im not going to "reply" to ivrainy's comment, because its a year old, and that person might not care at ALL what I think, but I was a bit suprised and confused my the comment. The paint they used was fairly light, if I had to say if it was light or dark, I would say light. Shure its not WHITE, but it ahs color in it. And they told us WHY they couldent make a real headboard... they didint have the room. Look at the room!! its TINY!

How is gray relaxing exactly?

I had a gray room at one point and I hated it. (Not to mention that my room was huge compared to the room she is working in.)

Rule of thumb:

* In small rooms pick lighter colors to give the illusion of more space. (Darker colors close in rooms.)

* Darker colors are okay when you want a large room to feel a bit more cozy and confined.

Bedrooms aren't caves so why would you want them "as dark as possible" exactly?

But another rule of thumb:

Make sure you pick a shade lighter than the color you want your room to be.

When paint dries it tends to darken up a shade

To avoid the "perfect" shade on a card being too dark on your wall I would advise picking the color one shade lighter.

(The color above the color you want on the gradient cards they give you.)

They also sell test jars of paint as well. If you aren't sure the color you picked will dry right maybe try a test jar.

there are three things that will improve your bedroom when you are allergic..

first get rid of the carpet..all the polls and fabricmites will hide there

secondly..wash your curtains, pillowcases etc with Neem. Do not rinse..it smells not so nice at first but the fabric has dried the smell is gone. Also rub the matraze with a water and Neem. The Mites hate Neem and that will make the air in the room much better for you.

thirdly..put the matraze on a frame. That way the matraze can air out and dry..you lose about half a liter of sweat every night and lots of that goes into you matraze.

I saw an awesome idea in InsideOut magazine - take a large white canvas (the width of your bed) and paint a black "antique" looking headboard on it. It can be any shape, just make sure it is symmetrical on both sides! Hang on the way at the height of your bed. Obviously this doesn't look "real" but its a really cool modern way to deal with small spaces!

I have found that going to places like Home Depot and getting them to cut lumber for you is a great idea. I just built a nice set of shelves for cheap. Everybody listen: Don't be afraid to make things. Ordinary people can do it. You can do it too. You can make headboards from a piece of pine wood.  Just put some varnish on it afterword, and it will look great. Also, you can make your own bed too, if you like.
