(Acts 2:38 KJV) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
WE HAVE A (GRACE AND PEACE) FROM ALL 3 MEMBERS OF THE TRINITY IN 2 VERSES.
Revelation 1:4-5 (KJV)
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come;(GOD THE FATHER) AND from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; (GOD THE HOLY GHOST)
5AND from Jesus Christ, (GOD THE SON) who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.
@bookwormpaul yes, kinda like washing your hands and then rinsing them off all clean. thats why repentance and then baptism r important, This is Gods plan 4 everyone to enter HIS HOLY HEAVEN read this
(Acts 2:38 KJV) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved throught faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
@Gravitysea Grace means God alows you time to repent and be obident, not to continue in disobedance. If you have faith in Gods word Obey Grace is God part obediance is our part That come by Faith If you never obey Then Grace is wasted on you. Its is there (grace) to Alow you time to repent and obey Disobent and Unbelivers will all have the part i the lake of fire
Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy,
Baptism is not important, it is essential to the saving plan of God. We are not saved by a meer confession of faith in or an acceptance of Jesus. We are saved when we apply the N.T. New Birth to our lives, Repentance, Water baptism in "Jesus Name' and recieve His Spirit. Thats how we are saved.
You mean to tell me I wasn't saved at the altar?? how did I get the Holy Ghost then?
I am not saying Baptism is not important, I believe it's a part of the Salvation experiance, but you are forgiven at the moment of faith in Jesus Christ.
@mddale31 he that beliveth and and baptisd shall be saved belive has a th at the end meens contiue to belive and if you dont continuse to belive shall be lost
@Gravitysea Let me help you, Peter said we are to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, Why? for the remission of sins, we recieve remission of our sins at water baptism, thats how we recieve it. Acts 22:16,arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Your statement is correct, but the blood applied at baptism, that is were are sins are washed away, is at baptism. Mark 16:16; Jesus said he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, 1peter 3:21,
@dktacts23 We are saved by faith and faith alone. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We are saved by our faith, then we should by obedience be baptized. If water is essential, what about all the people that have death bed conversions, did they miss the Kingdom of God? What if much water wasnt available at the time of conversion and they die suddenly?
@Gravitysea Nowhere in the bible does it say we are saved by faith alone, nowhere. James 2:14, is talking about saving faith, it says can faith save him? The Amplified bible says; (save his soul)? No, because James 2:17 says; Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. There is no such thing as saving faith alone my friend. I just gave you the plan of Salvation.......
@dktacts23 John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
even if you use that excuse that what if water is not around! 1.GOD has the power to do whatever but he is not confused at all you can bet your last dollar that the person that believes that they can recieve death bed repentance had and oportunity to obey the gospel before they got on their death bed and further more if GOD calls you that means one needs to answer and if you harding your heart its nobodies fault but that person. acts 2:38 obey it
@Gravitysea even baptism doth also now save us. The Jews recieved remission of sins under John's baptism, Luke 3:3;Luke 1:77; and we as believer's still recieve remission of sins at baptism Acts 2:38, Mattew 26:28; and Luke 24:47. John 3:5- 1John 5:8. No where in the bible does it state that we recieve remission of sins automatically because he shed his blood, if that was the cause the whole world would be saved just because he died, people have to recieve it. And no where in the bible does it
@Gravitysea state that we recieve the blood or remission of sins by a simple mental or verbal confession of Jesus as our Lord and saviour. Our sins are washed in the blood at water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12-13,16; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 10:43-48; Acts 16:14-15; Acts 16:31-33; Acts 18:8;Acts 19:1-6; and Matt 28:19; the apostles understood baptism was essential to the New Birth, and all through out the book of Acts they preached it.
@Gravitysea Grace simply allows us to come back into a relationship with God, which Adam took away. Grace allows us to repent, grace allows us to recieve remission of sins through water baptism, and grace allows us to recieve God's Spirit, and it's all done through our faith. Acts 2:38 is not based on works, its recieved by Obedience through faith. This is not a works salvation, but a obedience one. 2Thess.1:8, 1Peter 4:17, Romans 16:26, Hebrews 5:8-9. Romans 10:9-10 UNTO SALVATION!
My GOD now thats the truth we are saved by grace threw faith in other words grace is the unmarited favor of GOD so we can say that grace dosent have any additives in it it is pure. so our faith is activated when we obey acts 2:38.
umbilical007 is against the word of God. Jesus never prayed the sinners prayer nor did he talk in tongues yet he our example in all or to fulfill all righteousness he was BAPTIZED-Mark 1:10, Math 3:12-17. Peter and Paul both baptized in Jesus name(Acts2:38/19:1-5). Paul was Baptized in Jesus name Acts 22:16. We call upon the name of the Lord Jesus like Rom 10:13 & Acts 10:36 in Baptism like Mark 16:16 "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved" since faith without works is dead James 2:19
Good solid preaching! Truth! Only I feel we are all going to see the antichrist right before the rapture. I believe we will see a one world government, one world currency and the man of sin standing in the temple and before he gets his hands on us the Church, then the catching away. Why? God's Mercy!
It will be undeniable the time at hand, and every lukewarm, ice cold and back slid kid will get in the boat! AND REVIVIAL LIKE YOU NEVER SEEN! Don't forget Israel's REVIVAL The true bride. Mid-trib
Criss Angel? I mean, seriously, Angel would flat out tell you that what he does is sleight-of-hand, not sorcery. Phillips is trying to scare people.
Additionally, Phillips is using the same rhetorical flourishes I heard thirty-plus years ago in the UPC. This is particularly true regarding the rhetoric about how "nobody in the Bible was baptized in the name of the titles Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Same ole rhetoric, not a whole lot of historical proof for same.
He preaches the truth of the Name, I just wish he preached the truth about Holiness, not only that but there is no "rapture" and the church will go thru 'Great Tribulation'
