Are the 2 top comments seriously about how the "black lady" is wrong about how Bill hicks went to heaven? Where do you think he wanted to go? hell?... -_-
oh, and never mind Jay Leno, lets just talk about how the "black lady" should have said "Bill Hicks is in hell", smh.
I'm glad that at least some people have their eyes open enough, who truly listened to what Bill Hicks had to say. The people here bashing the lady at the end have sadly missed the point of much of what BH has had to say. I'd say that these people have watched BH simply because of the buzz words "religion, politics, drugs", but have clearly missed the point of what BH was saying. They only see the surface. The distraction... Too busy hearing their thoughts through BH to understand the subtext.
Here's a good BH quote to reiterate my point against the jerks condemning the lovely lady at the end:
"It's time for a new philosophy, folks. One based on yes, the principles of Jesus, which were love your brother as yourself, because you know what? He is yourself. Literally. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! We are literally all one."
that was a good documentary on BH, but that was sort of a strange and inappropriate ending (with the black woman talking about god and BH going to heaven), since BH didn't believe in any of that.
Holy shit the black chick at the end fucked up the whole thing for me. I was ok with Jay... I was ok with Letterman. But what the fuck was that bitch at the end going on about?
@LEONIDASTREEHUNDRED Not true at all. Hicks clearly believed in a higher power, and clearly believed that Jesus represented the same power that influenced his own beliefs. Whether, in fact, Jesus ever existed is irrelevant. Hicks was also clearly agnostic but recognized the message of Christ as compatible with his own. For someone who, by default, believes in God, to say the things she said at the end took guts and courage. Most "Christians" would not agree with what she said.
@newrealization12 It's exactly the same as when Bill HIcks himself talks about Jesus as one of the 'good guys' we kill while allowing George Michael to live. Hicks definitely believed in 'ascension', the existence of Jesus (I, on the other hand, doubt his existence) and clearly wasn't an atheist, but believed in at least a 'higher self' if not a 'higher being'. Anything outside of pure agnosticism or atheism could be considered 'religion shit'. by someone. ;-)
@TheSimonScowl Hicks Believed in the existence of Jesus? Please direct me to the video of him saying that. I do however recall a bit of him joking about the bible not mentioning dinosaurs. He mention evolution in his act many times. "Ever notice how people who don't believe in evolution look really unevolved?" -Bill Hicks. I'll agree that he may have believe in some sort of higher power because he said he believe god put mushrooms on the earth to speed up evolution but organized religion is shit
@newrealization12 One of my favorite Hicks lines: "Jesus - murdered; Martin Luther King - murdered; Malcolm X - murdered; Gandhi - murdered; John Lennon - murdered; Reagan... wounded."
But we're not talking about Jesus. We're talking about whether Hicks believed in a higher power... and whether the lovely woman at the end of the documentary is a religious zealot or not. I GREW UP AROUND FUNDIES... she is NOT one of them; just someone who still believes loosely in the God 'myth' (as most do).
@PoeticJustice05 How does that make him religious? He was brought up by religious parents so religion was always present in his life and that's why a lot of his material include religious references. In fact he mocks his fathers belief's and attitude toward the bible a number of times. I don't know if he was an agnostic or an atheist but I'm damn sure he wasn't a theist.
@PoeticJustice05 Perhaps you're right. I don't know if he was ever asked about it or if that was recorded. It's just another reason to be sad about his death. I would've loved to see him grow up as a person and as a comedian. Maybe it was for the best... seeing the return of a Bush to the presidency, Iraq, Afghanistan, Rebecca Black... would make him snap!
@travellinman321 There's a french comedian doing work like hicks. Dieudonne is his name. One of the guys who posted his vids has put english subtitles. They're very average and I will help him improve on the translation for an english audience because it is well worth it. Dieudonne is the french hicks in my books. Extremely talented and also facing mass censorship because he's talking sense much the same as Hicks did. Raw, intelligent humour. Check him out :)
The star that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
Salute to you Bill. Like you said yourself, there IS NO death and life is only a dream - we are all really one consciousness and the imagination of ourselves. See you on the other side man.
9:09 A corporate fucking shill, another whore in the capitalist gangbang, there's a price on his head, everything he says is suspect, and every word coming out of his mouth is now like a turd falling into my drink.
By your words, Jay, it's clear that you never understood Hicks. You probably can't tell the difference between him and Leary.
