  • He wasn't the best hitter ever in terms of talent, but he worked so hard to get where he got that he should be a shoo-in for the hall. I live in Atl and have been a Braves fan my whole life, and i get so pissed off watching Chipper Jones play with so much talent but no hard work at all. He sets a terrible example for younger players, that you can have more talent than most but half ass everything and be a first ballot HOF. Rose is who every ball player should strive to be on the field.

  • Pete Rose bet on his team to win, i fail to see the negative. THere were no steroids involved, no games thrown, etc. Put Pete in the Hall.

  • if pete rose would have done all the same things from the records, to collisions, to the gambling BUT had just done it all wearing a yankees uniform he would be in the HOF. if you think differently you're a stupid naive individual

  • So he gambled on baseball. He also broke records. He also gave his life to baseball. He also gave his all on every single play. Pete Rose for the Hall!

  • This whole Pete Rose thing is childish and ignoratn. Dude has 4200 hits and change, no one is ever gonna come close to getting that much ever. Cuz he gambled a little bit he is out of the HOF. How could you put any of the cheating ass steroid users before Rose, at least he didn't cheat in the game. And seriously id Lawrence Taylor get into the footbal HOF after years of drug abuse and now he is a registered sex offender, why in the hell is Pete Rose still not in the HOF. MLB, grow up

  • To me, this is a really tough issue. On the one hand, it appears that Rose never "fixed" any games or anything like that; he merely placed bets. I'm not saying I would ENCOURAGE that, per se, but is it really THAT big of a deal in the larger scheme of things? On the other hand though, it's hard for me to cry myself to sleep feeling sorry for this guy because he spent over a decade LYING about all of this. I'll say this though: if Rose doesn't get in, they had BETTER NOT let the dopers in.

  • Pete Rose was the best! MLB is a bunch of hypocrites! They didnt want Pete managing my Reds...we would have ruled baseball for decades! You cant have a small market team like mine winning all the time. LOL! Its all about the New York Skankees!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?

  • Enough is enough, Rose needs to be in the HOF! Greatest hitter ever!

  • It is time to bring Pete Rose to the Hall of Fame.

  • @MrBillyBats he only has three world series rings, six world series appearences, 1972 career victories (most for any player in any sport), most career singles, most career doubles, 3 batting titles, rookie of the year. Did you forget that he did all of this when facing some of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game?

  • hey rose, in your famous vernacular: GO FUCK YOURSELF LIAR

  • Time magazine had it right; "...Nobody plays it like Pete". Nobody has and nobody ever will. I just have one question: Did Pete's gambling ever tarnish the baseball record books like steroids has proven to? It's time to put Rose were he belongs, back in baseball and in the Hall.

  • does the hall of fame really even matter to a fan ? Who cares about that damed museum ?

  • One of the top ball players of all time...No question about it!!! I will never go to Cooperstown until Pete can finally hang his jersey there!

  • COOPERSTOWN WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE UNTIL THEY HANG THE CINCINATI 14 IN IT. GO CHARLIE HUSTLE

  • Greatest hitter ever to live. Anyone who disagrees simply doesn't know baseball

  • @TheSouthpaw44 based on what? Hit total? I mean really, wanna back that up with something?

  • he also won nl mvp and 2 gold gloves and Rookie of the year and made 17 all star appearances at 5 different positions 2b lf rf 3b and 1b, Yeah i know how all star game lineups can be, but still kind of a neat stat

  • @beniceokay hey im not saying the guy was a bad player, far from it and i agree its kinda neat he was an all star at 5 different positions as you certainly dont see that all the time. But with that said he's not the greatest hitter ever to live, not even top 10, im not saying he was a bad hitter either. Had things not happened the way they did he's a first ballot HOF'er no doubt and thats nothing to be ashamed about

  • I agree, it's similar with cal ripkin jr, great shortstop who played a long time, but statistically I would rather have Larkin who is not yet in the Hall, but on the doorstep.

