I can't believe those negative comments. The greatest saxophonists implement all sorts of growls and embouchure techniques to access a wide range of textures, why shouldn't guitarists try to emulate them. What he is doing is both tasteful and technically impressive, and it's surprising to me that listeners of jazz would be so scornful of such talent. Great video.
