Sheridan Smith is AMAZING! She went to the Northern Theatre School, I go there! We are so proud that she has done so fabulous in the west-end, it gives Northern a great image too! :D
Man Sheridan improved as the show went on. I remember seeing this and thinking....oh god it’s dreadful. But she was amazing by the end. Her vocals got so much stronger. She was probs nervous here performing for the first time as Elle.

This performance was awful compared to how spectacular the cast actually are! Sheridan was slightly screechy and I didnt like how the melody was just thrown together. But live, they are AMAZING!!! The energy they have and the humour they portray is just seriously amazing! I applaud them for doing it 8 times a week!
b) the clapping drowns out the singing, therfore they have to sing louder and strain their voices
c) the show is much, much much better in the theate becuase the acoustics are better
d) the people who say "being nervous is not acceptable" this is live telivision, they have 5 minutes to get audiances to like the show, and as she has not done any live stuff before, it's fair for her to be nervous
Sorry, but Sheridan was very pitchy here. I thought this was a very bad performance. However, to those slagging of these performers, go and see the show! I've seen it twice and it was amazing! Sheridan is absolutely fantastic! This performance did them no justice. Bear in mind they were still in rehearsals and this was their first time performing to the public.

This was just to help promote the show and also to raise money for charity. Vivenne comes up at the end in the dark suit.They just got Duncan and Sheridan who plays Warner and Elle to sing Enid and Vivenne's bits for this performance because they are well known over in the UK. Sheridan's a tv actress and Duncan was in a boy band a few years back. Susan Mcfadden and Jill Halfpenny who play Serena and Paulette are also quite well known here so they get the limelight too.
sheridan is amazing, i love her and wish i could go and see this, and she was obviously nervous this night, she doesn't normally sing, we can forgive her one night, anyone with any musical ability can tell that any faults were just nervous slips, and she is not lacking any musical theatre capability whatsoever

it is not mean it is merely an observation. i am currently training to be in the west end and one of the fundamental aspects of singing is tuning. i'm not saying they are bad singers, but to promote a new west end musical on t.v. you expect a higher standard than that.
dot know why people slated this. the cast has a great sound and it got people on their feet. ok sheridan and duncan arent fantastic, but they had only been doing it a few days, they will get better.
You all need to sit back and read what youve put. It's not going to be the same as the orginal FULL STOP - there two different people taking Elles part so there never going to be the same. Sheridan is made for this role, and is doing a great great job, and doesn't deserve any of this I can't wait to see it - they did a brillaint job on children in need night, raising lots of money for a great charity. I think some people are failing to acknowledge the fact that the company only met for the first time and began rehearsals just four days before this performance. To have put all that together in such a short space of time is nothing short of incredible; but like I said they had only 4 days to do it, they're still mining the text, find their characters and learning the script/music/blocking. You cannot expect it to be indicative of the final product.
Nope, the first meet n greet/read through video was uploaded the Tuesday before this aired, just 3 days before. And it had been filmed the Monday.
Some of the principals did meet up to make the promo pop video about a month or so beforehand and that was uploaded along with a 'Making Of' the pop video. But they had only been rehearsing the show for 4 days by this point.
C'mon give her a break... It's the same with all the other shows! If it's been on stage before there are always differences! And everyone always likes the original because that's what they are familiar with! She was good and she will get way better!! And what's with the accent thing? Yes they are british doing an American accent.. It's not going to sound exactly the same but it's not awful!

I am sure when the show opens in december she will be fabulous. The casting team would not have cast her if she was not up to the job. Give her a break and have some faith.

There are soo many talented female performers in the UK that could have nailed the part. Why aren't they playing the role!By casting her in a part so big when she is clearly out of her depth is not only wrong, it makes the West End look amateur.
Sorry to be negative but it's the truth, the longer producers cast names and reality TV stars in lead and supporting roles who are way out of their depth, then the longer the West End will be 2nd to Broadway!

The ensemble were great and the majority of the cast are acceptable, but..Miss Smith is not going to be infinitely better onstage,I'm sorry she's not, her voice was flat, and does not make a good sound. I don't understand why she's playing the part, listen to the Broadway recording and tell me she's as good...you can't, because she's not.

It won't be like this in the actual production, silly! This is a medley so they could try and cram in as much of the show as possible. Unfortunately, it was a bad idea. They should have stuck to one show stopper, like So Much Better, to promote the show. I still have faith in them though. I've seen Sheridan perform and she was fantastic and incredibly powerful, I believe she'll pull it off when it opens. I'll get back to you when I've seen it!
Bailey didn't get it cancelled... it was already on its way out. The reason they partnered with MTV was to try and give the musical more publicity and keep it on Broadway. Bailey was simply a marketing tool, she probably kept it open longer than it would have otherwise... But I agree, LBB is fantastic and was wonderful as Elle!

I've heard nothing but great things about this show and they said they were extremely nervous.
I'm going to see it and I usually hate musical theatre.
Sheridan's worth it alone.

@BroadwayBootlegs121 They had to do this like the tour version because they didn't have room for the sorority house etc. In the actual production they have everything the broadway one has :)

@krazykittymatt I saw it last Wednesday. If I shut my eyes I wouldn't have been able to tell it was Duncan, he's got a whole different voice!

I'm actually REALLY glad to hear that they are doing good, one I love Sheridan, two I love Legally Blonde and three, I would like to think that Duncan is more than a handsome face!!!
But I REALLY hate the way they did the hair in this show, it is so UnElle!!!

It wasn't that bad! I think Sheridan was possibly just really nervous, I saw her in the show on Monday and she was insanely good! Honestly, I love her and even I was surprised at how good the show was!