Sorry. I was there the first night Bill and Sam (Kinison) started. It was the Comedy Anex in Houston. I was one of the 3 bar tenders ("Al, the bartender") and I was there 2 years. Kinison started his very first show, and performed, EXACTLY like he did years later. The yells and AHHHHHH was all his and original.
Kinison did not "steal" anything from Bill and neither did Bill take anything from Sam. They each hit the stage, from Sunday's open mic night till the day either died.
The black lady at the end doesn't get Bill at all. The last place Bill would like to be is heaven. He'd want to tell everyone on earth how big of a hypocrite they really are and maybe, just maybe, witness a little bit of positive change happening. Not doing standup gigs in fairytale land.
Ohhhhh ! Jay makes me sick ! I like that black lady at the end. I hope she knew bill and didn't just comment on his life.
I would love to hear bill comment on how jay fucked over conan. And to tell Dave to fuck off ! Even though I like Dave waaaay better than jay lameo. I saw bills mom on Dave and I can se where he got his sence of humor from. Funny lady.
Robert Morton is a fucken hipocryt. I'd be ashamed of having him and Leno on this documentary. This documentary is a fucken joke! It feels like a big fuck you to Bill!!
@travellinman321 Some say he is, but covertly in the form of his alter ego Alex Jones. They have eerily similar mannerisms and speech patterns sometimes.
RIP-????? He's not sleeping off a light case of indigestion you fuck wits. And who the fuck invited jay fucking leno to the fuucking party, shit, i mean bill deserved better than that.....
That Thea Vidale clip was a horrible, horrible way to end the video. Dumb cunt thinks there's a god AND thinks Bill's in heaven? If there's an afterlife, that mofo is surfing the lake of fire and listening to music that fucking ROCKS.
@travellinman321 Bill Hicks is just a brilliant man, shame he died too young, he makes me laugh because he just said whatever the hell he pleased and just didn't give a shit, i wish i had've had the chance to see him Live on stage
Wonderful documentary...helps me understand Bill better. Can't say I've always agreed with him, but I think he's an excellent man on stage. Not necessarily a comedian, but a great entertainer...original and with heart.
@IXB34RXI I get that that's a mistake, not being medically correct. There are easy ways to give people cancer, with an oral weaponized vaccination perhaps dumped into a cocktail.
@travellinman321 I think he'd see through the bullshit, left/right paradigm. I also feel that 911 has had an effect on comedians like Maher and Stewart. Those guys are funny, but I don't particularly like their politics. Don't know if you're a fan of Dennis Miller but that guy's comedy has completely tanked - my 2 cents. I'd like to think that Hicks would've leaned towards "progressive" and shed the "liberal" thing.
What's wrong with what that woman said?? I thought it was excellent. Bill believed in god. Not human's ridiculous interpretation based on hate and fear...but god as the source of all consciousness. the one out of which the many forms of reality came to be through subjective separation. the source we draw back into after physical death. he talked of this in his acts constantly.
No censorship in heaven? Uhhh, I would think there would be. You have no freewill in heaven because it is perfectly good. There is no censorship because there is nothing needing censored. Bill had to be censored here because he cursed and blasphemed God. So, yes and no-- there is and isn't a censor.
@travellinman321 "..before anyone else, he would've been a thorn in the side of corporate military tyrants everywhere"
-Absolutely.
Although his untimely demise could be perceived as "at the hands of a 'NWO' agenda", it is always hard to actually substantiate and prove it..YET at 32 years old speaking the things that the majority dare not speak, it does seem 'convenient' and painfully ironic that he isn't around now.
They have David Letterman and Jay Leno on this? two of the biggest media-whores but no Maynard? They need make a long documentary about Bill Hicks, and it should not involve any bullshit from the media.
@xXLazarus23Xx True to that. Where the fuck is Maynard James Keenan? What about the Tool album Ænima which contains the songs "Eulogy" which is dedicated to Bill and "Third Eye" which has one of Bills famous drug lines?
While it certainly seems incongruous to have Jay Leno on this, the truth is..you all dont KNOW him...hating Leno..or Letterman..or what he did or would think. Sure, it seemed like he would have despised Leno being on this, based on the only information we have, which is second-hand, or from his act, but you or I dont know the true nature of anyones relationship outside of your own life.
Hicks seemed very religious to me in his way, and I think he would have liked what Thea said at the end.
To SeeHearSpeakLaugh: Dennis Leary really stole his jokes. Look at the videos EXHIBIT A: Dennis Leary vs Bill Hicks. It`s xeroxed. As for Carlin, he was a master, just like Hicks. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoyed them. Thumbs up.
I don`t know why, but I want to punch Letterman in the face with a knight`s metal glove. I mean, I know why, but the argument is so complex I can`t even put it into words. Anyway, Bill was THE comedian, next to Carlin. R.I.P.
The concluding nonsensical comment from that pious woman is a disgrace of genocidal proportions. This sort of vacuous rhetoric is exactly why so many people around the world consider Americans to be religious crackpots. What a crying shame.
