its easier for me just to hold the leg down(likein the vid) and walk over and around it clock wise...i go dirty face from when i get caught in the guard armbar just for that escape...but its always good to have more than one way:)
Any escape has some risk attached to it. It's about timing of course and "kenetically feeling' where the opoonent has your arm. Mark Hunt's Escape from Fedor is a prime example of how this can work (I've seen it lots). I've also seen guys stuff the defense too...but that's why we love JJ and the chess match that goes on.
hi guys. i just had my first grappling lesson yesterday and saw your video right before that. I remembered this move and escaped that way! it worked really well and i guess i was able to make a good impression on my coach ;) so thanks guys!
yes, until Mark Hunt escaped from Fedors armbar, no one really knew if this moved worked at all.
Until Bas Rutten's self defense video's no one knew the kick in the balls worked either. He said so himself. "everyone underestimates the kick in the groin"
Everyone should name this escape "Mark Hunt" since he invented it.
I was just thinking that. You have to be able to twist your arm right while the other guy's got a hold...not easy at all...

I was thinking the same thing before the video started. I was like, "I bet this he is going to go sideways like Mark Hunt." And he did!
