  • I'm in the USA came here when I was in 6th grade, I vaguely remember watching this series with my grandfather in India who passed on. My mom got the series so we could watch them together and she could kinda explain as we watched, the language is a little difficult for me at times. I dont understand why they didnt teach us about this kinda stuff more in India rather than 10 years of Independence stuff...This is possibly the best Indian anything I have ever watched. Chanakya is a amazing series

  • i believe in chanakya neethi and shanthi sloka ,we must show our childrens this clips about chanakya

  • Really i remember my golden days....so talented directors and actors..and costume designers...Hats off to all the crew members :) VIVA !!

  • Superb series with excellent direction & acting by Mr Chadraprakash Dwivedi. Its surprising that where those great people have vanished who provided us these great serials on Doordarsha in late 80's & early 90"s....

  • Anybody mind telling me whose voice it is? Male lead? Female lead? I will be grateful.

  • @manmahajan really no idea of that ! all singers in this serial were awesome though

  • @teentunes, the male lead in particular is divine! Hence I was wanting know whose voice it is. I still remember, the original credits used to show Ustad Sayeeduddin Dagar. But I wasn't sure, so I thought some knowledgeable soul might confirm.

  • superb , no other thing in he world to com[pare with nation..........

  • Beautiful wordings and peaceful..

  • Beautiful wordings and peaceful..

  • This is as secular player as it can be....

  • There is only thing that is history, which we can learn good ones, Chanakya type history gives human to grow/change or it shows perfect way to implement himself. this kind of serials, videos encourages modern people.

  • this is best (realistic) serial in indian tv history excellent

  • Shall be thankful if someone can provide translation to the mantra written by nidhirajgr8

  • @hiavinash1

Hey, someone already posted the meaning, look for post from peacebaba....

Indeed i liked this phrase so much...

    bye

  • यतो यतः समिहसै ततो न अभयं कुरु। श: न: गुरु प्प्रजोभ्योऽभयं नः पशुभ्यः॥ सुशंतिर्र भवतुह!!

  • @nidhirajgr8

Dear Friend: My inention is not to find fault. I am just drawing your attention to a possible error. I think it should read ".......shannah: kuru.....". My apologies if I am wrong.

The entire sloka would read as "Yato yata samihase, tato namh, abhayam kuru, shanah: kuru prajabhyo, Bhayannah pashubhyah, su shantir bhavatoo, su shantir bhavatoo, su shantir bhavatoo, Om"

  • thank u for posting it cuz i listen to this mantra every morning. it's my morning prayer.

  • Indeed this Ved Mantra is divine and made for humans. The peaceniks and environmentalists will find here whatever they wish for. The mantra has eleven short sentences ten complete in themselves but the eleventh one about man seeking peace relies on the previous ten. When the celestial bodies, the elements of nature and the Brahm Jnyan are harmony personified, why is man bereft of it? He craves for peace or Shantih but it eludes him. Why? It sets us thinking.

  • A free rendering into English will run thus: The celestial bodies in the firmament exist in harmony; harmony permeates space, earth waters, herbals and foliage, bounties of nature, divine knowledge, one and all around: harmony and harmony: O God may that harmony (Peace) be a part of my personality.

  • That is so beautiful. And like you said, it has everything one could wish for while seeking peace.

  • ``Aum dyauh Shantirantariksham shantih prithvi

    Shantirapah Shantiroshadhaya shantih. Vanaspatayah

    Shantir vishvedevah shantirbrahma shantih Sarvam

Shantih Shantireva Shantih Sa Ma Shantiredhi.

  • Can someone kindly post the shlokas or mantras in devnagiri

  • Dowry was widely practiced in Europe. Greek practice was to give a brideprice. Dowries were exchanged in the later classical time. Dowry is a common practice in many Asian countries, including Bangladesh> Pakistan> and some parts of India

so this tradition as well as ghunghat tradition were brought to India by Muslims & cristions when they invaded India destroying temples and Buddhist monasteries.

and this dowry system gave birth to killing baby girl in mothers stomach

  • @monsterraghs the muslims also let their girls divorce and they get money upon divorce, i wonder, why the hindus of that time didn't take that as well. one more thing, i think muslims eat halal food, why didn't hindus start eating halal food too, and they ate beef, why didn't hindus eat beef too. C'mon stop simplifying traditions and blaming it on one community. Why don't hindus practice swamwara still, why don't some brahmins eat with low castes as Krishna did? ignorant people .

