Actually, hearing him say that in his Alucard voice would be pretty sexy.
@Zenkuro Back to the matter at hand. A LOT of his slip-ups, filler words and seeming rudeness could be attributed to the location. He's standing in front of a bunch of people, trying to talk to a voice acting legend, and the atmosphere has obviously become very negative. Last time I went to Acen, there was a guy who asked a question at a panel I went to who behaved much the same way. Didn't help that we were all staring at him I guess.

Also, the "chasing you around" bit, from the delivery, did seem like a bit of a joke. He's not DEMANDING anything of anyone. They may not be aware of the different attitudes toward those subjects in Japan.

@shinobi67 When Crispin answers the first questiong he just replies with "Next question cause we got way off topic..." That came off as impolite to me. And saying things like "I'm tired of chasing you around" and "Please say stop downloading anime or I'll kill you" All sounds pretty rude to me but that's just my opinion.

@Zenkuro I'll grant you the first one was a bit impolite. The second and third just sound like really bad attempts at jokes. And I think you may have misheard what he was saying for the last one. Pretty sure it was "Could you tell people "Stop downloading anime or I'll kill you"?" As in, Crispin himself actually saying that. Hence his response "I'm not the Terminator." Actually, hearing him say that in his Alucard voice would be pretty sexy.

@Zenkuro Back to the matter at hand. A LOT of his slip-ups, filler words and seeming rudeness could be attributed to the location. He's standing in front of a bunch of people, trying to talk to a voice acting legend, and the atmosphere has obviously become very negative. Last time I went to Acen, there was a guy who asked a question at a panel I went to who behaved much the same way. Didn't help that we were all staring at him I guess.

@Zenkuro So, while his first response, the "we got way off topic" one, while a bit impolite, was probably some sort of vain attempt to change the subject (not that it really worked). Also, the "chasing you around" bit, from the delivery, did seem like a bit of a joke. He's not DEMANDING anything of anyone. In fact, I think the first bit of that sentence was "When are you gonna be at Anime Central next" or something.

@Zenkuro Also, as I hinted in an earlier comment, those girls were ANNOYING. Someone asks a question about effete characters, and they're instantly a homophobe, and all of their opinions have less value. If Crispin was REALLY that annoyed, he would have ended the conversation quickly. With situations like this, it's important to realize that a lot of anime fans have only ever seen dubs. They may not be aware of the different attitudes toward those subjects in Japan.

@Zenkuro I'm sorry for the reply I sent a few minutes ago. That was a bit rude. Anyway, I simply felt like addressing the issue of effete characters, as that seems to be the major beef people have with this guy. It's entirely possible he's only been exposed to dubs and doesn't understand the cultural context behind some of the characters. So, for someone in that position, seeing the guy who voiced Alucard voicing a crossdressing Shinto priest might be a bit weird.

@NintendanGX Exactly my point. While it's true that I can't judge if he's not a homophobe, neither can the person who wrote the highest rated comment, or you for that matter. Making such harsh character judgments based on one exchange at a convention is rather unfounded. I know plenty of guys who are perfectly supportive of homosexuality, but are uncomfortable when, say, gay men flirt with them. Also, if Mr. Freeman was really as offended as you people claim, he wouldn't have continued speaking.

omg. I thought I was the only person in the comments section who felt this way. I thought it was a legit question, even though I know the answer. Japan's more open to homosexuality than Western countries loose in gender roles and sooo you get these ambitious characters with sexualities that can go any and all ways. To a Westerner, it could be a little unsettling. And not everyone who dislikes yaoi is a homophone. Just saying. I hate the stuff. Because rabid fangirls take it too far.
