The good news is that you can mix this by eye if you want and it will still work just fine. Give us a call at 800-314-6390 and select the prompt for technical support and we will be glad to help.
My scale isn't as sensitive as I had hoped so it is proving impossible to not go completely overboard with the activator. I really only need enough for a few Ts at a time. A better scale isn't in the budget right now.
Is it possible to use tsp or tbsp for the activation powder and the base...to get that 4-10% (activation powder)? I realize that the powder and the discharge probably weigh up differently than they measure by tsp (and unfortunately for me).
how environmentally safe water based discharge printing is. I ask because I started a garment printing business out of my school who lets us use their studio and equipment. but we're only able to use water based ink. because its eco friendly and doesn't require the extra care of palstisol. as a result we're restricted to printing on light colored garments. Discharge printing seemed like a nice way to use water based ink on dark garments. so, is it eco friendly?
6:28 what is "RC" is a waterbase ink o plastisol? sorry I'm not form USA I don't understand some names you give to inks
pd: is fine if I print foilover a discharge base? I mean if I want White or Yellow color and the discharge didn't worked well on the garment? ...or what do you recomend to fix this problem?
Ive just started using discharg ink and ive done some test prints, my discharge when exposed to heat isnt a real true white. i have white pigment, what do you suggest?
@cainie2444doos Discharge is like a bleach. Sometimes your results are very dependent on the garment you're using. Not all garments will be dischargable. You have to ask your supplier for a garment that can be discharged.
Ryan, discharge inks place formaldehyde into the air. By doing this without a ventilation system you are breathing the dangerous fumes. This is illegal in most places in the world and highly unethical to tell people that they can do this without ventilation. The federal laws regulating worker exposure to formaldehyde can be found at Solutions Journal. You should read this before using discharge inks!
and also i try black waterbase ink to print...but when its time to clean it....the ink doesn't completely come off...the screen look not clean....is there anything to completely clean off the ink?
No, discharge has very little if any hand (hand means whether of not you can feel the ink on the shirt) since it's not an ink as much as it's a bleaching process.

You simply want to cure discharge until such time as you can see the effect of the ink.

A good instructional video though it needs a mention about appropriate ventilation. Good ventilation is a must when using discharge inks.

Discharge is great! WHY?? are you lifting the shirt up before you flash dry?
dave62283 2 years ago
To allow airflow and the moisture in the discharge to evaporate.

@pharmerhouse if you preheat you eliminate shirt shrinkage and also help it to stick to adhesive
