  • I believe that dreams are cathartic for our brain. They purge our subconscious waste, such as people we'll never see again, or things that stress us out. Perhaps dreams are just windows into how our subconscious works, and without anything else to focus on, we dwell on the weird conglomeration of thoughts that is our mind.

  • Dreams are one of the greatest mysteries.. What is the purpose of dreaming? Do they have an evolutionary reason or are they just some side effect of our brains?

  • i had a dream a plane crashed in my backyard in it i said "this can't be real, I must be dreaming!" but continued to think it was real

  • When I was 5, I had a dream that my dad hid...eyeballs...under the couch. It was vivid, so the next day, when I woke up.I looked under the couch, my dad saw me and asked "What are you doing?" I didn't answer, but he was very confused lol

  • I experienced sleep paralysis a few weeks ago. It freaked me out

  • The modern Dan is a lil bit chubby, this Dan is better

  • oh god i miss old dan so much

  • i love lucid dreams i've had a few and they were awsum.........like that time i killed the rancore monster and saved oola (starwars btw)

  • I've had the fantastic luck to have had more than a few lucid dreams (never had one lesson!) and I dream vividly almost every time I sleep, even if it's only for a few minutes. What fascinates me is how, no matter what bizarre circumstance we find ourselves in during a dream, we accept it as commonplace. We never think to question our dreamy surroundings (or the strange residents who live there!) Fact #6: Every single person you meet in your dreams is YOU!

  • i see that the foot of discovery likes to sport some hanes to get the job done.

  • i'm always realize im in dream lol when i grow up i found people call that "lucid dream" so i'm always looking forward to sleep. i can do everything!

  • this Dan was so much enthusiastic and engaging :(

  • i had a dream of kissing a guy, before even having had a first kiss. it felt almost exactly the same as a real kiss. how is that possible if 'dreams consist entirely of things we've experienced while awake'? and im not saying that i was looking at myself like i would at a tv, i was actually experiencing it

  • Well, I've had sleep paralysis atleast twice! and Damn it's scary!

  • I never remember having a lucid dream and everyone on this is saying they have loads of them D:

  • Everytime I lucid dream its in the Setting. Its Fall in a Very Familar neighbor hood.

Leaves are falling and lamposts light up a dark sky. Its really pretty, but I can never do much because I am woken by my mothers voice. Seemingly trying to wake me up, Its never there though Im always imagining it.

  • I love lucid dreams. I start flying :)

  • I know what lucid dreams are. I have 'em like twise a month.

  • dreams have many bits of symbolism that u won't find in waking life. they do not depend on the waking life entirely.

  • Dreaming is your minds way of emptying your stress from your emotional recycle bin. Dream = EMPTY RECYCLE BIN

  • i had a lucid dream once.i had a dream that i was in a class room and then i thought some how im dreaming stupid of me i tried to wake up and i did...

  • @pogobat oh ok thanks

  • oh ok thanks

  • Sometimes I take over my dreams without realizing it

  • Who knew the Foot Of Discovery wore Hanes? =3

  • Native Americans belive dreams are related to there theory of 'God' and 'Dog'. Humans are comp[osed with a 50/50 blend of animals and and spirits. Dtreams are the 'God' side of us trying to reach the spirit world.

  • 0:01

  • That's how the videos should be now.

  • i sleepwalk

  • No! I dream in black and white yet I'm 15!

  • ive manage to take over my dreams a few times. its like gta but in ur head.

like every time before i go to sleep i hope i dream. but that was a while ago.

  • I had a dream where I could make anything appear by using my mind (Like the book Daniel X) and I realized I was dreaming and I made a lion and rode through new York! It was awesome

  • sleep paralysis is soo frickin scary =(

  • @Tehandpickid goodness yes, i get so scared when i cant move, and i cant talk

  • @gobackto82 ...i thought i was gonna die =S

  • I always remember my nightmares, but i only remember a dream if its interuptpted midway through by something

  • holy crap.

i lucid dream without even trying to

    I NATURALLY LUCID DREAM

  • i had a dream wen i was walkin past school... the the sun blew up... i dont no y... but it was weird... and cool... hey dan uuhhmm can u subscribe to me im 1022thunderk seeya... peace

  • @1022thunder wowwwww

  • Helen Keller doesn't dream.

    Chuck Norris doesn't sleep.