Elle and Warner were terrible in that performance! I'm going to see it a few days after xmas and I really hope it will not be that bad!!! The rest of them were AMAZING mind you. :)

did they change the lyrics for that particular show or on the musical? i think it was just for the show. she is very pretty in the music video. why did they put so much make up? she looks like a drag queen. sorry, sheridon. i would have liked to see Vivian and the other girl.

You guys are mean. OK, maybe it's not that good. But trying, you British and have to sing and act in an American accent is not good. And the first time the promote the musical, ON NATIONAL TV. Cut some slack! They were good. 'Cause you're not there, doing all this, is them who are fuckin' themselves. You sit and type!

it is not mean it is merely an observation. i am currently training to be in the west end and one of the fundamental aspects of singing is tuning. i'm not saying they are bad singers, but to promote a new west end musical on t.v. you expect a higher standard than that.

dot know why people slated this. the cast has a great sound and it got people on their feet. ok sheridan and duncan arent fantastic, but they had only been doing it a few days, they will get better.

You all need to sit back and read what youve put. It's not going to be the same as the orginal FULL STOP - there two different people taking Elles part so there never going to be the same. Sheridan is made for this role, and is doing a great great job, and doesn't deserve any of this I can't wait to see it - they did a brillaint job on children in need night, raising lots of money for a great charity. Well done guys!!! xxxxx

I think some people are failing to acknowledge the fact that the company only met for the first time and began rehearsals just four days before this performance. To have put all that together in such a short space of time is nothing short of incredible; but like I said they had only 4 days to do it, they're still mining the text, find their characters and learning the script/music/blocking. You cannot expect it to be indicative of the final product.

Nope, the first meet n greet/read through video was uploaded the Tuesday before this aired, just 3 days before. And it had been filmed the Monday.
Some of the principals did meet up to make the promo pop video about a month or so beforehand and that was uploaded along with a 'Making Of' the pop video. But they had only been rehearsing the show for 4 days by this point.

C'mon give her a break... It's the same with all the other shows! If it's been on stage before there are always differences! And everyone always likes the original because that's what they are familiar with! She was good and she will get way better!! And what's with the accent thing? Yes they are british doing an American accent.. It's not going to sound exactly the same but it's not awful!

I thought it'll be similar that of Broadway when it comes to energy and how the brought up the whole show...

urm not really. In many cases the west end is of a much higher standard than broadway - chitty chitty bang bang - chicago (revival) - Crazy for you - Cats - Blood Brothers - etc. Dont bash the west end and our performers. And guys dont judge them on a 5 min medley, have some faith. Also we are a small island with less resources than broadway u have america!!!!!!!! We have ourselfs. Think before you comment.

If you read what I've written, i'm talking about this show and similar shows where people are cast because of their name rather than their talent.
I'm not bashing west end performers, I never would. we have excellent talent in the UK but they shine if roles r given to tv stars. Also if your going to use show's like chitty chitty bang bang and cats as proof that we are better than broadway, i think you'd better find something with more gravitas anybody can fly a car round a stage!

Seriously? I don't think Sheridan has been cast because of her name..if they were going to that ( no offence to her intended ) they would have picked someone with a much bigger name is showbiz.

I'm just saying that they are trying to speak in American accents when their actual accent is British. Their accents aren't natural. I mean, in New York, Mary Poppins isn't as good as it was in the West End, they are British but they are using an American accent.

you should never excuse the accents.. im sorry , but if im going to see a production in west end or braodway.. i EXPECT!! the accent to be top notch.. becuase 1 they should be trained and not just famous people who are shit... and 2.. ive paid money! so i exspect a pro performance not amature... so accents should be there. they should have them,,,

Listen guys, stop bashing her just because she wasnt completely brilliant on some tv perfomance in a 5 min medley. No, she wasnt spectacular, but I saw her in little shop of horrors and she was fantastic. She has a great voice, can dance, and looks great. I am sure when the show opens in december she will be fabulous. The casting team would not have cast her if she was not up to the job. Give her a break and have some faith.

There are soo many talented female performers in the UK that could have nailed the part. Why aren't they playing the role!By casting her in a part so big when she is clearly out of her depth is not only wrong, it makes the West End look amateur.
Sorry to be negative but it's the truth, the longer producers cast names and reality TV stars in lead and supporting roles who are way out of their depth, then the longer the West End will be 2nd to Broadway!

nerves, sound, live performance.....whatever they're professionals and have to deal with it. The ensemble were great and the majority of the cast are acceptable, but..Miss Smith is not going to be infinitely better onstage,I'm sorry she's not, her voice was flat, and does not make a good sound. I don't understand why she's playing the part, listen to the Broadway recording and tell me she's as good...you can't, because she's not.

Nerves aren't an excuse, but I always wonder how well they can hear themselves and the orchestra in such a situation.
I can imagine she's infinately better on stage, performing in a studio always appears to have a severly negative effect.

It won't be like this in the actual production, silly! This is a medley so they could try and cram in as much of the show as possible. Unfortunately, it was a bad idea. They should have stuck to one show stopper, like So Much Better, to promote the show. I still have faith in them though. I've seen Sheridan perform and she was fantastic and incredibly powerful, I believe she'll pull it off when it opens. I'll get back to you when I've seen it!

Bailey didn't get it cancelled... it was already on its way out. The reason they partnered with MTV was to try and give the musical more publicity and keep it on Broadway. Bailey was simply a marketing tool, she probably kept it open longer than it would have otherwise... But I agree, LBB is fantastic and was wonderful as Elle!

REMBER! Sheridan was almost peeing herself as she was so extremely nervous. It's why some longer notes sound a little shaky.
All the cast are excellent and they will be great after the first few weeks of the show in London!
