Beer is supposed to be uplifting, refreshing & cheery! This commercial was a big downer & had nothing to do with the beer! I love New Zealand & New Zealanders....but you guys have REALLY got to work on your beer ads!

Hell, my dictionary even calls photographers a "race". So then in that case, judging racists is racism; as racists are literally a race. Mate, the meaning of the word is determined by the context. I said it earlier, you cannot say that something doesn't make sense or that it's a "contradiction" just because YOU are choosing another meaning to apply. Race in it's most well known form refers to different cultures/ethnicities. I don't argue that "race" may refer to what you say it does, but it's key to note what peoples intentions (choice of meaning) are when the expression comes about.

On one hand we are forbidden to judge someone based on the colour of their skin (which we don't), allegedly because that can't be changed; though it is not forbidden to judge someone based on their intelligence or appearance, which also can't be changed. Why is that not racism then? Why is it not racism if I call someone stupid, or ugly? Logically, it should be.

I don't buy into our personalities being completely inherent. Social circumstance is what shapes our personalities, views and respective operative functioning in life.
For instance, put a child from any particular ethnic background into a a violent family who is struggling financially, with violence and is subject to poor conditions, chances are that child will be a a product of similar nature, despite it's race.

At times, peoples (and some times on a collective level) self worth is determined by comparison (am I superior or inferior?), which derives from the unconscious ego. It's not about free passing or making excuses, it's about looking past the superficial surface and creating an understanding about why certain cultures may have higher proportions. It's based on economic and social backgrounds. Many cultures have been assimilated into slums or live in areas that aren't easy to 'get by' in. That's not excuse, I know, but it's ridiculous to base it on any bullshit that it's their blood or ethnicity which is the primary cause.

Place any of the 'peoples' who you percieve as being superior in one of these places, and they're going to be just as likely to commit these crimes you speak of or be on par with the proportions to the respective crime rate. A more ignitive allusion would be to put a child from one of your 'superior peoples' in a family which is amidst chaos - they're just as likely to do the same mate.

If the cause was your suggestion it would all hinge on white racism. us not giving them jobs not letting them buy houses, which puts them in this "chaos".
If it really was the case that the white population was so racist that they where keeping a whole race down, i'd think that in a democracy they'd all be deported.

And it doesn't all hinge on white racism. Something important to note is that the biggest migrations happened in a time where racism was accepted and it was very much alive. So, even though in most places, racism has been weakened, they're already find themselves in the ghettos of our world.
And yes, there are coloured people who feel resentment and walk around with a chip on their shoulder. But it's the same as white racists, who's views have manifested into hatred and superiority.

Whilst history was pretty mean to a lot of blacks I think it's defined every one of them, and I don't think there's room for a people who are detached from the majority because of it or their differing culture. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the problems are to do with where they are and the situation they find themselves in. Sure, there are some who blame white people for their misfortune and the ghettos they've been moved to, but in some cases, it's justified. I can think of many examples! NZ, the U.S, Australia and South Africa to name a few. Environment is absolutely key. Change the environment and you'll change the statistics, regardless of what race you are.

Well, it comes down to the interpretation that we apply to "race". Words often have numerous meanings to them. What's significant is the company with which the word keeps - this colours the meaning that triggers the 'light bulb' in our minds as to what we're actually referring to. You cannot broaden the scope of a word, choose a wider (and far less common in this instance) meaning and then proceed to call it a contradiction because the meaning you've given it doesn't sit correctly.