  • Judge a player for his accomplishments between the white lines, not out. Pete Rose deserves to be in the Hall more then half the men in there. Let him in, he IS baseball

  • Why sre the Phillies a National League Dynasty, and not the Cubs. They had Pete Rose. In fact the MLB HOF store sells an autograph bat of Pete!!!!

  • Pete Rose was the reason for the Phillies winning THEIR FIRST WORLD SERIES in their 98th season.

  • I don't blame Pete for being angry....Steinbressner was reinsstated into baseball for a similar offense...but for a more glamorous purpose...3 World Series titles while Pete was embarrassed by Jim Grey.

  • @blacksx17

There was no such similar offense. George Steinbrenner was banned from baseball permanently from day-to-day management (but not ownership) of the Yankees by MLB Commissioner Fay Vincent for paying a gambler named Howie Spira $40,000 to dig up "dirt" on Winfield. Pete Rose was banned from baseball for gambling on and against the Cincinnati Reds while he acted as a player / manager.

Pete should have admitted guilt back in 1989. Had he done so back then, he'd already be in the HOF.

  • I wish I had pete rose's autogragh

  • Greatest player I ever watched in person, and I have seen a shitload. NOBODY played baseball the way this man did every day, every night, every second Pete Rose gave 120 % to the game he loved. IMO he is MR BASEBALL!

  • wait didnt pete rose gamble or cheat or somethin?

  • almost all good hitters are left handed

  • @mackfrogalot im guessing ur left handed because there are plenty of great right hand hitters, Joe Dimaggio, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, A-Rod,Albert Pujols and many more

  • @mackfrogalot

Pete Rose wasn't left handed. He was a switch hitter. He also threw right handed.

  • Actually baseballs cardnal rule is swing at anything close with 2 strikes by the way nice name fag

  • I'm not a country music fan, but I like the music and the video - great work. Your effort served a purpose.

  • The music sucks bigtime!

  • Pete Rose is a jerk, but based upon his stats and the fact he is the all time hit leader. He should be in the Hall. Steve Carlton was a jerk, so was randy Johnson. The Hall of Fame is not some country club/ character quality club. If so, then racists like Ty Cobb,Cap Anson and others would be excluded. denied it for years. But he did this after he was a player, and was a manager. What would have happened if Pete Rose retired in 1984? The world will never know.

  • Rose was a great baseball player but he is not bigger than the game. The rules include him and he chose to do it his way and now him and his fans must accept the lifetime ban from baseball and HOF ineligibility .

  • Drug enhancers, rapist, and murderers are allowed, but gambling is the big sin. You are just banging the drum with the rest of the self-important hypocrites. This man should be in the HOF more than anyone in baseball.

  • I agree, I think alot of people are just pissed he didn't admit it for so long. As I understand, Giamatti banned Pete with a special clause to apply for reinstatement once a year for as long as he is alive. This makes me think Giamatti had planned to reinstate him once he came clean, and put the clause in to do so. Vincent and Selig have screwed him over, if he instead had snorted cocaine in front of an elementry class or killed two people driving drunk he would've been in on first ballot.

  • @jcdixon97 I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Even more reason to support Mr. Rose.

  • @jcdixon97 Agreed jc

  • @acfinney i love how pete rose fans sing this tune over and over, too bad it doesnt hold a glass of water

  • Funny thing about pete, when he returned to player/manage the reds in 84, they were one of the worst teams in baseball, after pete took over the reds began to rise under his leadership, finishing 2nd from 86-88, in 89 they slipped due to injuries and the scandal, but pete had a winning record as manager and began the surge to the 1990 title. Maybe more managers should bet, it might help. Pete in the hall, no question!

  • It's nice that some people have the opinion that Rose should be reinstated and be in the Hall of Fame but that does'nt change the fact that he broke baseball's cardinal rule and earned himself a lifetime ban. The lifetime ban prevents him from getting back into baseball but the HOF ineligabilty is an all time ban forever.

