It isn't like people with disabilities asked to be born that way. They are different, and trying to grow up in a world catered to "normal," people is hard enough as it is, without the bullying. It says alot about a person who would belittle someone that is different; that they are not comfortable with whom they are and are evil. I love that Lauren is on this show because it really helps to "disable" a lot of stereotypes about so-called disabled people. I don't think that they should even be referred to as "disabled" though because the name itself implies that they are unable to do the same activities that many so-called "able-bodied" people can do. @TheAweshomeness Unfortunately it does happen. At my high school there were a lot of disabled kids and let me tell you, some assholes were not above making fun of them. Although usually it would be one asshole and the rest of us would just stare at him and be like "really dude? You're pathetic" instead of laughing. Even my best friend's brother who has a mild form of autism...you wouldn't believe some of the terrible things people have done to him since me and his sister graduated...

@TheAweshomeness The problem is there aren't enough special ed teachers out there because it can be very difficult to have to manage kids with disabilities, especially if you are in charge of a group of kids with varying levels of disabilities. Another problem is that a lot of high school kids are still at that stage where they are maturing into adulthood, dealing with peer pressure and trying to look cool. Also, they are very ignorant and the only way they know how to deal with it is making fun
