Murray will soon win a slam imo! Federer will only win 1 slam a year and two next year maybe if he gets more consistent, but the match earlier today shows that Murray can have a graphold mentally on Fed like Nadal has, and what Murray are able to more than Roger imo is beating Nadal, Fed is simply too inconsistent and want points to end more quickly, and that´s exactly what Murray and Nadal feeds on, if Hewitt had weapons he could allso be a threat!
i think those who scold murray actually don know wat's happening.......u f***kers understand tat federer is nervous only of tis man and he's no more nervous abt nada...he has told abt tis before atp world tour in london.....even though he has not won any slams the why tennis legends like sampras, agassi and rafter r more concerned abt him than djokovic or del potro....bcos his time has not cum yet but he's the best player in the circuit now next to roger
yes there are other good players out there but none as good as federer. as you saw against murray in the australian final, federer wasnt even out of third gear.
Yeah, but Murray played sh*t tennis imo. xD But yeah, I don't think anyone can beat Federer when he's playing his best tennis. It would be cool if someone did though.
Yeah, well, i think if Federer is playing his best againt Nadal, he'd stay close to the baseline at all times, go for high-risk shots and such. But yeah,, maybe Nadal could...
@TrolloftheTube - See its my point of view... I have seen Federer play spectacular tennis against Nadal hitting shots no one could return .... yet nadal sent back those shots be it wimbledon 2008 or even australian open 2009.
since then nadal hasnt been as fast as he did.... he isnt able to return shots like before .... Obviously I was always aware that Nadal would beat Federer always until he could run well.. and as long as he could he would be better... now i think thats questionable!
Well you are wrong if you think Federer did not play his best tennis against nadal in the Australian Open 2009. He had winners in the first three sets .... all over the place.... but if you recollect.. Nadal was able to run down so many important points which looked lost by him .. and then end up winning them... That broke Federers game in the end.. and with that his confidence. You just dont see Federer crying over stupid losses, but that one hurt him bad coz he knew he played really well!
Unfortunately I didn't get to watch that match, I was just going based on what I heard, like his serve broke down in the 3rd or 4th set? I'll see if I can find that match somewhere online.
youd only find highlights online... because australian open is usually copyrighted for two years or more .. so if the final was in 2009, the match is copyrighted not to go on youtube for two years or something to that effect.
thats the reason you dont see australian open matches on youtube.. look for this years matches.. you wouldnt find much either..
US OPEn im not so sure.... Because I have seen matches on here tooo.
But Australian open, youd hardly find a video since 2008 I think they copyrighted it.. hence youtube takes down all australian open matches that are posted here..
Some may still have succeeded to stay on .... Like I saw someone post a video of this years match in australia and stated it was the US open .. lol..
that was one of the only videos i saw that survived on youtube.
Besides Federer played some extremely high risk tennis against Nadal trying to pepper the lines as much as possible to make sure Nadal could not get a return.. His winners were unusually high on that night.... but so were his unforced errors coz he was going for more than he usually had to..
ANd the difference was primarily on main points where Nadal ended up taking the first and third sets in tie breaks .
nadal is a greta player and competitor but in my opinion he has pushed his body to get to federers level and it is now taking its toll on him. i fear he will forever be plagued with niggly injuries here and there from now on
@TrolloftheTube - Well imo.... the new champion will not come out of the current crop now.. coz Nadal will nto be able to run as fast as he used to.. and unless he improves his serve to win free points ... its seemingly imposisble to be the best again..
But then again Murray's game is super consistent but mediocre.
till federer is around murary wont win a slam .. and by the time fed is gone.. if anyone else with a versatile game comes along its even more difficult for murray!
I think Del Potro can beat Federer when he's playing his best. But that's just based on his play style, I would like to see a match between the 3 of them when they're BOTH playing spectacular tennis.
@TrolloftheTube - Well Federer is able to beat people consistently and lose once in awhile except with Nadal Del Potro sure his game can be lethal on good day bt he is unable to be as consistent on a regular basis& tahts why he doesnt win more. as he tends to lose early rounds in slams - more likely than Federer losing in earlier roundsBut yes , Fed is now going Tennis old.28 is young but tennis wise its considered old and the body may start runnin out on him. matter of time Id say !
i disagree. i dont think played shit tennis. when it came to class and the ability to handle the pressure federer was head and shoulders above murray.
i want to see federer win every grand slam. the guy is pure class (on and off the court) and a living legend.