  • And to anyone who says Pete shouldnt be put\t in the Hall because of his stats. Every hear of Bobby Doerr? Hes in the Hall Of Fame. He hit .288, 223 homeruns, and 1247 RBI. He's a second basemen. Pete Rose. Hit .303. 160 homeruns, and 1314 RBI. He was a second basemen, left, center, and right fielder, and 1st basemen. He is not in the Hall. Im a diehard Red SOx fan, but Pete is, i believe, more deserving then Bobby. i Love Bobby, but Pete's stats are just.. better

  • Th eMLB front office is messed up for not letting

Charlie Hustle in. THere are druggies, wife beaters, racists, and liars in the Hall. Yeah, Petey DID bet.. ON HIS TEAM TO WIN. he NEVER fixed a game. He may have broken the "Letter" of Rule # 21, but didnt break the SPIRIT of the law, which is to prevent corruption. WHOEVER says Peter Edward Rose does not belong in the Hall Of Fame. Should get their facts straight and reconsider. Yes, thin includes you Mr. Bud Selig

  • Even more stupidity.

"He didn't break the SPIRIT of the law"????

    What a colossal asshole.

  • no, he didnt. Rule 21 is there to prevent corruption. was he corrupt? NO. did he purposly lose? NO. did he ALWAYS try his absolute hardest. YES!!!

    Reinstate Pete.

    Period.

  • You people say that he bet on baseball so he shouldnt be in the hall? I could understand if he bet against the Reds but the bet in question he bet on the Reds TO WIN. Fuck you haters

  • D'uh... gee. I guess the sign that SHOULD be in EVERY MAJOR LEAGUE Clubhouse for 150 SHOULD have read:

"BETTING ON YOUR OWN TEAM TO LOSE IS PROBIBITED AND WILL BE PUNISHED BY BANISHMENT."

    What assholes.

He bet, he knew the consequences.

    Banned. Period.

  • @937irish There is to be no betting by any major league baseball player, whether you bet on your team to win or lose. Read the players' handbook of rules and then maybe you will learn something and get a clue, will you?

    Idiot.

  • @rayjr62 i TOTALLY agree with your sentiment! after all, former cleveland indians pitcher bob feller was right when he stated in regards to hof admission: "citizenship should STILL count for something"! pete rose was NO DOUBT the GREATEST hitter to EVER play the game, BUT - he broke baseball's cardinal rule which is thou shalt not bet on thine own team.

  • His passion for the game is still unequaled and may never be again...He was quoted as saying "I'd walk through Hell in a gasoline suit just to play baseball." Yes, the man broke the cardinal rule of baseball...he's admitted to it, and has been exiled for 20 years. If Rose is not in the Hall, then there should not even be a Hall.

  • Your 100% right, Charly Hustle should also have been called MR. BASEBALL cause he represented the game better then anyone til he screwed up off the field, but should be condemned for life for it! Alot of sport heros have gotten away with a lot of "off the field" shit ie rape, tax invasion, etc.. goes on for weeks! Well said Dblack1983. We miss u Pete

  • Bullshit.

Who is to say he was more "passionate" than other players? You THINK he was more passionate because he hustled? Other players didn't hustle? Come on. He was psychotic so it appeared more passionate. Please.

    This is stupid.

HE bet on baseball, as a player and a manager.

    Banned.

    Period.

  • @LazlosPlane He still put up his numbers legitimately. That's more than people like McGwire, Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, ARod, Manny etc, etc... Pretty soon those cheaters will start getting inducted while a guy remains banned for something that was unrelated to his performance. Ty Cobb was a friendless racist asshole. The amazing numbers he earned without drugs are all that count when the hall is concerned. It should be the same for Pete and perhaps Joe Jackson as well.

  • No that is Way off Pete Charges $40 for an autograph. I have met him 4 X, his jersey package is $400 it comes with a photo, a ball, pix w pete. Maybe the secutiy guard is the Jerk. I can say this though, atleast he makes himself available, even if he charges. I live in L.A. and very few have autographs or have met S. Garvey or M. Piazza. I collect Rose stuff for me, 'cause he was my hero not as an ivestment. Serioulsy though who's your hero and have you ever met him or her? Pete is Bad Ass!