  • if you say dreams occur to what you do during the day. Then how come i dreamed of a cloned lady bringing me to an earthlike planet with life from a wormhole and time travelling.then how did that happen

  • @sk8lifevolcom25 you saw something like that on TV or in a movie

  • @sk8lifevolcom25 that is probably just a compilation of some random thoughts you had during your life time

  • pause at 0:51 so funny

  • have a dream where you just dont know what it means? well, message me, telling me your dream, and i will get back to you telling you exactly what your dream means! spread the word about me!

  • inception inception inception

  • I feel like you should be a character on The Big Bang Theory.

  • WTF is so mind blowing and hard to understand? You go to sleep because you're body and brain needs rest. Because resting is important , it take a few hours. In those few hours, the brain shuts down most of the "memory department" and the "councious department", so it has to compensate with something. It has to give you something to do. Soo.. you're toughts become reality in those few hours. When you wake up, all you're dreams get "erased" for long term stability and space, and thats it. Hard?

  • Sometimes i have dreams about school missing the bus, and tornadoes........

I once had a dream featuring school, 2 simultaneous tornadoes passing by, almost missing the bus.........and this weird kid with pink lipstick who looked like a mini Marilyn Manson.......

  • I was 2 days up without sleeping but yesterday i went to sleep 10:00 AM and now i woke up 3:30 AM and been up ever since watching vids on YouTube.

  • is it just me, or does dan almost use the same clothes nearly on all of his vids

  • I didn't get chased by peados

  • @DevillsGrin maybe when u were young you happened to read a cartoon or watched a movie and that particular scene from either of them stuck in your subconscious mind. and that subconscious mind subconsciously recall it in your dream

  • The background music makes me remember my summer quite fondly.

  • Sleeping paralysis is so scary...i onced had one and it felt like someone was on my back and i couldn't move, at first i thought it was my dog but then it bited my ear and it's teeth felt like multiple sharp razors...i swear i shitted my pants, i thought it was a demon or smth o.o

  • i dreamed you visited winnipeg. please do.

  • I am missing significant chunks of my brain

  • Once, I dreamed I went to school. and when I woke up it was late.

  • Also, if dreaming is a method of processing data that we have absorbed, if we were to act out a dream perfectly, would that grant us memory of the things that happened during the day? So if you dream of tacos after eating nachos with a walrus, and i eat nachos with a walrus, i will think of/remember eating tacos.

  • Perhaps if dreaming really is a method of processing information, or storing information, we can seed people with information, a puzzle of sorts, so that they dream up an answer that makes sense. Is anyone else thinking of inception or Hitchhikers guide?

  • Comment removed

  • From what I have heard dreams are your brains way of processing your memories and thoughts, storing them in a way you can understand by relating them to things that have happened or have seen before.related to this I have also heard that people solve problems or questions they have through dreaming, like you have a problem you want to sole then wake up the next day and just know possible solutions for it, it could be an actual answer or just a way to find the answer.

  • i am able to do several different types of ablilities in my dreams, such as flying, invisiblity, move things with my mind, breath under water, elemental magic, and more. only ever once did i hav a dream, 3 parts, that they hav come true. i kissed a friend payin spin the bottle, my friend had a miscarriage, and the 3rd...i died.

  • I remember first teaching myself to control my dreams. I was about six. It took years, but I'm finally nearly bad-dream-free! Haha at 17 I can now sleep in peace :) But strangely enough, I'm almost always mostly blind in my dreams, which has been going on since early childhood.

  • I dream only in black and white

  • apparently the foot of discovery is who they've got their hanes on now

  • I'm 16 and as far as I can tell, I dream in black and white.

  • nice, so if you have a child, and only expose them to nice looking people, and wholesome ideas, than they would technically only dream good things

    a cool but unethical experiment

  • I miss beard-less Dan :(

  • my favorite dream is when I feel as if I'm falling, my limbs go upward as if they are being pushed by air going downward, then I wake up and hit the floor

  • 0:01

thumbs up and and all that.

  • @quadrelatera Why do you think that? Because your grade 6 DARE officer told you? Dude wake up certain drugs, ie. psychedelics and marijuana are not bad for you when used properly and can actually be incredibly beneficial when used properly as psychedelics are very spiritual if you want them to be, the effects are akin to years of meditation. Do some research and think for yourself.

  • when i was little i had a reoccurring dream. where a snail transformed into a giant freaking spider and ate me. now i dont recall that ever

    a) entering my brain as a though

    and b) acctually happening. :3

  • I had a dream were I was at work, and all my teeth fell out in my hand. It was really odd.

