  • Amen, Amen, Amen!!!

  • health is important...many times in the black community, skinny women are looked upon and extremely overweight women go around saying that they are thick....imo, overweight is not in a size or number.....you can be a size ten and have no stomach...even a size 14 with no extra flab....its about how your body is built...however, in the black community, we wink at being unhealthy n overweight n use words like thick fluffy ect...get healthy ppl WE cant waste away bc of a love for food

  • The key here isn't weight but being healthy as he said in the video. You can't just lose weight and throw in the towel. Losing weight doesn't make you healthy. It really is about an entire LIFESTYLE alteration. Eating right, exercise, monitoring stress levels, regular check ups, mental health, emotional health...etc. It's not an easy transition but the benefits are astounding and very much worth the effort.

  • Great message! And delivered well. Too bad Boris Kodjoe lacks your brains and class.

  • personally...i think Boris is entitled to his opinion, just like all of us are. i mean..if he's not into a 300 pound black woman...it's his right, just maybe, being a public figure i guess he shdnt have tweeted that...what i dnt get is why ppl think it's an insult what he tweeted. who did he insult. i think if anyone gets offended they are 300 pounds...well then they should be doing smn about it..and not be feeling offended.

  • Like as if non overweight whatever colour they are do no hv health pb. ple-ase.

I m sick of people jugding others as if they were doctors or specialist or expert on others life business.I m curious to know what you exactly did to so call help your "friend". They keep on expecting obese overweight people to hv diabletes, cholesterol, heart disease and much more The truth is not that simple. I feel that "thin" people need to check themself & not others: freely like that. Free of speech ok but..

  • @kciebenz He does focus on african american's being overweight but he clearly mentions other aspects as well. Just because you're skinny doesn't make you healthy that's a fact. We ALL need to be "checked". But if you are obese (not just overweight there's a difference) then yes it's very likely that you have/will develop diabetes mellitus (type 2), high ldl chlesterol, and hypertension. Being obese ISN'T necessary to have these health issues but it drastically increaes the chances that's a fact.

  • i meant to say it used to 150 pounds i was trying to lose at first

  • fat dudes take way more insults and hardship being fat then women im currently trying to lose 115 pounds used to be 150 pounds i was trying to lose so from experience fat dudes get talked about its no big deal fat chicks get talked about the dude is considered a bastard and an asshole

  • Fat is disgust5ing and Boris did the right thing in shaming them. Fat chicks often try to force themselves on us, claiming they are beautiful. Most men are not attracted to fast women, that's a fact. Obesity is not cute, it never has been and it never will. Fat women have the right to live how ever they want. If they see themselves as beautiful, then so be it, but they have to accept that we don't agree with that and they should beware when they try to force themselves on us.

  • This is one of the most mature videos about being overweight from a person who is not overweight, especially coming from a black man. I am overweight myself and you did not offend me. I completely agree with everything you said, and I am currently working on getting healthy. Thanks for the sensitivity, while still being honest. (still giving Boris the side eye though lol)

  • Great comments. I would like to point out that there are a lot of mental health issues that go unaddressed or treated within the "coloured" community period. There are those who eat when they are experiencing emotional difficulties or stress. I feel this is contributing to the obesity rate amoung coloured people (i.e. black, indian, latin people). I agree that its okay to be full figured but it is never okay to be obese. Remember obseity is a medical condition .

  • sweetie, it's not just the weight. Weight is a manifestation of what is going on inside. Ppl are battling with all kinds of issues related to health & wellness. It's all about self-care, not image for what we should look like per se...but choices. I As a black woman I make a choice to put me first, exercise daily, eat right, and take care of my mental health. No excuses. Self acceptance is key to identify the issue and work on it.

  • Maybe Boris should start a health campaign instead of tweeting insults. I am into health also and I agree with you in referece to coming up with solutions. Does he know that some of the people who make him rich are overweight???hmm. Something to think about.. Thanks for sharing.

  • Well spoken Kwan. I'm overweight and not in denial about it. But I think some people don't realize how hard it is. Some people are like just exercise and stop eating--yeah, sounds easy. But it's not. I love you guys' videos!

  • boris makes a movie every 5 years

     hes a non issue lol

  • Great way to make us look at ourselves in a way that shouldn't offend anyone, man or woman:)

    Thanks!

  • Great video! Well spoken:)

  • begin to workout, dont be alarmed if you start shedding pounds and inches like crazy and end up a size 2 or size 5, this happens all the time..

  • the focus instead of the ultimate look. I could be "thick" but i know that with healthy eating and exercise, that it is not natural for me. I would advocate for women to pick figure models with similar builds to them and work toward that. If you are a women with a body like Serena Williams, why try to have a body like Rihanna and vice versa. This mentality is damaging to your community. Also, chances are if you are a "thicker" woman who eats whatever you want and never works out, once you

  • The mentality in the black community is such that smaller women are told that they are too skinny, ie. solange, who probably works out but looks to be naturally smaller framed, and thick women are just right ie. the model toccara before she lost the weight. But the caveat is smaller women must gain weight, and thicker ones should stay the way they are, bc if they gain weight they'll be overweight. It would be far more helpful to our community if healthy living, and active lifestyles were

  • I liked this. You said this so well and in a respectful manner!!

  • Well said! Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you so much...this video has made me take a look at myself and really see what my family (daughter) has been trying to tell me for months. Sometimes it takes an "outsider" to make you see the light. I would like to thank you for how you tactfully delivered this video and it is much appreciated.

  • @Mochainde Hey Mochaine, this is Kwan. Thanks so much for supporting our videos and for your kudos. However, you are the person who deserves all of the praise in this situation because it takes an incredibly strong person to look in the mirror and be willing to better them self. So thanks to you for being an encouragement to me with your bravery and strength!
