doing great, I need to post a new video soon!

  • What type of therapy helped him talk so well? Was it speech therapy? A certain type? I am so encouraged for my son!

  • Oh my god, this reminds me of myself! im 17 years old now, i can speak really clear now, but can't say some odd words.. :L

  • How old is he? My son is almost 3 and your son seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of him, he scored less than the 3rd percentile for Apraxia severity. I really hope your son is progressing, you are doing such a GREAT job helping him!

  • hugs i have aspergers and i was in speech therapy from 2 years old until i was 10 years old and every once in a while i still struggle with words

  • my son is 6 yrs old and non verbal I really want my son to be able to do what yours can do!

  • You have beautiful children :D

Your son reminds me of mine, who is apraxic and has PDD-NOS.

Best of luck to you Julian! You can do it!

  • He is so cute:)

  • @brlaranjo

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

when did you start noticing that your son had a speech problem? Mine is 22 months and I think he has apraxia but everyone keeps telling me that boys are slower and they grow out of it eventually. My gut tells me it's apraxia and I'm just wondering how early did Julian start showing signs. Thanks!

  • @playinpearls

Hi, sorry for the delay. We have been getting Julian assessed for one developmental thing or another since he was 14 months old, however the focus has almost always been on speech. He was finally diagnosed w/ PDD-NOS (on the Autism spectrum) several weeks ago. I say TRUST YOUR GUT and get your son assessed. Even if it turns out to be that he's just a late talker, it's better to try early intervention and not need it than to not get it and have needed it. Good luck!

  • Hes talking really well, Has he been assessed as having "severe" apraxia? Because he seems so good. My son has been assessed recently and he is no where near your little boy. Was just wondering what qualifies as severe? or is it that he has made alot of progress, since been assessed.

  • @rensyg

Yes, he has come a very, very long way and progressed a great deal. He was severe b/c he was almost totally non-verbal not even too long ago. Even since this video he has made tremendous progress, I plan on posting more videos soon. He has been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and will begin ABA therapy soon. I'm hopeful for this as well, as we need to focus on social skills and having him use what language he has acquired in a functional manner. Good luck to you!

  • Oh he is just THE cutest thing ever! Loving his talking, he is doing SO well!!