  • ur right petes the shit! And all this is a shame! He is the greatest all around ball player we have ever seen! PERIOD.

  • As a lifelong Philly Phan and resident I have always loved Pete Rose and have recently been buying Rose Cards off EbaY in hopes that they will increase in value and be passed on to my son. As for the last comment posted, I agree $400 is way too much, I see them selling with COA's for as little as $20 on Ebay.

And have made a personal choice to NOT watch the Eagles play because Mike Vick is SCUM (horrible role model for kids)

  • I saw Pete Rose at a memorabilia shop at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas. I was soo excited that i would have the chance to get his autograph.

I went up to his desk and asked if I could have his autograph, the bodyguards said that it was $400 for one, I was speechless and there was Pete just sitting there drinking his iced tea not saying anything... What a Jerkoff!!! (Just wants the money)

  • Everyone has to make a living some how.

  • Wow really? I saw him in May 07 at the same shop at Caesars Palace. I bought a baseball for $25 and Pete signed it to my 9 year old son. Pete and I had a very nice 5 minute conversation and I had 2 pics taken together. I told Pete that I am a Mets fan and that we hated his guts because he always beat the living shit out of us. Pete got a good laugh at that. I wished him the best of luck.

The guy was in fact the best player at least in my generation. He deserves a 2nd chance at hall of fame.

  • Rose, a switch hitter, is the all-time Major League leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053)[1], and outs (10,328). He won three World Series rings, three batting titles, one Most Valuable Player Award, two Gold Gloves, the Rookie of the Year Award, and made 17 All-Star appearances at an unequaled five different positions (2B, LF, RF, 3B & 1B).

    Enough Said

  • Well said. If he's not in the Hall, then why have a Hall?

"Should Pete be in the Hall of Fame? Pete Rose should have his own wing in the Hall Of Fame."- Mike Schmidt

  • Oh, gee, well, if Mike Schmidt thinks so then it MUST be true.

    Fuck him.

  • To all the critics of Pete Rose: What is the matter with you? He has suffered for 40 years . Nobody knows better than him that he made a mistake. He needs to be in the hall of fame for his positive accomplishments ( even if you insist on an asterisk ). P.S : using profanity in your posts does not give you much credibility as a valid critic.

  • Pete Rose will never make the baseball hall of fame, but he will one day wake up and cry over missing out on immortality.

  • he loved going in head first.

  • LET HIM IN! HE BET ON HIS TEAM TO WIN!

  • Let him in as a player, everyone has forgiven the drunks, wife beaters, coke heads, steroid junkies and racists that are in the hall. They allowed them in as players, do the same for Rose, his record has not been broken unlike other "greats" that are in the hall, get over it< he was a great player.

  • My letter to the commissioner:

    Dear Commissioner:

Thank you for not re-instating Pete Rose to baseball. Though not under your specific aegis, it's best his name not sully the Hall of Fame either.

The man-child knew what he was doing and how it was punishable. As an example to others, his banishment should remain in perpetuity.

    Sincerely. . .

    etc, etc.

FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE TO YOUR OWN LETTERHEAD.

  • anyone can give 2nd chances.. pete rose deserves to be in the hall of fame

    period

  • That's two different issues. Personally, I don't think he belongs in the Hall on the merit of his career. 303 hitter with no power. Period.

And, most people DO NOT GET SECOND CHANCES.

    Period.

  • what do you got against him?? well 303 hitter, but 4256 hits does belong to it.. but hes not a hall of fame as a manager but hes a hall of fame as a player..

he will be a hall of famer, just watch

  • What have I got against him?

I've always thought he was over rated. Had maybe six really good years, not Hall of Fame years, but really good. The rest was 18 years of lots of singles and doubles.