  • yato yata samyasya tatoe na abhayam guru

    shanyatha puru prajaha-abhyyoh bhayanaya pashubhya

when the reverence for a teacher is lost , such King and his praja becomes an animal kingdom.

( huh that was best I could try ask , a sanskrit scholar)

    yato : when this

    samhasya : gives up

abhayam : forgiveness ( here it might be reverence )

    guru : u know

    puru : King

    pashubhyaha : animal like

  • thanks mate !!

  • Tnx .. could you tell me where i can get the last phrase in sankrit... and some other popular sankrit phrases in sankrit or devanagari script..

    tnx for giving the meaning

  • if it isn't much trouble could you do the same for the bit in between as well. from "sarve" to all the way to after the man sings the shanti bit.

  • 1(om) sarvae janaah sukhino (bhav)antu 2Sarvae santu niramayaha 3sarvae bhadhrani pashyantu 4ma kaha chit dukha bhag bhavet. 1Aum, may all people be happy 2May all people be free from worries 3May all people's difficulties be seen 4May no one anywhere be unhappy. sarvae : all Janaha : Person bharani : of people Dukha : Pain/Unhappiness niramaya : worry/tension chit : conscious part of mind
  • i hate to bother you some more but could you also translate for me the list the man goes through. gahu shanti antariksha shanti aapah shanti and so on. i don't know what all those words mean and i can't find their meaning anywhere on the net.

  • Dont hate to bother me when issue is peace and hate never leads to peace .

    om

Dhyauh Shanti : meditate on peace

antariksh shanti : peace is in space (antariskh = planetary region)

prithvee shanti : peace is in earth

Rapah shanti : Water is cooling(peacefull)

oshadhaya shanti " Medical Herbs are peace(healing is peace)

  • Your translation is incorrect.

The first line is "dyauh shantihi" not "dhyauh shanti". "Dyauh" in Sanskrit is the nominative singular form of "dyaus", which means 'sky'.

So, the lines go: peace be to the sky (dyauh), peace to the heavens (antariksh), peace to the earth (prithvi), peace to the waters(aapah), peace to the plants(aushadha), peace to the fruit/vegs(vanaspati) ... etc.

  • vansaptayah shanti : Plants are peace giving

vishvae-devaha shanti : Lord of universe symbolises peace

kamas : Peace to our Desire

krodha : Peace to our anger

brahmas shanti : Knowledege of eternal leads to peace

sarvas shanti : Peace is everywhere

shanti reva shanti : Peace leads to peace (inner depths)

sa ma shanti redhi : Peace resides in every element

    Yajurveda 36/17

  • Namaste ji, This is the simple Translation given below. In depth we can explain entire Vedas through this.

    O Supreme Formless GOD !

Lead us FROM, ever changing Prakruti (body, senses, mind etc., ) TO NEVER changing ETERNAL SUPREME SOUL (GOD)

Lead us FROM, AVIDYA TO REAL WISDOM of worldly materials. SOUL (SELF) & SUPREME SOUL the GOD

Lead us FROM, the worldly materials which are destroyable in nature TO NEVER destroyable SOUL (SELF) & SUPREME SOUL the GOD.

  • @aanandamaharishi Wow! Thats the correct "translation" - the one I was looking for. All the other are mere "transliteration" - a mere word by word language substitution. You're the only one, who has given some actual hint towards the "vhawarth" of this great slok.

Yes, all the three lines say the same thing, but using slightly different words. Its in the third line, that we get a glimpse of the real meaning of this slok. Thank you sir, for the translation.

  • Thanks a lot

  • Thanks for the video! I've been hunting for years for this online... It is my all time favorite serial. How we used to see serials of amazing quality once... Now turn on the TV and all we get is crappy sas-bahu stuff :(
