srmastertech i have a 05 f250 6.0 turbo diesel. it has a miss like it is running out of fuel between about 2300 rpm to 3000rpm. Sometimes even higher rpm. usually only while in a pull with foot in throttle. dealer sid i have 3 bad injectors. cant afford new ones. is there a way to try to clean mine before buying new ones. also i put a higher fuel pressure reg. on it. dealer recomended to do that. the one i had said 04 on side new one says 10 on side. Good or bad idea? help would be great. thanks
Your concern does sound like an injector concern. I usually recommend that if 4 or more injectors are misfiring, replacement them all. If only 3 are failing, you could fix those 3, but other could fail, some as soon as the next cold start. Doing them all at once would be the best option. Be sure to have the fuel pressure tested as low pressure is a root cause of many injector failures.
To go along with my previous question. Is there any other service I should perform while I have the valve covers off? I bought my 2006 F350 used with 110K miles in 2008 and it nows has 124K miles.
I would be sure to test fuel pressure. Low dynamic fuel pressure is usually the root cause of why injectors failed. If your pump gelled, that could have caused the damage. But now that you are replacing all 8, its worth testing again to verify you don't take out new injectors.
Hi srmastertech, I will be replacing all eight of the injectors in my 06 F350 as the dealer mechanic diagnosed 5 of 8 as "sticking" (I believe from fuel gelling in my primary fuel filter last winter). Your videos have given me the confidence to do this myself, though I am amatuer. I will need to get some of the tools you used. Can you list the tools that you use doing this job, such as 8mm deep socket, 1/4 drive or T30, 3 inches, 3/8 drive etc? Your help is very much appreciated. Great work
@chadd01971 The common drive sockets are in deep and shallow, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm. the only bolts that use a 12mm are the valve covers. Wrenches are 11/16, 3/4.13/16. 7/8 if the fuel nut turns a 15/16. Wrenches are the same, 8mm 10mm 12mm (for valve covers) 15mm 17mm (fuel barrel nuts if they spin. I use mostly all 3/8 drive, only 1/4 drive for 8mm and 10mm. There is 2 torx bits, t40 for the injector and t30 for the oil rail. I show how you need a short t30 in the video.

@srmastertech sorry .... also it does NOT white smoke any. or if it does its not enough to were i can see it from my mirror. Again any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks
Hello srmastertech i have a early 2004 f350 built nov of 03 with a 6.0 when i start it cold it will run rough and pump out a lot of blue smoke that smells like raw fuel. if i just touch the pedal a bit i don't think the rpm even change it will smoothen out and 95% of the smoke will be go.this truck still has the split shot injection i never had it reflashed after hearing so many horror story's.anyway is this a bad injector.i also have an engine lt on .it said something about the egr flow
Your cold start concern does sound like a injector problem. I do see this a lot and it is usually always caused by low fuel pressure. The reflash just covers it up. Test your fuel pressure, static and dynamic, the isolate what injector/s are misfiring. If there is at least 4 misfiring, I recommend replacing them all.
OEM injectors will be covered by the Powertrain warranty along with the EGR cooler. Powertrain warranty should cover 5 years, 100K miles. If still under 100K, you can upgrade the warranty to cover to 200K.
Thanks for the reply...so the 303-D111 should suffice then. I'll definitely use the technique you referred to on my other question (part 3?) regarding a screwdriver and a lint free rag.

awesome video...I've had ONE injector acting up for about 2 years now. I do have a couple of questions...regarding the brushes, is it important to use both of the brushes you cite or would the 303-D111 suffice? It is the conical shaped one (larger) although I imagine the 303-D112 is designed to clean the area where the copper crush washer goes? The other question is do I need any special tool to remove the copper crush washer or does it always come out with the injector??
Thanks for posting your question! The bush 303-D111 will work and it is now the replacement brush for the 6.0lit. You are also correct about the D112, it is to clean the flat surface for the copper washer. The copper washer will come out with the injector. The only time I have had one come off was due to the injector being loose and the washer was burned in half from compression entering the fuel system. You should be good to repair!
@420crunk1 The real failure with the injectors are caused by fuel pressure due to lack of changing the fuel filters. If fuel pressure drops below 45psi, there will not be enough lubrication for the injectors and damage will occur.
@srmastertech shit really that would be a good business buy for a 1000 put 2500 in it and sell it for 8000 wow thanks for the advice i think that will be my next project
For that price, they would be in pretty rough shape. Bodies could be damaged, rust, and whatever else there may be. You might put 5 to 6K in it to make it nice.
Yes they do have the copper sealing washers. It's called one or the other, depending on where you look. The workshop manual calls then copper washers, parts department call them compression washers.
Is there anything different I need to do for the 2003 year model for the oil rail?