  • ughh I want the background music!

  • someday we will meet again again and stay. but until then we play and dance all night together under the moon under the stars away from our troubles to gether we can play and meet again in our dreams

    by junichiroe

  • @chestisageek

i live in the city in Australia and im 15 and dream in B & W

  • A couple weird ones I've had were; I was at my friends house and she took all the strings off her bass guitar and put them in a skillet with bacon and cooked them...Another time I was walking a random person's dog but instead of a leash the dog just had his mouth around my hand.. and he wasn't biting.. just holding my hand with his mouth.. I went into a grocery store and a woman got mad I had to explain it wasn't my dog...frustrating dream the dog wouldn't let go

  • Does that mean that in a few years we'll be dreaming in 3D?

  • @countryroo123 you already do, everything that you see is 3D, everything you touch, hear, taste, smell and feel is all 3D.

  • @countryroo123 We already do that, but not in 3d, in 4d, because we have time in our dreams.

  • @countryroo123 We do...

  • @TheDayGamers Huh! See lots of people have said that to me, but I don't. Weird. =S

  • @countryroo123 Don't you already dream in depth perception?

  • @Pruechelan No, when I dream it's like I'm watching a film. I've even dreamt in Cartoon and recently when I watched a film from the 90's the images looked really similar. i.e, Not as HD as films now.

  • Every time I'm in a lucid dream I always think, "OMG LUCID DREAM I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!! I HOPE I DON'T WAKE UP..." and then, for some reason, I wake up. It sucks massively. :P

  • I beg of you to not look at me as a spammer (cause its a free website) but look at me as a person who wants to answer your questions about lucid dreaming, and therefore save you from all the bull shit factoids that ensue. if you have not already, go to lucidipedia. it is free to sign up and has everything you need to become an oneironaut. and its not bullshit because, obviously, I have done so and do not work for these people. also see tim's youtube site.

  • i have a cousin that only dreams in lucid dreams

  • @DontWorryBeHappy208 anyone can do it, just train

  • @DontWorryBeHappy208 The lucky f***er!

  • Two days ago I dreamed about Charlieissocoollike. We had a date and had to go grocery shopping. This was the most awesome dream I've ever had ^_^

  • After watching this, I'm incredibly excited to go to sleep, but I want to stay up to hear more about this. Oh, the irony...

  • I love when you dream of falling, then you shake vigorously when you wake up!

  • Don't remember if I've ever had a lucid dream.

HEY HEY HEY, DAN!! where is the PDBAZ?!?!?!

    related questions, do zombies dream?

  • sometimes i wake up in my dream (still dreaming) and see there is cookies or my cell phone or something on the floor next to my bed that i want to grab . then i start reaching them. and as i notice that those things dont exist, i wake up . sometimes its frustrating as those cookies are not real :(

  • the life you are living right now is a lucid dream, when you die you just wake up, as another person in a different universe where everything is different. then the cycle continues..............................

  • @MrJustinMcdonald

Yeah, I've thought about that, too. Though, if it really was just a lucid dream, then upon realizing that you were dreaming, you'd immediately be able to take control of this reality.

  • Sleep paralysis can be really scary, first time it happened to me I was freaking out but no one could tell because, well because I wasn't doing anything.

  • my mom dreams in black and white :) haha

  • One time i dreamed that i buyed a newspaper, bread and a 3 euros magazine to a guy in a store i know and that i didnt have money but he said me that i could pay later.

2 days later i went to that store and suddenly remember that dream and thought it was real and gave him the 5 bucks i owned him. (he didnt remember it obviously but accept the money)

Never asked for the money back so i dont sound like a retard

  • i read a story that some people who play video games allot have control in their dreams. its very rare for people to have total control but playing video games does add an edge to you when you dream.

  • Thumbs up i you think scientists should create a machine that can record dreams so you can watch them again

  • @WPB626 they already have those machines

  • @WPB626 how many times have you watched inception. i know it's not the same thing but it is kinda similar

  • @WPB626 omg yes

  • @WPB626 That's something I've pondered for a very long time. Dreams have a special meaning to me and I've have several occasions where I've experienced bizarre and very interesting dreams, one of which was where me and a friend literally somehow shared a dream. I've been looking into this stuff ever since and being able to actually record things like this would just be amazingly convenient..thinking of the technology we have today, it just might be possible sometime in the future..