@Otzmatron i thought it was a lovely sincere thing to say. i didn't sense any excess piety in it. i got that she loved the guy personally and was expressing affection. it's actually rhetoric like yours that's based on interpreting a personal statement as something political/religious that creates conflict where there wasn't one, most likely to satisfy some empty hatred of your own self and that breeds a dialogue of assholes. that's america.
If Bill was alive today imagine the payback for what Letterman did by copping out he could have done by the affairs that Letterman had with his female staff! Talk about hypocrisy! More materail and kudos to Bill! :)
"Correct mistakes that where made on his behalf" does Letterman mean to say that he seriously doesn't see that it was the censors mistake or his personal mistake for not letting that air? Because I was already pissed at them for selling out their own names for TV censor and ultimately other performers.
Things have only gotten worse for those of us who are awake and aware of all that is happening in our media, our country, our minds, our sex lives. Bill lived in a time before iPods, black presidents, predator drones, and 24/7 internet porn. He would've loved the it and hated it just as much as he did the 80's and 90's. Rest in peace Bill. Rest in peace.
@zuxzux I said "loved it and hated it". He probably would've found it ridiculous how little has changed despite the "revolutionary" historical significance of it. Bill was always about calling out bullshit, and you have to admit Barack Obama's full of it.
Thea Vidale closed the video fucking annoying. Some fairy tale shit to make it sound like an oh so good happy ending. Bill Hicks is finally jumping around with jesus on a fluffy cloud.
meh...
Anyway this was a really good dokumentary about one of the greatest comedians ever.
I do not watch tv. I had never heard of Bill Hicks. I am so glad this was posted so I could "hear" him, really hear him . Wake up - unplug from the Matrix. M
Maybe the heaven part, but I think he would have agreed with everything else. A common misconception of Bill that people have is that he didn't believe in God, but he did just not in the way everyone else viewed God.
The man was so far ahead of his time it's scary. He knew what was going on in the world and had the balls to speak of it, you have to admire that. Everything he's ever said still applies to this day and it's fucking heart breaking to think that we are still getting worse and worse as a global society. He is a genuine hero in my mind and may his legacy continue for the rest of time. I think and hope it will
Bill Hicks was not just fearless, but a bona fide comedic and dramatic genius. Had he lived he would have been so huge. And the vote stolen from Gore? The vote stolen from Kerry? The 9-11hoax used to embroil the US in the Middle East?
...Well, Cheney probably would've had him assassinated first. (Crazy world we're living in!)
8:53 No Bill...THANK YOU very much....YOU have been GREAT......It is too bad though, I do not know how I missed you when you where here in your hay day.It only compounds the fact that I miss you even more that your gone.I guess I really missed out HUH....I promise to keep my eyes open and be a bit more aware.Goodbye you big ol' comedic alarm clock.
Jay Leno should not have been in this documentary because it was more degrading to hear him talk about Bill. Jay doesn't have a clue about why Bill was so brilliant.
well bill maybe gone, but hey atleast we still have carlos mencia, carrot top, mr.tanner from full house and those other "oh so hilarious" guys! man, aren't we fortunate?....
Bill could not have remained true to himself if he had been, or allowed himself to be, absorbed into the mainstream media. In Letterman, and perhaps even Leno, we see performers who were once inclined to unpalatable truths, but who felt a greater need for job security, which, certainly during his life, Bill never seems to have had. The blessing of the modern era is that, pro rata, we have so much more of Bill's musings preserved than, say, Lenny Bruce.
Leno??? Jenni?? OMG now that's funny! The Letterman show was the only network show that introduced Bill Hicks to me, and then Comedy Central later on (back when they used to air stand-up shows) Loved watching and listening to his personal buddies talk about their friend! Thanks for posting!
Given his revelation once again of his true colours in the Tonight show fiasco, it's sad to see a man who once championed change and integrity fall so far, and does make his presence here seem like something antithetical to the ethos of Bill; an attempt to pull in more viewers/ buyers by the presence of a "big name". Considering Bill's rant about how he sold out, I presume this is another example of "'Scuse me! 'Scuse me! Man with big balls is comin' through".
When I first saw Bill Hick's face in the AEnema album from Tool I never thought much of it. but not until a few weeks ago I heard he was a comedian, so i decided to check him out, to see whether he was halarious, or sucked (like most comedians today). He is definitly halarious. I loved his stand up. Then i found out he died :(. I'm sad that I missed all this and found out only a few weeks ago. RIP Bill Hicks