Great hustle, yes, but Hall of Fame? Please.

Then, he broke the ONE CARDINAL RULE EXPLICITLY STATED BY BASEBALL: NO GAMBLING.

    Why the fuck have rules?

Then, he lied about it repeatedly hoping we would believe and he'd "get away" with it.

That's what I've got against him.

  • i got his trading card..

    next .. the jersey :)

    PETE ROSE RULES!!

  • dude. what the fuck. he dosent belong in the hall? babe ruth just hit em and trotted around like a lug. Pete ran, hustled, and did everything to the fullest. hes got more hits then ruth, a-roid, ty cobb, mantle, yaz, all the hall of famers. hes got more hits. baseball NEEDS Charlie Hustle

  • Dude, guess what?

No. He doesn't belong in the "Hall." Any sentence with Pete Rose should not have Babe Ruth in it. And if you knew anything about baseball you'd know that Rose doesn't belong on the same page as ANY of those players you named.

Charlie Hustle, my ass. He HAD to hustle because he had little talent, pal--.303 lifetime hitter with no power for a FUCKING SECOND BASEMAN? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

    Grow up.

    BANNED FOR LIFE

    PERIOD.

  • Pete rose was an average Joe guy but i can garuntee he worked harder than any other baseball player to date. Its easy for u to sit on ur ass and critisize people. Why don't u just go get a fucking life

  • You can guarantee that, eh? You know how much EVERY other ballplayer worked. Wow. Amazing, and now you share that knowledge with us! How lucky are we?

Such piercing logic. Such brilliant intellection. Were you trained in rhetoric at Harvard?

More likely you are a product of in-breeding as your use of language and logic betrays. Stick to bowling and beer, pal.

    Pete Rose is a joke.

    Grow up.

    And,

    Fuck you.

  • Man, Pete Rose is the best ballplayer of all fucking time.

  • Lets assume for a moment that you are right regarding his talent. For what he accomplished for having no talent makes him all the more deserving of the Hall based on those same accomplishments. It is even more remarkable thinking of the numbers he put up and having no talent. Wow, Thanks for making such a great point that he belongs in the hall.

  • Have ya ever heard of a lead off hitter? You know they get singles, doubles, things like that, basicly they would get on base, like he did. Did he break the rule and lie for 14 years about it? Yes he did. Judge him for his playing career, not afterwards. You see .303 average. I see 3 time batting champ, NL MVP, WS MVP, and 3 time WS champion. Someone who could play all positions except catcher, and someone who played his ass off for 23 years.

  • What you say here about Rose is spot on and I couldn't agree more. Great ballplayer.

None of it is good enough for the Hall of Fame.

    Not close.

Sorry. PLUS, he violated baseball's most sacred taboo's, then lied about it.

So taking all of that into consideration, no way.

    NO HALL FOR PETE.

  • Also if you want to go strictly on rules, you might as well pull Mantle and Mays out as they were banned too for a time. You might as well say Ichiro isn't Hall worthy. He's cut from the same mold Rose is...just get on base. You can pretty much take everything you've said and shove 'em up your ass.

    PERIOD

  • No, if you go strictly by the rules Mays and Mantle would NOT be banned, and they were NOT given LIFETIME BANS WHERE THEY ADMITTED TO GAMBLING, you fucking asswipe moron, or is this too complicated a concept for your little in-bred mind to understand?

Fucktard, ROSE AGREED TOA LIFETIME BAN.

    BANNED.

    PERIOD.

Mays and Mantle: HALL OF FUCKING FAME.

    PERIOD. EXCLAMATION POINT.

  • Comment removed

  • Harvard Debating Team?

    What a douche.

    Like Rose.

    Fuck off, loser.

  • Rose greatest player in the history of baseball. He played the fucking game like people. Yes gambling is bad but it didnt taint his results. Barry Bonds Alex Rodriguez are most likely going to no be banned from baseball and they took PEDs. Its unfair for people who have worked hard without drugs. I.g. Pete Rose. It's a disgrace to America's National past time. Also learn how to write. Nobody will understand the way a 5 year old writes. This will just go back and forth of us both saying shit.