this man is completly wrong about the salvation thing! He asks,"when are you saved? When you do all three!" What a crock! He just added confusion to what he was suposed to clarify! Can a person be 1/3rd saved? Can a man be 2/3rds saved? Ridiculous, thats why I hold it and him up to ridicule! Peter said on the day of Pentecost;"...and as many as CALL on the name of the Lord shall be saved". This guy will never get it, he is so full of that legalistic spirit of the UPC.
Do you not believe the word of the Lord? Peter was quoting the prophet Joel, and that coincides with the book of Romans where Paul says that salvation happens by believing on the Lord Jesus and CONFESSING (calling) the Lord Jesus. I know what you're driving at, seems too simple right? Let me ask you this: When does a baby become a baby? Just because you dont see the baby, or hear it, does not mean it doesn't exist. I assume you think you're saved, let me ask you r u saved by works or faith?
let me continue please, the point is that you are saved in conception at the point of crying out to Jesus to save you and forgive you, then you are baptized BECAUSE(Acts 2:38"FOR the remission of sins")you are saved. And you oneness folks need to get your story straight about the Holy Ghost;U say that God is one & indivisible, but how can someone accept God at repentance and not also have the HOLY GHOST who u say is Jesus and God all at the same time?
Until 325 a.d. baptisms were completed in Jesus name, as the trinity was developed by a man at the Nicea council. The council of Rivenna established infant baptism by the Catholic churh. All eight baptisms (remember Jesus was also baptized as our example to follow) recorded were done in the name of Jesus. Paul was baptized in the name of the Lord(Jesus is Lord of all Acts 10:36). Baptizo means immersion and one must believe to be saved Mark 16:16. Can a infant believe who was sprinkled. No way.
The bible states whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord- shall be saved. A person calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus in baptism. You have to believe and be baptized to be saved. Faith without works is dead. Remember the Devil believes and trembles and he fears God more than most people do. It is your obedience that saves you. There is only one God and Jesus is the name of the whole family in heaven and earth. There is only one baptism valid in the bible. Acts 2:38 in Jesus name
If there is only one name to be used in water baptism, then you are baptized wrong ....His name is YESHUA... Jesus is a incorrect translation into English, so you may need to re-think your legalistic stance, or YOU be re-baptized!
@umbilical007 Thank you so much for this comment. This simple comment exposes how ridiculous this legalism over language is. When you start basing salvation on the right recitation of words it is a slippery slope. By the UPC's own logic it could be said that if you're not baptized in the name "Yeshua ha maschiah" then you're not saved because you didn't use the words in Acts. We are saved BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH, nothing else will do.
@carnivaltriumph86--James2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
@carnivaltriumph862:18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
@carnivaltriumph86 James2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
Also can you tell me what Romans 10:8-10 means? Because it seems pretty clear from the words that it means 8 But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart[e](that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you (confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.) 10 (For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.)
It means exactly what it says, but this epistle wasnt written to the sinner. it was written to the "church" in Rome. (believers)
Paul was clearly speaking about Israel and them being saved. That was his hearts desire.
Jesus in Mark 16:16 says, he that believes and is baptized. so which one is it. i say yes, believe in your heart, confess, and be baptized...do them all. dont isolate scripture. they dont contradict each other.
amen! Nothing saves but faith in Jesus and what he did on the cross. His shed blood and death is the only thing that save us, not water, not works nothing but the blood of Jesus. Jesus plus nothing. He is sufficient
@Gravitysea (Acts 2:38 KJV) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
You call upon the Name of the Lord by being baptized - see Acts 22:16. Paul called upon the name of the Lord by arising to be baptized, washing away his sins.
Hello, I grew up UPC, and I believe in being baptized in Jesus name, but can you explain to me why people who get baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost still get the Holy Ghost, and why they still have fruit of the spirit?
I made a web site about salvation. It will add to what you already know. Please stop by and read 'Salvation According to Scripture' and let me know what you think. You can use the message board to respond. Talk Soon.
what happened to john 3:16? hahaha, these people don't really accept Jesus as the SON OF GOD. that is the true love of God, people are going to hell while these people are focused on getting you wet.
shazam. the word of JESUS condem you of your word agaist that man if you are a christian find the word of GOD SAYING TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED ONE BY THE WAY YOU SPEAK YOU ARE HARMING THE APPLE OF GODS EYE..
SHAZ -- It makes no difference of your denomination ! If you haven`t asked Jesus for forgiveness of your sins your as lost as those who preach false doctrines in the name of Jesus !!!!!!
you world of pentecost promiseland (whatever you call yourselves these days) look like a bunch of half witted TBN Tammy Baker Jan Crouch whores mixed with some bastardized version of the UPC. You think you're the greatest church in the world. Really, you're so pathetic. What a loser church.
I ask you...Is your attitude christian? It hurts me to see people speaking this way. If he's wrong the bible tells you what to do: "Ye which are spiritual restore such an one considering yourself also"
I pray I have said this with a right spirit and you receive it with a right spirit.
Shaz, what a horrible thing to say about people. I take it your an atheist or something? What is your problem? We are commanded to love, not judge others by how they worship, look or believe. You really need to repent.
Shaz, as radical as your comment may sound to all these deceivers, I totally agree with you. Jesus Christ used very strong language against people like this; they were called Pharisees. These people sound like a broken record with Acts 2:38. As a Christian myself, I am compelled to pray for your souls when I see how thick your deception is.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS! Wow! Thank you Bishop for preaching so strong! love you much