No censorship in heaven? Uhhh, I would think there would be. You have no freewill in heaven because it is perfectly good. There is no censorship because there is nothing needing censored. Bill had to be censored here because he cursed and blasphemed God. So, yes and no-- there is and isn't a censor.

They need make a long documentary about Bill Hicks, and it should not involve any bullshit from the media.
xXLazarus23Xx 10 months ago 41

The concluding nonsensical comment from that pious woman is a disgrace of genocidal proportions. This sort of vacuous rhetoric is exactly why so many people around the world consider Americans to be religious crackpots. What a crying shame.
Otzmatron 1 year ago 4
@Otzmatron i thought it was a lovely sincere thing to say. i didn't sense any excess piety in it. i got that she loved the guy personally and was expressing affection. it's actually rhetoric like yours that's based on interpreting a personal statement as something political/religious that creates conflict where there wasn't one, most likely to satisfy some empty hatred of your own self and that breeds a dialogue of assholes. that's america.

"Correct mistakes that where made on his behalf" does Letterman mean to say that he seriously doesn't see that it was the censors mistake or his personal mistake for not letting that air? Because I was already pissed at them for selling out their own names for TV censor and ultimately other performers.
Or is it the other way around?

Things have only gotten worse for those of us who are awake and aware of all that is happening in our media, our country, our minds, our sex lives. Bill lived in a time before iPods, black presidents, predator drones, and 24/7 internet porn. He would've loved the it and hated it just as much as he did the 80's and 90's. Rest in peace Bill. Rest in peace.
FireAndFlames 1 year ago
@FireAndFlames What problem would Bill have with a black president?
zuxzux 1 year ago
@zuxzux I said "loved it and hated it". He probably would've found it ridiculous how little has changed despite the "revolutionary" historical significance of it. Bill was always about calling out bullshit, and you have to admit Barack Obama's full of it.

Maybe the heaven part, but I think he would have agreed with everything else. A common misconception of Bill that people have is that he didn't believe in God, but he did just not in the way everyone else viewed God.
Grandmasterderek 1 year ago
@david0861513636 bill believed in god, not what man has said about god (i.e. christianity/jesus) to try and control the masses

Alcagaur 1 year ago
Leno??? Jenni?? OMG now that's funny! The Letterman show was the only network show that introduced Bill Hicks to me, and then Comedy Central later on (back when they used to air stand-up shows) Loved watching and listening to his personal buddies talk about their friend! Thanks for posting!
scotchrks 1 year ago
Given his revelation once again of his true colours in the Tonight show fiasco, it's sad to see a man who once championed change and integrity fall so far, and does make his presence here seem like something antithetical to the ethos of Bill; an attempt to pull in more viewers/ buyers by the presence of a "big name". Considering Bill's rant about how he sold out, I presume this is another example of "'Scuse me! 'Scuse me! Man with big balls is comin' through".
Alcagaur 1 year ago
When I first saw Bill Hick's face in the AEnema album from Tool I never thought much of it. but not until a few weeks ago I heard he was a comedian, so i decided to check him out, to see whether he was halarious, or sucked (like most comedians today). He is definitly halarious. I loved his stand up. Then i found out he died :(. I'm sad that I missed all this and found out only a few weeks ago. RIP Bill Hicks
