Baptism is not important, it is essential to the saving plan of God. We are not saved by a meer confession of  faith in or an acceptance of Jesus. We are saved when we apply the N.T. New Birth to our lives, Repentance, Water baptism in "Jesus Name' and recieve His Spirit. Thats how we are saved.

I agree with this brother on most of the things he's preaching.

I'm a Oneness preacher, but I feel like we are saved at the altar. Although I do believe we need to be baptized I do not think that's what saves us.

If we have an chance to be baptized and are not then I feel you would not be saved.

But I know when I was saved, I wasn't baptized for another month, and I got the Holy Ghost 2 nights later after I got saved.

So I believe I was saved at that moment I repented.

But anyways.

Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We are saved by our faith, then we should by obedience be baptized. If water is essential, what about all the people that have death bed conversions, did they miss the Kingdom of God? What if much water wasnt available at the time of conversion and they die suddenly?

The Jews recieved remission of sins under John's baptism, Luke 3:3;Luke 1:77; and we as believer's still recieve remission of sins at baptism Acts 2:38, Mattew 26:28; and Luke 24:47. No where in the bible does it state that we recieve remission of sins automatically because he shed his blood, if that was the cause the whole world would be saved just because he died, people have to recieve it. Our sins are washed in the blood at water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12-13,16; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 10:43-48; Acts 16:14-15; Acts 16:31-33; Acts 18:8;Acts 19:1-6; and Matt 28:19; the apostles understood baptism was essential to the New Birth, and all through out the book of Acts they preached it.

@Gravitysea Grace simply allows us to come back into a relationship with God, which Adam took away. Grace allows us to repent, grace allows us to recieve remission of sins through water baptism, and grace allows us to recieve God's Spirit, and it's all done through our faith. Acts 2:38 is not based on works, its recieved by Obedience through faith. This is not a works salvation, but a obedience one. 2Thess.1:8, 1Peter 4:17, Romans 16:26, Hebrews 5:8-9. Romans 10:9-10 UNTO SALVATION!

Additionally, Phillips is using the same rhetorical flourishes I heard thirty-plus years ago in the UPC. This is particularly true regarding the rhetoric about how "nobody in the Bible was baptized in the name of the titles Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Same ole rhetoric, not a whole lot of historical proof for same.

Peter was quoting the prophet Joel, and that coincides with the book of Romans where Paul says that salvation happens by believing on the Lord Jesus and CONFESSING (calling) the Lord Jesus. Until 325 a.d. baptisms were completed in Jesus name, as the trinity was developed by a man at the Nicea council. The council of Rivenna established infant baptism by the Catholic churh. All eight baptisms (remember Jesus was also baptized as our example to follow) recorded were done in the name of Jesus. Paul was baptized in the name of the Lord(Jesus is Lord of all Acts 10:36). Baptizo means immersion and one must believe to be saved Mark 16:16. Can a infant believe who was sprinkled. No way.

The bible states whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord- shall be saved. A person calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus in baptism. You have to believe and be baptized to be saved. When you start basing salvation on the right recitation of words it is a slippery slope. By the UPC's own logic it could be said that if you're not baptized in the name "Yeshua ha maschiah" then you're not saved because you didn't use the words in Acts. We are saved BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, nothing else will do.

Also can you tell me what Romans 10:8-10 means? Because it seems pretty clear from the words that it means 8 But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart[e](that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you (confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.) 10 (For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.)

It means exactly what it says, but this epistle wasnt written to the sinner. it was written to the "church" in Rome. (believers)

Paul was clearly speaking about Israel and them being saved. That was his hearts desire.

Jesus in Mark 16:16 says, he that believes and is baptized. so which one is it. i say yes, believe in your heart, confess, and be baptized...do them all. dont isolate scripture. they dont contradict each other.