I agree with this brother on most of the things he's preaching.
I'm a Oneness preacher, but I feel like we are saved at the altar. Although I do believe we need to be baptized I do not think that's what saves us.
If we have an chance to be baptized and are not then I feel you would not be saved.
But I know when I was saved, I wasn't baptized for another month, and I got the Holy Ghost 2 nights later after I got saved.
So I believe I was saved at that moment I repented.
But anyways.

@carnivaltriumph86 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
rudyavelino1982 1 year ago

Thank you.

@Gravitysea (Acts 2:38 KJV) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
ronhanish 1 year ago
You call upon the Name of the Lord by being baptized - see Acts 22:16. Paul called upon the name of the Lord by arising to be baptized, washing away his sins.

Hello, I grew up UPC, and I believe in being baptized in Jesus name, but can you explain to me why people who get baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost still get the Holy Ghost, and why they still have fruit of the spirit?

you world of pentecost promiseland (whatever you call yourselves these days) look like a bunch of half witted TBN Tammy Baker Jan Crouch whores mixed with some bastardized version of the UPC. You think you're the greatest church in the world. Really, you're so pathetic. What a loser church.
SHAZAM003 4 years ago
I ask you...Is your attitude christian? It hurts me to see people speaking this way. If he's wrong the bible tells you what to do: "Ye which are spiritual restore such an one considering yourself also"
I pray I have said this with a right spirit and you receive it with a right spirit.

@Dclake Jesus call Peter Satan Some time you have to call it like it is Quit crying about it and repent

@ronhanish - I don't hate the UPC. My comment doesn't say that at all. You know what the "promise" land church is. I don't need to explain it to you.
