@sasusakuis4ever Yeah, he wants to be the father figure. In an earlier episode when Buffy is tested to see if she can fight without her slayer strength. The council tries to fire Giles, because he has a "father's love" for her. And as for the second part, (Spoiler?) I think she only ever loved Angel, personally. Cause Riley said in an episode that she didn't love him. And in several episodes Spike admits she is just using him.

I don't think so, this song is from Buffy the vampire slayer, it's about Buffy and he thinks it's his fault that Buffy just can't move on after she's brought back to life when she died at the end of season 5. Giles < (anthony) Decided that it's better for her if he left.
