very nice mate. I have a seriesB RS RA. (Pre-face lift 1989-90) To answer some questions I see on here, from what i can tell 89-90 models got gold rocker covers and gold inter-cooler, and 91-92 models got gold rocker covers and black or silver inter-cooler.
The best research I can come up with is, the light weight aluminum bonnet is a myth. The only place anywhere I can find a light weight bonnet mentioned is in Forums/chatrooms
thats a facelift and looks a nice example,i really like the originals that prodrive and sti developed. I was told that in Japan there was RS and a version with a R on the end and very rare.
I have been in a Prodrive Legacy rally car and also i owned a Subaru Uk Legacy Press car that somehow was faster than it was supposed to be and when Autoxpress featured it on the front cover of the magazine it beat the manufacturers claimed figures
I own a RS type R, had it for 4 years and only seen 1 other on the road and 3 wrecked. To my understanding RS R was the 1st racing chassis light weight model and the the RA was the race chassis with the race motor and essentially the birth of the STI. and 1 way to tell a real RSR or RA is wind down windows
But I can tell you its fast and will hit any corner at any speed Ive smoked V8s other wrx sti's and even other RS's
@TheFrostyboy Hi the guy who's ex Markku Allen Prodrive Subaru Legacy RS rally car i have been in had a 1990 Legacy RS saloon road car that had full trim and electrics etc. I assumed the RSR was the lightweight version with no electrics or abs etc etc basically what a version 1 impreza type ra is.
i would love to see pics of any rsr version 1 legacy so send them to me at cozzfather at hotmail dot com.

To my knowledge it came out with light weight bonnet , close ration box and wind up windows(weight reduction) and was done by sti.(again to my knowledge) as for abs not sure does have brake disc's front and back.
To those saying it is not an RA or doesn't have the original engine must remember this is a type C or D, the facelift model, which did not come with a gold intercooler and ive seen some with electric windows even. The pre-facelift versions are better in my opinion. Plus I own one :s
It only goes to 180 because that's what Japanese cars are supposed to be limited to...just like they're meant to be limited to 206kw. Both of them never happen lol.

I thought RS RA's had gold cam covers and gold intercooler. The Intercooler also had a sensor in it too.
