  • Awesome!!! Love this with the banjo music added.

  • this is the best verison since The Chuck Wagon Gang

  • lõl_ï_fÉël_sÖ_lôNëlý_tØdáÿ

  • Y'all do this very well. Most people don't get the tempo right.

  • Love your music, also the end"Thank you music lovers". Let's all have a little humor along with our music!

  • BEUTIFUl!

  • when you say thank you music lovers at the end, it makes it sound cheap and cheesey.Let the music stand on its own without saying that. You say it at the end of every song you do and it makes it sound like youre making light of the song and it sounds real dumb too, but you are from the south.

  • @latabanza I do believe that your comment was uncalled for. Rather your choice of words was uncalled for. Mr Greer exudes a wonderful charisma and his comments add to the enjoyment of the videos. Constructive criticism is one thing, but rudeness is unnecessary. But what do I know, I'm from the South too.

  • There's nothing better than tight harmony. Thanks for making me smile.

  • I was priviledged to see them in the last performance ever at 328th performance hall in Nashville. It snowed that night, anyone remember? Great performance!!

  • LoL before I realized it, my foot was tappin with the people on the stage in unison. Great performance!

  • wow , it sound so good

  • Sigh. So nice -:)

  • If you'd leave the name of your town I might stop and visit and share some tunes sometime.

  • My grandad loved this song, i'm not that religious just got dragged along on sundays when i couldnt get away quick enough haha. This has a lot more fun to it than the morbid souls that sung at our church. Sounds tinny you need to redo it, after all, its been 4 years ;-)

  • @oneandonlybatfoy Yeah, I know. We need to do this one in front of the grandfather clock.

  • @mrgreer51 Yes please, and i'm sure i speak for all your subscribers and fans.

  • @mrgreer51 Please do.

  • Great!

  • Awesome I love this song, fantastic rendition and I love the banjo. Any chance of doing a HQ version. Peace form Melbourne, Aus : )

    PERO SUPER VACANA

  • Hey applesweeter,,,I've got a question for YOU?! Are you retarded?! Why would you post that crap on a video like this? What a douche. Double up on the meds granny.

  • Great performance from a fan in London. UK. You tube global fun! Keep it up!

  • Yes. We are about 45 miles west of Springfield, where MSU is located.

  • cool. im about an hour from springfield going east on I-44. i used to travel and play with a group called The New Horizons out of Lebanon Mo. they haved sang together for alot of years.

  • @mrgreer51 very good music

  • wow...! nice voices there...! not less for the music...

  • Still waiting on your "house" version!!.It would be awesome to see you and the family playin this on front of your grand father clock like in your other vids! It may be a bit clearer? Great tune Great family. Thanks

  • You are right. We need to do that.

  • Thank You Albert Edward Brumley for giving us a beautiful song U guys are perfect

  • His son Al lives not far from here, and I have had the privilege to play for him several times. This one is his signature song.

  • Bass sounds to be a basic Root - 5th pattern with some chromatic lead in notes on key chord changes.

  • Yep, that's pretty much it.

  • @mrgreer51 so is he a songwriter or just his son

  • As far as I know, Al just sings his dad's songs. He has a really nice baritone voice.

  • what did you play for the bass. like could you tab it and post it somewhere?

  • She pretty much played a straight country pattern on the bass. It's really simple.

  • GREAT JOB WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?

  • EXCELLENT! Thanks!

  • Bravo! One of the best versions on YouTube! I am DEFINITELY a fan of banjophil and his wonderful family! Thank you so much, Phil, for sharing!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • To all the nice people from other countries and cultures that comment on Mr.Greer's family and their music. You see the heart and soul of America in this family. A lot of people think of Hollywood and the Hip-Hop and Pop culture as America. Its not, Its Fads that fade away. The Greer family is for real, They never fade away.

  • Thanks, Hardburly. You are right, there are many, many families like ours. Some play music, some don't, but they all love each other and have fun together.

  • Mrgreer...as a father you have blessed me.. you have inpired me to get instruments into the hands of my children. I am such a lover of bluegrass, but you all have the annointing of Christ on you. This one song sent me into a tear fit for about 10 min becuase of realizing the promise that I have in Christ. Thank you and your beautiful family for being doers of the word.

  • Hardburly, I couldn't have said it any better! Definitely a thumbs up :o)

  • @Hardburly I agree......NYC isn't America It's places like Enterprise, Alabama.

  • e dificil expressar e comentar a beleza da muzica .isto sendo feito em familia e fantastico, muito lindo .parabens

  • Is that Portuguese? Babelfish translations:

difficult e to express and to comment the beauty of the muzica .isto being made in fantastic, very pretty family and congratulations

  • Love it! My heart sings with you.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • suhweet

  • Dear All,

I have some question about psychology and sociology:

    (1) Why do we want to we like birds in the sky?

    (2) Why do we dream about flying?

    (3) what is the "magic of flying" that motivate people to write a song about it?

    (4) How does flying related to Americans' culture? Is that about freedom?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstrom!!! :)

  • this isnt a song about flying around like a bird. its a religous ballad about flying away to a home in heaven.

  • well in my opinion it is the last frontier the sky we cannot conquor it is the to be not bound by gravity escape with out limits and since america is the land of opportunity then the idea to find that energy and wish to never go beyond our wildest dreams and surge ever forward with out bounds

  • This song references the rapture. I believe it's explained in Theselonians.

