the reason parramatta staion is so long is because they have a indian pacific station that stops there and, it was built for freight train stop overs. hope that helps :)

@StarKiller264 Umm... no, the Indian Pacific has never been a scheduled stop at Parramatta. Did pick up at Strathfield at one stage... The Indian Pacific has been over 700m long - no platform at Parra comes close...
@XboxJT1 No, the camera frame rate is destructively interfering with the 50Hz rate of the indicator board lights. To the human eye it would look fine. Simple Yr 10 physics.
