@oscarrlopezg Actually I am a lot more optimistic today than I was on the day of that post up there... I live in a crappy small town with no culture these days so I'm often exposed to the crap that people listen to in these crappy small towns with no culture...

I went on a road trip, caught a few shows at a few venues... perspective's quite different. There *is* a lot of good stuff out there--but Arcade Fire is still completely awesome. :)

I will always believe in music, but you gotta admit--there is a lot of crap out there. But that's true about every era. The 70's that brought us David Bowie and the Doors also brought us Disco. The 80's? The 90's? As nostalgic as I am for Nirvana and Alice In Chains, you can't forget that they shared the same decade with Creed and Vanilla Ice

I am reminded of Janice Joplin, where her performances are greater than her voice, not that she can't sing but that heart and soul poured into each performance is greater than her pipes. What we see is no fear, what we hear is a passion for the words. When you pour yourself into the meanings of words, the melody sings itself , no matter from whom. Her voice works for her music , like Stevie Nicks gitar voice, works for her music, Regina's works for this catharic avalanche of creativity.

In response to the comment of arcade fire being the last rock and roll band. I think you've got it so so wrong. Arcade fire are my favourite band but to say they are going to be the last rock and roll band is like saying Beethoven was the last true composer of classical music. I think genres are so diluted nowadays that the term rock and roll has became vague. There will be more "rock and roll" bands in the future and the reason why other bands like arcade fire is that they are an amazing band.

Cyndi plays a lap dulcimer. Btw, she was there because it was at a festival that she was performing at on another stage. She is a truly amazing talent that put on an extraordinary show earlier at the fess (no misspell for those who know).

I was there as well and afterwards was inspired to add Neon Bible and Funeral to my copy of The Suburbs. To REALLY appreciate the album though and understand it from Win's perspective one would have to go to Houston and then drive through the sprawl of Katy,Texas. I mean imagine growing up where there was loads of fun at Astroworld, Waterworld and Bush Gardens.And now there's nothing except for Herman Park Zoo. It truly feels like place where no children live. BTW,I Love AF and am 52 .

Between this and the swing version of "She Bop" on Jimmy Fallon (wasn't televised, but NBC put out the video), I've gained new respect for her. And it's kind of poignant that she's about old enough to be Regine's mom.

@flimflam384 Arcade fire are deadly but they are not really a "rock band". It is hard to place their style of music as it is quite unique, but rock it is not.

There will be rare bands out there that still come out with awesome stuff, but given the way of the music industry today you probably wont be hearing them on the radio. Singers no longer get on the radio, celebs do.

Alex, aka Woody, is dearly missed by his friends and family....in fact, we just celebrated his life last weekend by throwing a drum'n'bass party at an observatory in the mountains near his hometown Canberra. Woody is the BIG CHIEF!
