The title of the novel is Beautiful Losers, at least pretend to know what you're critiquing.
AnD don't confuse melancholy and deep-thinking with "this guys is a very unhappy dude" - that's not for you to judge. LC is deeply revered all over the GLOBE .... these dudes are moot white noise at best.
I rated this video at one star and did not finish watching it.
It reminded me what the "authorities" must have been like as they were ready to burn a woman at the stake because she had dreams or was different in eyes of the community and labeled a witch.
I love Leonard Cohen's work 1000% without hesitation.
I DO NOT love the work of these 2 intellectuals who so seriously tear apart a genius who speaks from his heart.-- Just like Nazis, coldly discussing him.
Were it not for the fact that no one seems to want to watch the whole video I could suggest you are speaking foolishly.
But since no one would agree with me I'll just remind you that this is a review about a movie not a man, and that the criticisms proposed are toward the documentary's creators not Leonard Cohen himself. Had anyone bothered to watch and see they would know that the critics, like you, have a great respect for Leonard Cohen and perhaps that is why they did not like the movie.
what a bunch of fat siskel n ebert wanabes. they'r not saying anything at all. he's an unhappy guy. what does that have to do with his music. what in the world? i hate critics. their so avante-garge. the fat grey haired doesn't even like his music. why post this crap???
How can you accuse the guy of being too "cagey" if he's not being asked the questions you want him to be asked by a director who is "too worshipful". And let me get this straight, you think he's great but Bono is too easily impressed. This review made no sense.
what a joke...these guys spent a lot of time polishing their inarticulate, rambling criticisms of an actually legendary figure...old useless critics who never did anything but sit around picking apart the artists and works that actually mean something...grow a soul, losers
I haven't seen this film yet but am a big fan of Cohen. One of them claims to have read his book but can't even get the title right. It is "Beautiful Losers", not "Beautiful People". These guys are probably more comfortable reviewing the acting of 2 dimensional characters from the movie "Shrek" than trying to fathom the inner workings of a rarified talent such as Mr. Cohen.
Enjoyed the film VERY much.I think Cohen has given us a legacy of BEAUTIFUL music and I think he is at peace with himself....he is an inspiration to his fans and a joy to listen to. Bravo, Leonard.

"Deeply unhappy man"...take a look at this guy. Cohen
would have made a great novelist but he was having such
a good time being miserable instead of having such a
lousy time being happy.

these two dolts should stick to reviewing sly stallone movies, but then again no, they likley consider him an artist.

"You'll see a woman hanging upside down
Her features covered by her fallen gown
and all the lousy little poets coming round
tryn to sound like charlie manson"
Here we have the lousy little poets criticing what they don't understand.

I think these two are the worst film critics I've ever seen. Half the time they are just putting Cohen down and not even talking about the film.
You have to be a special kind of jerk to critique someone for not being more "literary" while getting the title of his book wrong.