  • If you think Pete Rose is the greatest player in the history of baseball then you know nothing about baseball and are just a Pete Rose fan.

What do Alex Rodriguez or Barry Bonds have to do with Rose breaking the ONE RULE that was posted in every clubhouse for 150 years? The penalty for which was well known to Rose?

    Nothing. That's what.

Your pathetic attempt to attack others as a way of making Rose look better is pathetic.

    He BET ON BASEBALL.

    BANNED FOR LIFE.

  • So lets just stop it at that.

  • Let Pete in the HOF

  • pete rose was the greatest hitter to ever play the game.

betting on a game is no better then taking HGH

but still the guy had over 4,000 hits...

  • Career 303 hitter. Please.

    BANNED.

    KEEP HIM BANNED.

Fuck him. He knew what the punishment was for gambling. Man-up and take it.

Who says he can't get a job coaching college or high school. Fuck him.

    He's lucky to get THAT.

    BET ON BASEBALL? BANNED.

And he wasn't THAT good anyway.

  • Love the video and love Charlie Hustle--thanks for putting it together. No one played the game with all their heart like Pete Rose and no one loved the game more. Give him credit for his accomplishment-for a job well done. He deserves it.

  • lol lots of people make bets in baseball

  • betting on the game wasnt as bad as the early whitesox bet with shoeless joe, who had no part in it, Pete bet on his team to win, not lose, if he did its a different story, Pete was one of the greatest ball players to ever live,

  • ppl.... play all the songs... then get over it... pete is best ever. fuck the rest. pete rose, best ever.... fuckl off

  • Thank you, finally someone that gets it

  • Well Pete Rose will never enter the Hall of Fame while he's still alive. That's a fact. Not only did he gamble on baseball, but he lied about it after 15 years and got greedy wrote a book to earn some money and then admitted to gambling on baseball. Though, I don't think he should be judged for what he did as a Manager, but for as a player. Pete has 3 major league records, and one that most likely won't be touched or broken. It is what it is, too bad Charlie Hustle, you got greedy dude!

  • Pete should be reinstated immediately. Michael Vick gets reinstated to football after killing dogs. But I guess gambling is worse. Where is the sense?

  • he should be put in the baseball hall of fame asap not as a manager and who really gives a fuck he bet on baseball almost everybody who watches it will bet on it either once or more times in their lives

  • who cares he bet on his team. as long as he never bet against his team. micheal jordan gambled more than rose but hes considered a god. he should be in the hall of fame. if he was black he would be in it.

  • steroids is so much worse than gambling, i can almost guarantee they will put barry bonds into the hof. i do not condone gambling but it is really not that bad of a thing to do

  • To you, steroids is worse. But if you're at a game and rooting for your team and you found out that your team lost and the manager bet on the other team, how would you feel?

Steroids is bad, but betting is at the core of baseball's integrity. ROSE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING AND IT'S CONSEQUENCES.

    BANNED.

    PERIOD.

  • get your goddamn facts straight before you hate on Rose. he bet, yes, ON HIS TEAM TO WIN, everytime.

  • Get the facts straight, asswipe:

YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE AS TO WHO HE BET ON.

    and,

    BETTING IS PROHIBITED.

    PERIOD.

    BANNED FOR LIFE.

  • get a life fag

  • Pete Rose sucked Joe Morgan daily.

  • Blow it out your ass Eric! Clueless!

  • Who? Me?

  • ur face is scum

  • HOF Pete Rose...hands down, period!

  • my grandma was in vegas and met him and got me an autographed baseball!!

    :)

  • dude i was there to i got an autograph also

  • SHIT MUSIC

  • when pete rose dies, he will be accepted into the hall of fame. he will never know it. its ironic.

  • bud selig address...copy and paste this if u are going to write to selig saying that pete rose should be in the hall of fame

    bud selig address...