Well, Murray played well in the third set. But before that he was just trying to use cheap tactics, like targeting Federer's backhand hoping for an unforced error. If he'd just played more like he did against Nadal, he might have won a set
@troll - well lets face it, murray has been achieving tremendous success against Federer in the past due to his continuous pounding at Federers backhand which would end up giving in. a trick Nadal's topspin would always successfully break down. Against Nadal it was different because Nadal stands so far behind to receive serve, any angled serve would put Nadal on the defensiveand Murray would volley the next vital shot away. Murray was really lucky he won the first two sets against Nadal.
Yes, I agree with you partially, because even when he didn't get his 1st serve in he was always playing offensively attacking Nadal's second serve. But against Federer he often hit weak, looping returns off the second serve, and that really hurt him in the end. He really just didn't play with the same intensity as he did against Nadal.
But Troll you must understand Federers second serve is almost as effective as Nadal's first serve. Federes second serve has so much kick.Nadal's second serve is a whimper in comparison . Its easier to attack Nadal on serve IFF you learn his serve patterns which are predictable over time. If you dont then Nadals serve is very difficult to keep in the court.
Federers serve goes up high on murrays backhand . thereby he has to make his own pace .
Murray is unable to generate his own pace. Look at his forehand.. Loop a few forehands to his forehand and he just places it well .. he just cant generate pace.
The reason his backhand goes really hard is because he has learnt how to time the ball off the opponents pace on the backhand pretty well.
Nadal Murray match wasnt as easy as it lukd. Nadal kept to Murrays backhand. And murray has mastered the art of timing his backhand on nadals topspin from the backhand side. !
I half agree with you there, but I have seen Murray on a few occasions generate his own pace.
To counter Federer's kick second serve, he should stand inside the baseline. It may hurt him in the beginning of the match, but as he grows more accustomed to the serve he'll be able to hit better returns.
He also needs to work on his placement, because his shots generally lack pace, he needs to aim closer to the lines imo.
Well it sortov depends. Murray does lack pace for which he needs to aim for hte lines.. but it depends on your stroke style.. sometimes the style of your strokes are such that in odd situations you are unable to hit the lines because even if you aim for them, you tend to hit the ball much within the lines.. Few people who successfully did it were monica seles, serena williams now and sampras. Oh and hingis in the earlier years hit the lines and successfully almost each time.
thats the problem. playing well in one set in not going to beat a guy like federer.
i still maintain that murrays problem is not lack of ability. it is his ability to handle pressure in the business end of grand slams and on the big points.
Murray was building on his stamina and strength, they dont get much chance to do it on down time as they dont get much of it. Murray used his sheer talent to take Roger out. Now its 2010 and Murray is now fully fit has built his stamina and strength....its all good for tennis. Murray still has his aggression its just contained and directed more.
taking 4 games in a row i thought federer would own murray in straight sets 6-4 7-6 :( wtf feddd.....he was so out of form after he lost that tiebreak
Roger was in pain here and you can plainly see it in his game. However he did an amazing job to play to the level he did. Most others would have called off injured. Great game from Murray and Roger...loved watching these two play their games are so similar. roll on 2009
Murray's game is boring. Please bring back the Rafter, Edberg, Sampras, Becker, Agassi, Stichs. Baseliners like Murray, Djokovic and Del Potro are boring to watch.
Murray, Djokovic, Nadal and Del Potro are all athletes. Federer has had to get fitter to be able to compete otherwise these guys would just continue to outlast him.
Federer is actually one of the fittest guys on the men's tour, if not the fittest. A good example was his match against Del Potro in the Roland Garros semi-final this year. He won because he was able to outlast Del Potro physically over 5 sets. Also Del Potro had spent considerably less time on court compared to Federer prior to that match.
aye i can only think nadal is fitter minus the injuries i mean the wimbledon final you saw the fighter within roger it was quite scary to be honest lol
Are you kidding? Murray wasn't fit at all until about a year ago. Even now, he isn't as fit as Federer or Nadal. Djokovic is the guy who wimps out when the weather's too hot no matter how big the match is. Nadal has more problems with injuries than any other top player and Del Potro can't even play at a high level for 3 sets, forget 5. Federer is just as fit if not fitter than all those guys. You never see him out of breath or losing his legs at the end of a match. He isn't injured much either.
