Actually she's a full-grown Goffin. This is as big as they get. We've sold her to a very loving family since our daughter, her owner, has gotten married and moved away. Warning: cockatoos are fun and a HOOT, but they take a lot of time and attention or they get bored and unhappy. A Cockateil is a much better pet for those who don't want to commit to a Cockatoo. They're smaller, very loving, and lower key.

They're amazing. Goffins have the IQ of a 3-year-old and Umbrellas probably do, too. Ours could get out of her cage until I escape-proofed it with bungee chords and a few sheets of aluminum. They need to chew on stuff...perches, sticks, FURNITURE IF YOU LET THEM, etc. Ours could sit on your wrist and unscrew your watch stem so fast you couldn't believe it. She could also un-do bolts in her cage. You're in for a treat. Just know they're very, very smart.
Well, we picked up our umbrella yesterday, and she attacked me, and bit my hand, bit my moms hand and we cant even hold her, so 24 hours, and we have to return/find new home for her. shes shreaking right now, because we are all scared of her now. my mom grew up with birds, so we know how to care for her, but this one was abbused, and so shes freaking out. So, after this, no more abused birds for us.
That's sad. We got our Goffin when she was so small we had to hand-feed her bird formula, so she was raised in a very gentle, loving home. Sorry you had this bad experience.
@sagwasunshine Working with a disturbed bird isn't easy. It takes a huge amount of patience and understanding. Getting bit in the first place shows that you guys didn't understand what was really going on in the bird's head. Kudos for trying to rescue her, but now, because you may not have understood how to deal with her problems, she may have developed new ones, and may cause her new home to do the same. Parrot psychology is tricky, and takes real experienced people to work with them.

Se is so cute... My Goffin does that but with empty med. bottles. I have to put beans or pennies in them to make it rattle and he will shake them wildly to hear the noise and then will roll around and play. I love watching them play with things. They get so excited and worked up. Such cute birdies.

But don't go out and buy a cockatoo because it is cute here! The owners obviously take good care of her. These birds need lots of love and attention and can be very demanding. Only people who can provide a good, loving, safe home should have one for a pet.

Interesting about the Corella thing. I Googled it and got this: "Short Billed Corella, Cacatua sanguinea", so maybe it's both, huh? The Latin name sure looks like Cockatoo to me.

adorable!! My quaker died a few days ago, my 2 westies got to her :( but this vid was a real pick me up. It being so quiet in the house it doesn't feel right so we were thinking of a goffin,... is soo cute lol
I have since set up an entire bird room. The dogs will not have access and neither will company for that matter. Keeping the door locked will discourage any accidents and allow my babies to fly around and play on the playgym with a cd playing.
I hate the fact that people cut their wings all the time…