  • @applesweeter well would u like to be in a prison camp doring the civil war well would u?????????????

  • @applesweeter I learned how to fly over 20 years ago and it's one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. I mean airplane, incidentally. For one explanation..read the poem "High Flght" by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

  • cool, I love the tune.....

  • They look young

  • very good, but even with my pc volume at 5 it was still LOUD

  • You guys are amazing, I hope I can have a Family like yours when I get older =D

    wishing you all well

  • Great Stuff! And Really nice banjo - clean and right on top of the beat. Good harmony.. nobody races to the end...

    And awesome in the finish!

  • Fantastic.....loved all ..2:16...harmonies were spot on ...and i loved the banjo..5****s

  • Was this recorded in Springfield Missouri in what used to be called Southwest Missouri State?

  • Yes, during the fall folk festival. Gordon McCann recorded it.

  • you all rock. keep the faith

  • Beautiful!!

  • Ok, ok. I've watched several of you vids and am hooked. Under what label would I find this CD of Emily's you keep mentioning?

  • It's not on any label. It's just a locally produced project.

  • Congratulations on your lovely family. I have reviewed all of your posted videos and must say that you are truly a blessed man. Im sure your lovely daughters cherish their memories of sitting together with you and playing music. Now that they are both married, I bet they look forward to having their children sitting with their Papa while you teaches them to play as well. I have two young children and hope to be as blessed as you are someday.

  • I've reviewed some of your songs and I have to say, if this is your family- then post it EVERYWHERE, as this world needs to see what can come of staying together and being just that------ a FAMILY-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... yes, we all play , also.....from generations ago.. thats what appalachian people do..... heritage and pride.. god bless you people forever.........

  • Thanks. The family is kind of growing up lately. Both of the girls on this video recently married, but both sons-in-law are great, so we're happy with it.

  • you girls harmonize as well as the Peasall Sister. great job!

  • lol!

  • GREAT JOB

  • thanks for your opinions peoples. im only 13 so i may change in the future. who knows.

  • This music is great! I'm not usually into christian music...probably cuz im an athiest...now don't get me wrong! religion and christianity is wonderful and everything, but it's just not me. alot of people think bad things of athiests but here's my view: i can't seem to get my mind to grasp the possibility of an afterlife. i believe that as long as you're a good person though, you'll have a good afterlife, if there is an one. I have absolutely NOTHING against religion.

  • S'alright.. God sent his son for you too! Blessings and peace!

  • I agree with crazynance. Jesus died for you and gave you free choice weather to accept it or not. Just please never forget that when you die it is to late to change your mind.

The bible plainly says that being a good person will not get you to heaven. Don't get me wrong we need good people, Lord knows there's not enough out there, but that alone won't get you there. You must believe and ask for Gods grace and forgiveness.

God bless you and good luck with your future decisions.

  • This is great. I recently got saved and hearing this inspirational music is wonderful. If there are any others out there who have recently found the lord, please message me.

  • Hurrah for you! Making a decision for Christ is the most important decision in a person's life. Nothing else comes close.

  • You made the right choice zyfoxmaster. A few weeks ago the Lord saved me from drinking. Honestly. I don't need that filth in my veins. I was listening to the "Oh Brother where out Thou" soundtrack, and this song re-routed my thinking. Drinking booze is no way to live: it's a way to die. I hope this message finds you, and finds you in good health and good time.

  • I know you can't hear the "Thunderous Applause" from our house, but, it's here! From your new fans and "music lovers" *****5 stars!

  • just love this video great job 5 *****

  • You guys are GOOD! Next time I'm in The U.S., I'll drop by with a guitar or two.

  • top notch

  • WOOOOO!!!! Thats some great harmony ya'll got going on. And on a wonderful hymn to boot!

  • Great version of my favorite hymn. You did a great job!!!!

  • great job. But answer 1 question. Why is it that certain groups don't use drummers?

I'm only asking because the style of music that I play, no one wants drums in their music.

  • i am a drummer and a guitarist and i kind of agree. but in my oppinion it takes away the feeling to the the lyrics and strings. but thats only my oppinion

  • I think a Celtic drum would work.. just not a full 'drum kit'.

  • mayb. but not in my oppinion

  • Simply wonderful ! :)

  • yall ever do "angel band", the carter brothers classic?

  • We have sung it a few times around the house. It's another good song for harmony.

  • i love this song, great rendition! theres a magic that happens when you get a tight harmony between people that are family/related. the voices are so similar its like hearing one voice in the blend of a chord.

  • I LOVE IT GOOD SONG THANK YOU

  • I LUVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV IT!!! love the banjo and the rhythm!!!!!!!!!,, LOVE IT ALL!

  • wow, that was really good! i love the ending!

  • We have two other Gospel numbers up here: "I'll Have a New Life" and "Out of His Great Love." We're kind of scatterd out these days, because the girls are away at college. It's hard to get together sometimes.

  • good banjo player. who is he?

  • It's just me, banjophil. My real job is a schoolteacher.

  • Awesome! I love this song, "O brother where art thou" is in my dvd player right now. Is there anything with strings your family doesn't play? I am learning guitar and have been itching to rescue dad's old banjo from the closet I wonder if that will make it harder to learn both at once....