Federer does manage his health better and thay is why he has been at the top for so long. But Murrays fitness is just as good now, Now it all comes down to the tennis. Murray has a 6/3 head to head over Federer, how many can say that ?
What's your problem? All I was saying is that Federer's fitness is incredibly underrated because he's so graceful around the court rather than just running and sprinting and sliding this way and that like most of the other top players. What does Murray's head to head record have to do with my comment at all? I never said that Murray's fitness wasn't among the best in the game now, I just said it wasn't until he really committed to it about a year and half ago.
Ok please leave me alone. Ask any tennis expert and they'll say the reason Murray has risen so much since Wimbledon 2008 is because he improved his fitness a ton. He wasn't nearly as fit then as he is now. And as for the other comment you cited, that's my opinion. Good luck disproving an opinion. So please, don't waste my time with your infatuation with Murray or your hype of a player who hasn't won a single Grand Slam yet.
lets put it this way, federer had a bad back and played fairly badly and still just about lost. murray played to his near best and only just came through! i still think federer can win a couple more slams....
he didnt play that well. his shots werent goin all that deep mainly cuz he didnt play well. he played ok but not great. i do enjoy watchin murray play however
I know you are not talking about yourself but you are calling some one an egomaniac who has very right to be so because he has earned it. And you have no right to say that because you are nobody. If it was nadal or murray. I can understand, but coming from is what angers me.
I have the my right to gave my opinion, well i dont know in your country how it works, but here, people gave opinions, and critics, i have the right to put my point of view, if you dont like dont read that easy it is.and i dont what angers you, its just a game,a sport, if i wast talking about your family and someone you know, i will understand your anger. but its just a tennis player, who is a Egomaniac, cant stand loose
First the response was to "rogi44" cause he say something about murray's ankles, and the point is in my opinion Federer can stand loose, just see him when he lose, when he lost in australia, Crying, when he lost in Idian Wells, a handshake not so nice, when he lost in Australia 2008 he say he was sick (but stil reach to semifinal) and youre right his ego wasn't destroyed, theres alredy destroy since last year..
hahaha, when some one cries it doesnt know show how much ego he had, instead an ego maniac would never cry but try to blame his lost sometthing else. It is a match, he is going to be disappointed when he loses but saying his ego was destroyed is a completely different story. He didnt start like Nadal as a child prodigy , he actually took time to win his first title. Person like Roger cant have ego when he has seen that Ego leads you know where. Anger and ego was the game change that earned him.
When some one cries his ego its destroyed, people like Roger who has been number one 3 or 4 years and then starts to loose, and with nadal,Murray etc, and then came to number 2 he was used to be number one, be on the top gave him EGO, no one cant beat him til murray and nadal came out and start to win him, thats the begining, he needs starts to see there many players can beat hime 2005 and 06 its past now theres players with more talent, and the media put him in that position, thats why he
he make an excuse when he lost he cant say yeah he's play better than me, at least i never hear saying that about Murray, or djokovic when they beat him, his Ego its to Big to say that
oh come on, you are such a novice. He has always admit that he has a nadal complex and confessed that he hasnt figured out how to defear murrray yet. He does always admire the player he lost to and also admits that his opponent deserved it. Thats why he is liked so much around the world. Otherwise he would have ended up like djokovic who no body likes.
You got it wrong man, people cry because his hopes didnt come true. He had hopes that he could win the 14th but he didnt. thats why he cried.
sure man always make an excuse whe he lost in australia last year he say he was sick... sure he was sick but still reach to semifinals lol... im glad djokovic win in Rome, and still McCenroe give his help and he dont take it... his EGO his gona kill him..
Absolutely, the way he rolls his racket on forehand to change the direction. But power seems to be missing at times, though he has lot of variety. I may be wrong. And, no doubt, his cross court backend is 140+ zoooom !!!!
He does that on purpuse, to change the speed and movement of the game. Its not all about power for him, similar to Federer, some weaker players play off your strengh, so if you give them a soft ball back, they net it coz they were expecting power to hit off of.