  • @OmegaOwA Hopefully It Will Be Possable Because Of The Dence Area Of The Mind Going Into That Deep State Of Thought Even Those Questions That Stay In Your Mind...Ahh Isnt The Mind An Awesome Thing =)

  • @WPB626 so we can see how screwed up we all are? lmfao. im in

  • @WPB626 No. Make us able to actually relive them......

  • @WPB626 That is a nice dream, but it's impossible.

  • I love lucid dreaming :D

  • And also, sleep paralysis can be so weird...you can get some strange hallucinations...

  • I love lucid dreams! But I can never do anything cool...I just know I'm dreaming. That's pretty much it, I just go with the flow of the dream after that :P

  • your sock is dirty :(

  • wait, so...i've either experienced or thought about hopping onto my dad's back, flying to the moon, eating in a space restaurant with blue people, and then falling into a shark tank?

  • @ZAPdontlook Well, you've thought about your dad and you've thought about flying on somethings back, so in the dream you just put them together. Same with the rest. You thought about blue people and you've eaten in a restaurant.

  • @ZAPdontlook

Yeees... You have at sometime in your life, thought about the moon, aliens and falling into shark tanks... What? You've never ate at a restaurant before?

  • i was about to say, i have never had intercourse in Zero G while goats squirt milk on Jewish people.

  • I had a lucid dream, a few days after hearing about this.. The first thing i did was to prove it, to do so, i slept in my dream, doing so made me wake up and waste a perfectly good Lucid Dream... NOOOOO... Inception!

  • I had a nightmare once that turned into Lucid dream and blanket out most of it

  • I think dreams are a way to do crazy things and not have implications example you dream your skydiving you don't have to pay but it feels real

  • I've had some lucid dreams before, they are really fun because when you realize your dreaming you have control over your dreams and do whatever you want that you wouldn't dare do in real life.

  • i think the poralysis thing is freaky.

  • I have had one of those dreams =O I have them a lot though...... But my first was when I was 8 XD I've thought about dreams a lot, and I'm happy to know I'm not the only one to be interested in them :3

  • haha ive only had a lucid dream once in my life...when i was 5. I was on the playground, and I was crying because I broke my brothers playstation. So we got another one. I broke the other one. As I was crying I thought for a second, and realized I was dreaming. I started playing on the playground with my friends and thats about it.

  • thats deep dude... i can't fall asleep if i'm thinking thing i just have to cope with the random images that flash thru my mind until i fall asleep i never remember when i fall asleep

  • Often my dreams are about me being an antelope and how hard it is to survive in the life in a horns-over-hooves reality.

    That's just me.

  • I'VE TAKEN CONTROL OF MY DREAM!

    IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!

But in the end I blew up the earth. :D

  • @icsomethingshiny124 if you train your mind, you can have up to 3 vivid lucid dreams a night in less than a year

  • @icsomethingshiny124 remind me never to get on your bad side

  • @icsomethingshiny124 Hahaha what?!

  • have you ever had a dream that other people were in and then they had the same dream? that happened to me and it was freaking awesome of course they were probably BS ing me but that would be cool if they werent. perhaps dreaming uses our subconcious to open up a telepathic channel what do you think? anybody?...

  • I SOMETIMES dream about for example that I am being chased by something and just because I'm tired when I'm asleep (duh) I can't move quickly enough :(

  • I usually don't remember my dreams, but the ones I do are incredible. I dream actual stories, like novel style. One thing that's interesting; I have this keen urge, even a need I guess, to prove myself. So most of the dreams I remember involve me on a battlefield, or as a revolutionist, or something.

  • this vid makes me lucid dream

  • I don't believe the "dreams consist entirely of things we've experienced." I ALWAYS have people in my dreams I don't know, have never seen before and I'm sure I'll never see. And I have never seen a nineteen foot tall man eat a garden chair, but that's also happened!

As to fact five... I'd LOVE to dream for six years straight!

I always have odd dreams. They almost always contain things I WANT to do. Like marrying a shadow or realizing I'm really a speaker for someone's computer.

  • @JagSmakarSkit I was thinking about this, and I think it's more about what we focus on. For example; in the grocery store, you may only be focused on buying your food and having a short conversation with the cashier - but the cashier in the next line over may appear in your dream later on, even though she never registered in your conscious mind, and you forgot her face by the time you got to your car.

  • I'm an expert in dreams, one time I managed to choose a dream, another time her opened my eyes when trying to wake up and everything was blue, and pretty much I have a lucid dream every night.

    wierd huh? XD

  • Sometimes I dream an entire day from morning to the time when I am going to bed then I fall asleep in the dream and wake up in real life. After that, I can't tell what day it is.

