Those guns, both of them, are so beast. I notice you used a Version 3 gearbox for the PKM? I may build one if the one on Evike is too expensive or turns out to be crap. Comes out this spring...allegedly. If I don't buy that I may make one with the M249 gearbox.
hi. I saw you did a damn good job on that mg42 :)) I am looking forward to do one by myself. Would you help me to do it (at least telling me which internal parts you used to fit the body)?
Or an easier way for me... how much will you charge to do one for me? :)
The Sound FX are horrible. There is NO sound while cocking an MG42 (or any of the modern versions), since all you do is pull back the breech. You pull back the handle, which pulls back the breech against the main spring, and you push the handle back forward. The breech will stay back against the main lock - end of story. No lock&load sounds at all, since the MG42 is an open gun, it only locks for the shot, but goes open again for reload&wait.
@aslv88 It may be news for you, but... on real MG42 and later versions like the MG3, the charge handle ALWAYS has to be pushed forward by hand. There is no spring to push it back. I've fired the MG3 often enough, and can field-strip it blindfolded - you'll hear some noise pulling back the handle, then you slide it forward by hand, which doesn't make any noise at all.
However, it sure LOOKS like a nice replica - I just commented on the sound because it sounds like it was later dubbed on.
@jnievele It may be news for you, but U DONT NEED TO PUSH BACK THE CHARGE HANDLE IN MG 42 BUT IN MG 34 U VE 2. u cant shoot with handle in back in MG 34 but in MG 42 U CAN and i know it because i had MG 42 in my hands same like MG 34 if U'll pull the trigger in MG 42 with handle in de back it will fly into front position. But in MG 34 U cant even pull a trigger.
@aslv88 You could leave the charge handle back and wait for it to fly forward when you fire - but this was heavily discouraged by our machine gun instructors, as it will break the gun and may also hurt you. Also, there's a high risk of the gun jamming when you do this, as the main spring may not have enough power to push both the handle AND operate the loading mechanism that pushes a round out of the belt and into the breech (the mechanism inside the top cover)
@aslv88 The MG3 is 7.62mm, actually. The MG36 is 5.56. If you let the charging handle slam forward, it won't break first time, but wears down, and it can also bend and wedge so that you can't move it anymore. Punishment for doing this was 20 Pushups when I did my training, BTW ;-) And as for the comment about carrying a MG on patrol - it SUCKS :-)))
@jnievele Yeah U right my mistake i was thinking about MG 4 but MG 42 is 7,92/57 so it's much powerful than 7,62/51 and 5,56/45 beside that lock in mg 3 is much heavier ( if my memory is ok ) than in MG 42 maybe thats why U had that stories in Ur training. :) I don know. BTW MG on patrol .....its totally madddddd ;)
@aslv88 damn it well if i were to make that same pkm how should i start bc i've been wanting a pkm for so long now and i'll do what ever it takes to make one

Poor sound quality is due to the fact that this review was filmed using a photo camera. However, will working the sound issue out :D

Bull. I've shot an MG-42 at a machine gun shoot before. When I racked the charging handle, it made a satisfying " chck chck " sound.

@NoahWillie But it only makes a sound when you pull it back ;-)

First at all U didn't find a new wheel.
I know how exactly how is working MG 42 & 34 cos i had a chance to ve fun with both of this guns.
Second it's a replica it was made 4fun FUUUUN not 4 looking "where is that handle now?".
Beside that the spring wich is holding that handle is very weak U ve 2push the handle to return on the proper place. Regards.

Yes of course Ur right but remember that MG3 is on 5,56 and MG 42 is on 7,92mm.
The spring ve 2be stronger and all parts r much harder then in MG3.
Beside that handle inside (in mg 42) is made from really hard piece of steel its something like 3 or 4 mm and its 90 degrees angel thats it.

@zombiekilldemon First at all U ve 2buy original parts as U can see in video.
Without that there is to many problems with cutting and welding part by part all PKM.
Loads of Us try that before. Waist of time.
All parts cost something around 500$ in Poland.
U can check on ebay in States, or get deactivated PKM and then do Ur own ASG version.
Good luck U'll need it :)