Murray has the power if he needs it, he just doesnt need to use it on all shots. Its clever gamesmanship from Murray. He mixes it up, short/long/hard/soft not all players can do that. 2009 will be so interesting
I believe the key to murray's success this year will not be in his groundstrokes- which are always superb-, but his serving, an aspect of his game which does occasionally cause him some trouble but doesn't always prove too costly because his return of serve is so good. Basically, i feel that when he serves well, he cannot lose.
Couldn't agree more !!!! His return is all time best(even ever). The way he returns Roddick and that other tall lanky player(don't recall his name - who beat Federer in tie-breaks last year), nobody seems to doing that so effortlessly...
God i know, you watch some players just get blown off the court by the serves of people like roddick karlovic(?), then murray comes along and somehow manages to put would-be aces not just back into play, but into deep or tricky positions! Back that up with his terrific defencive and counter attacking skills and he's a pretty scary propisition for "one-shot wonder" kind of players like sam querrey and so on.
I love watching Roger and Andy playing, the game is just so clever. Its not all power hitting, its all the arsnal they have. Its inspiring to watch. Andy will learn alot from Roger playing him more, they are both good tactitions and clever games men. I want wait for Roger to get his health back and for 2009 to start. Brilliant for tennis. Roger your a legend, Andy your doing so well just now. Good luck to you both

Federer does manage his health better and thay is why he has been at the top for so long. But Murrays fitness is just as good now, Now it all comes down to the tennis. Murray has a 6/3 head to head over Federer, how many can say that ?
CASPER10666 2 years ago
What's your problem? All I was saying is that Federer's fitness is incredibly underrated because he's so graceful around the court rather than just running and sprinting and sliding this way and that like most of the other top players. What does Murray's head to head record have to do with my comment at all? I never said that Murray's fitness wasn't among the best in the game now, I just said it wasn't until he really committed to it about a year and half ago.
dwilliams02 2 years ago 9
Are you kidding? Murray wasn't fit at all until about a year ago. Even now, he isn't as fit as Federer or Nadal.
Murray is as fit if not fitter.......your words above not mine.
I dont have a problem thanks.
CASPER10666 2 years ago
Ok please leave me alone. Ask any tennis expert and they'll say the reason Murray has risen so much since Wimbledon 2008 is because he improved his fitness a ton. He wasn't nearly as fit then as he is now. And as for the other comment you cited, that's my opinion. Good luck disproving an opinion. So please, don't waste my time with your infatuation with Murray or your hype of a player who hasn't won a single Grand Slam yet.

Breaking Murray twice on love, just how good is Federer?! If only he can keep his cool a little longer.
Stylaz21 2 years ago
You honestly think Fed can get better? I doubt it, parts will improve, but parts will get worse! Murray will though!
Carfer22 2 years ago
excellent highlight vid. will watch the other 3 now
joeysazo 2 years ago
lets put it this way, federer had a bad back and played fairly badly and still just about lost. murray played to his near best and only just came through! i still think federer can win a couple more slams....
MulletMan310893 2 years ago
federer played well in this match, even though his back was bothering him, he still played well, so did murray, your only trying to discredit murray.
reefric 2 years ago
he didnt play that well. his shots werent goin all that deep mainly cuz he didnt play well. he played ok but not great. i do enjoy watchin murray play however

HAHAHA Roger destroying Murray's ankles at 8:18

7:19 murray destroying federer's Ego
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
he earned that ego, and it is fair but what have you done?
sarju04 2 years ago
Im not talking about me, its a conversation of Murray vs Federer, Federer its a ego-maniac he cant stand loose, eve crys when he lose
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
I know you are not talking about yourself but you are calling some one an egomaniac who has very right to be so because he has earned it. And you have no right to say that because you are nobody. If it was nadal or murray. I can understand, but coming from is what angers me.
sarju04 2 years ago
I have the my right to gave my opinion, well i dont know in your country how it works, but here, people gave opinions, and critics, i have the right to put my point of view, if you dont like dont read that easy it is.and i dont what angers you, its just a game,a sport, if i wast talking about your family and someone you know, i will understand your anger. but its just a tennis player, who is a Egomaniac, cant stand loose
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
An opinion starts with the phrase "I think" and not imperative speech like you said in your comment. How do you even know his ego was destroyed.
sarju04 2 years ago 2
First the response was to "rogi44" cause he say something about murray's ankles, and the point is in my opinion Federer can stand loose, just see him when he lose, when he lost in australia, Crying, when he lost in Idian Wells, a handshake not so nice, when he lost in Australia 2008 he say he was sick (but stil reach to semifinal) and youre right his ego wasn't destroyed, theres alredy destroy since last year..