  • my dreams look like cartoons

  • excelent!!!!!

  • Sleep paralysis is the scariest freaking thing in the world. Woke up during a nightmare once... flkjdslfhewuigfliwaygflwaybc

  • @MegaTootsiePop

Once.. I had a sleep paralysis, but guess what?

I Couldn't breath, I felt that i was flying.. and i said Holy shit, a sleep paralysis!

... and I fell asleep again

sorry, my english is not very good, but I hope you can understand

  • I have a lucid dream every night. In my dreams I always run away from school. I bring my friend and say "Im dreaming, so we can run away" A thing I have been trying to do in my lucid dream is get super powers. This proves to be challenging because I am thinking so much.

  • it for about 1 day to 1 month which is interesting. i only remember the best, strangest, grossest, and 4 of the most common dreams. when i was 9-12, i occasionolly dreamt of a sign that said "not dreaming", "do not disturb", "back in five minutes", or it was blank. but all of them were written in red bold letters on a white board on a picket fence stake positioned straight or at a slight angle on a big poofy cloud with cloud everywhere you looked also above the sign was a blue sky.

  • I think that dreams vare thoughts that happen within the 1 hour to 5 minutes before your asleep and only one time have i had control of my dream and forced myself to wake up. but a fact that Dan didnt mention is the stereotype of when a person has a bad dream, wakes up, and immediately sits up. now this has always bugged me and i have done it once. has anyone else done it? Plus, if you wake up and immediately start thinking of your dream for, say, ten to 15 minutes then u will probably remember

  • I once had a dreamwhere my girl friend broke up with me...... Then I realized, I was in bed a minute ago..... So I just took her and made out with her, and thank god I remembered it

  • I rarely have sleep paralysis but when I do it freaks me out...

    lucid dreams ftw!

  • My dreams are simply awesmazing.

They are all in super duper vivid color or black and white.

About 3 quarters of my dreams are lucid.

I have sleep paralysis at least twice a week.

    And I sleepwalk. EVERY NIGHT.

    It's weird, but awesmazing.

One of my most awesmazing dreams is one where by walking through white doors I can switch dimensions and things of that nature.

  • i've have these lucid dreams where i cant breath or cant walk right like im being held back or feel heavy some i can control and do stuff i like to do >.> i like those tho

  • i have a dream of falling off of cliffs a lot... its really weird but one night i woke up from that dream and i was at the botton of my steps holding a fork in my right hand... i have no idea why i had the fork but it was weird..

  • I've had sleep paralysis....it's really scary :/

I keep having this one dream where I'm being chased by a giant fish. Not lying.

  • i rlly enjoyed this vid ;3 and omg i sleep walk O.O

  • 6 years on an average 70 years is nothing, considering we don't sleep 1/10 of a day, but about 1/3 of a day so it should be around 20 years to be a lot

  • :30 is actually the foot of HANES :)

  • Dreaming is so we don't get bored when we sleep.

    BADUM-BUM

  • i like his room

to say nothing of the boy :)

  • I've been having nightmares all week about finals week, which is weird because I already nailed all my finals two weeks ago ? O_o Help plz?

  • Also, you can only remember the dreams that you've interrupted, by A. Woken up in the middle of or B. Taken control of

  • I have lucid dreams all the time!

I feel like i live a double life because of that .___.

  • Some of my dreams are in black and white but not all.

  • i lucid dream almost every night. it's like I've trained myself to do it!

  • I beg to differ. I had a dream when I saw characters from Star Trek, Spongebob and other various fictional cartoons, and I am sure that I have never met them in real life.

  • @cardinalskristi yes but u have seen them. Like he said the media and movies and books affect our ideas on what we dream and the characters we think about or see on tv and movies

  • @cardinalskristi i also beg to differ but he says specifically that dreams are made up entirely of things we have experienced while awake, and even if you haven't met them in real life, you have seen their faces.

  • @cardinalskristi Yeah, but you've seen them on TV. Or read about them, etc, etc.

  • @cardinalskristi You have still experienced these characters through media. Therefore, they can be in your dreams.

  • Last night i dream that i'am an alien that can turn into a human and that is EFFING cool

  • that's a special type of dream? i apparently have lucid dreams all the time. it isn't as fun as it sounds. its hard to control....i sound like i'm talking about a super power...cool!
