For such set-ups, how's the maintenance like?

Do u have to change water and such? Im using a huge tub... and already changing water is alot of work.. So for such indoor ponds...how is it like?

Reason -

I live in a small town, middle of nowhere in New Zealand and have started thinking about creating an outdoor habitat for mine to use in the summer but I'm not sure what I would need to do to make it safe for them to use it. Any additives needed for the water and such?

omg no petstore! my mom would kill to live were u live. lol i have a 30 gallon professionally built and desighned freshwater planted tank 2 breeding parakeets a lovebird and a cornsnake... my mom only loves birds hates my snake and the fish well... u cant really do shit with fish its more like a decoration. lol

i think you have to have a permit actually to own some types of turtles... could maybe have something to do with that.. i have no idea.. i just know when i go into the pet store, on the tank is a little paper saying you must have a 25 dollar permit to own these types of turtles.. i have no idea just a thought

The main cause of more than a quarter million cases of reptile-associated salmonellosis, primarily in children, occurred annually during the 1970s when the pet turtle craze was at its peak. I'm not saying that a 9-17 year old is going to stick a turtle in their mouth but you never know. 'They' think children will forget to wash their hands more likely than an adult.
