All I gotta say is thank you for sharing your extraordinary, incredible talent. You play funk, blues, soul, and even rock with the best of them. Bravo
Always one of my favorite bassists to watch, but I'd like to see what you can do on a Spector bass. Guess I'll have to make a trip to Denmark to find out and bring one with me, eh?
It really doesn't sound all that much different from his jazzes to be honest. It has a bit more growl and is a bit cleaner but honestly if you think they sound that that much different you may be seeing a bit more with your eyes than what you're hearing with our ears.
Greatly Appreciated!!! Thanks a lot. I was wondering if you had anything to deal with 5-string basses and the issues that arise with the spacing of the strings when slapping and plucking. Once again Great stuff man!!!
Marlowe, I love ALL your videos. It has inspired me to pick up my bass again.
I have 2 questions for you. What kind of strings are you using on this video? You obviously are a professional. Where can we hear some of your professional work?
The strings are DR Black beauties, but ill have to repeat what i always say: It makes no significant difference - All round wound strings sounds very alike - the core of the bass sound is not in the strings! People ask to the strings so many times its funny, and I often forget what brand is on my basses - i cannot hear the difference! BUT, strings are very different - playing and feeling wise. For instance i DONT like Black beauties - lol! (they were on when i bought this bass)
Thank you, MarloweDK. I agree that the strings aren't the main source of tone. That comes from the heart of the player! I was just curious because I had never seen them before. Also, thank you for the information concerning your pro work. You are fantastic and I'd like to hear more of you work. Thank you also for inspiring me to pick my bass back up again.
why dont you do your bass covers of songs anymore?? I LOVED those. If youre worried about copyright, you just need to indicate in the info area that you have posted this video for enjoyment purposes only and that no copyright infringement is intended.
I love your videos - you've got great variety in terms of style and your grooves are almost universally tasteful and (maybe most importantly) fun to play!
Hey, great lesson. would you mind telling me about the bass you are using? fantastic sound. is it a warwick ?

Your videos are awesome, but dude... C'mon... put away that crappy warwick, that modern sound doesn't fit you.

@bassbenni oops, your right... should have looked closer. if warwicks look wasn't so sexy it could be annoying they mostly look so similar :)

Unfortunately the heart doesn't pluck the strings. However a huge part of the sound comes from the fingers and the way the strings are plucked.
