  • Just missed hearing this live and Sweet Black Angel (not to mention Ventilator Blues from Vancouver) as they made their way to LA a couple of days later and had DROPPED them. I was pressed up against the stage at the Hollywood Palladium in June '72, getting through Stevie Wonder's set without getting crushed, then looking right up into the Stones nostrils and mascara as they launched into Brown Sugar. They kept talking about Wyman losing his passport backstage. Still it was a great show!!!

  • F... good version of this song ! T4P !

  • Doctor prescribes , drug store supplies .....

  • Al Perkins slide guitar on the Exile album was too good, same with Waiting on a friend when they had Sony Rollins on sax now its very hard to be reproduced live without them two genius of musicians playing it.The first part of this song is good right untill Ron Wood takes over.

  • they had Al perkins doing the slide guitar on Exile so playing this live is torture to the listenener!Even though Taylor does a good job.

  • @huguenot40

I prefer this touching live version over the studio version any time.

  • @huguenot40 Does that even make sense????

  • I remember buying this album in the late 70's and this song was the first song that really caught my attention...to this day it is one of my favs....great live version here also!

  • Classic! Thanks Man!

  • Love it! So raw, so gritty, so itself!

  • i love 3:09 :D

  • @stones6fan even their little mistakes are amazing ahaha

  • Great version ! Thanx for posting !

  • MT sure spices this song up nice

  • just beautiful!

  • nice, notice the start sounds like the start of stray cat blues done live.

  • @lickss don't it just

  • @lickss Excellent observation! This is such a classic!

  • They were in pretty bad shape, drug wise. Which meens they sound fucking great. Just like they should sound, raw, gritty, raunchy. God bless 'em.

  • @frankmarcinak good call sir. Ladies and Gentlemen the Rolling Stones was definitely the best concert i never went to

  • Best time of STONES. Mick Taylor awesome.

  • @oskarloga

Saludos.

Indeed, on Exile on Mainstreet Al Perkins plays steel guitar on Torn and Frayed and Mick Taylor bass. I mixed Torn and Frayed up with Ventilator Blues.

  • @oskarloga

The guitar solo in Ventilator Blues on the album Exile on Mainstreet is played by Taylor. Of course it's also Taylor playing the solo here, live in Vancouver, 1972 June 3.