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
hahaha, when some one cries it doesnt know show how much ego he had, instead an ego maniac would never cry but try to blame his lost sometthing else. It is a match, he is going to be disappointed when he loses but saying his ego was destroyed is a completely different story. He didnt start like Nadal as a child prodigy , he actually took time to win his first title. Person like Roger cant have ego when he has seen that Ego leads you know where. Anger and ego was the game change that earned him.
sarju04 2 years ago
When some one cries his ego its destroyed, people like Roger who has been number one 3 or 4 years and then starts to loose, and with nadal,Murray etc, and then came to number 2 he was used to be number one, be on the top gave him EGO, no one cant beat him til murray and nadal came out and start to win him, thats the begining, he needs starts to see there many players can beat hime 2005 and 06 its past now theres players with more talent, and the media put him in that position, thats why he
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
he make an excuse when he lost he cant say yeah he's play better than me, at least i never hear saying that about Murray, or djokovic when they beat him, his Ego its to Big to say that
luisdjokovic 2 years ago
oh come on, you are such a novice.
He had hopes that he could win the 14th but he didnt. thats why he cried.
sarju04 2 years ago
sure man always make an excuse whe he lost in australia last year he say he was sick... sure he was sick but still reach to semifinals lol... im glad djokovic win in Rome, and still McCenroe give his help and he dont take it... his EGO his gona kill him..
luisdjokovic 2 years ago

A more Power like Novak/TSonga in forehand of Murray, and he is un-beatable in 2009+
bishtsudhir 3 years ago
i think his forehand is pritty solid now he knows wt he's doin and knows when to hit his forehand hard really smart player
tekinthepiss 3 years ago
Absolutely, the way he rolls his racket on forehand to change the direction. But power seems to be missing at times, though he has lot of variety. I may be wrong. And, no doubt, his cross court backend is 140+ zoooom !!!!
bishtsudhir 3 years ago
He does that on purpuse, to change the speed and movement of the game. Its not all about power for him, similar to Federer, some weaker players play off your strengh, so if you give them a soft ball back, they net it coz they were expecting power to hit off of.
Clever intelligent tennis, its not a weakness.
CASPER10666 3 years ago
Witht the work Murray has been doing in the last month, it will be interesting to see what happenes 2009. I cant wait.
CASPER10666 3 years ago
Im sure that this year murray will be in the top 5 in the world
st0v3r 3 years ago
Murray is ranked 4 in the world just now and has been for a few months now.
Im hoping he goes further than 4.
CASPER10666 3 years ago
he's already number 4 dude
laperdepaperhond312 3 years ago
Murray has the power if he needs it, he just doesnt need to use it on all shots. Its clever gamesmanship from Murray. He mixes it up, short/long/hard/soft not all players can do that. 2009 will be so interesting
CASPER10666 3 years ago
I believe the key to murray's success this year will not be in his groundstrokes- which are always superb-, but his serving, an aspect of his game which does occasionally cause him some trouble but doesn't always prove too costly because his return of serve is so good. Basically, i feel that when he serves well, he cannot lose.
ThomasS520EX 3 years ago
Couldn't agree more !!!! His return is all time best(even ever). The way he returns Roddick and that other tall lanky player(don't recall his name - who beat Federer in tie-breaks last year), nobody seems to doing that so effortlessly...
bishtsudhir 3 years ago
God i know, you watch some players just get blown off the court by the serves of people like roddick karlovic(?), then murray comes along and somehow manages to put would-be aces not just back into play, but into deep or tricky positions! Back that up with his terrific defencive and counter attacking skills and he's a pretty scary propisition for "one-shot wonder" kind of players like sam querrey and so on.
ThomasS520EX 3 years ago
I love watching Roger and Andy playing, the game is just so clever. Its not all power hitting, its all the arsnal they have. Its inspiring to watch. Andy will learn alot from Roger playing him more, they are both good tactitions and clever games men. I want wait for Roger to get his health back and for 2009 to start. Brilliant for tennis. Roger your a legend, Andy your doing so well just now. Good luck to you both