    777 E Wisconsin Ave

    Suite 3060

    Milwaukee, WI 53202

  • My problem with pete not being in, is as stated many times not just on here but countless other forums, he was an amazing player. But also why did they change the rules!? Let the vote take place, let the Hall of Fame (which is a privately owned organization) vote on whether or not pete gets in, don't change the rules. If they do not vote him in then he lays in the bed he made, but let the vote happen! Its a shame Pete you got my vote, fanship, and loyalty for life.

  • When I first sleep with a girl I like to go in head first... like Pete Rose

  • Alot of what made Pete great did not show up in the stats. He would get in your head and make you believe he could not be beaten

  • Pete Rose inspires me more than any one else that ever played the game- And I'm met fan - ha ha - That's something that they can't take away from him

  • Atleast Pete never cheated the game.

All these Carribeans players coming over here: lying about their age, taking steroids and boinking our woman.

    Fuck the MLB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL never cheated the game? What the fuck do you call gambling?

  • Yo, douchebag. How did he cheat the game?

Proven through the Dowd report that he betted on the Reds (to win) NOT against them. Gambling is legal fuck nut!

  • Not in baseball it's not.

    Jackass.

  • Its always some faggot like Bob Costas that never played shit trying to keep Pete outta the HOF.....It pisses me off those dip shits have say-so in the HOF.....The decision should be made by his peers ( pro players ). Not a pencil necked geek, I would like to see Pete kick Bobs teeth out !

  • Many of his peers don't want him in either.

  • Especially the gay ones !

  • All Rose had to admit to Giamatti was that he bet on baseball. He didn't. He knew the consequences. Pete's tough enough to live with what he wrought.

  • its kinda funny that Mark Mcguire is still getting on the hall of fame ballad even though what he did was illegal and enhanced his performance on the field. everything that Pete on the field was amazing he had 4256 career hits without the juice, if thats not hall of fame worthy i don't know what is.

  • That's right, you don't know what is hall of fame worthy.

  • Steroids, especially the ones that Mac was using were not illegal at the time he was using (some still aren't illegal).

Gambling in baseball has been outlawed for almost a century. I could care less how great Pete was. He knew the rules, they are written in every clubhouse. He gambled. That's a fact.

And your point makes even less sense, considering Mac is getting less than 24% of the needed votes.

Rose was one of the greats, but he has to face consequences.

    Just like Jackson.

  • your rite he shouldnt be in the hall but i admire his playing he kicked ass

  • I love Pete Rose. I graduated from Western Hills High School. Growing up he was my hero. It's tragic drama of Greek proportions: Lies, plots, backstabbers, justice, death. A life left signing endless balls. So sad. So real. So Pete. Sorry, Pete. You did the ONE thing. It don't matter. You KNEW about IT. You did it. You lied about it then confessed it. Sorry Pete. No HOF for you. Only tears from your 'nati homies.
  • nice vid, pete should be in the HOF

  • There are people who have done far worst then what Pete Rose did. Take for example Ferguson Jenkins who picther for the Cubs. Jenkins had sex with a 16 year old girl when he was playing for the Cubs and he is in the HOF.

What is worst having sex with a minor

    or gambeling?

  • Ferguson Jenkins had sex with a 16 year-old girl? I've never heard that. Do you have a source for this? I tried googling "Ferguson Jenkins statutory rape" and "Ferguson Jenkins underage sex" but I couldn't find anything.

  • Bonds, McGwire, Canseco, Clemens, and now A-Rod, and the rest, all took drugs knowingly to cheat; taking cocaine like the Pirates, my beloved Mets, and many other teams during the 80's is bad enough, but not cheating like taking steroids designed to enhance performance- no juicers should be allowed in the Hall.

Shoeless Joe helped throw not just games, but a SERIES- out.

Rose bet, but didn't change the outcome of games as a result (that we know.) If a racist like Cobb gets in Rose should.

  • If more players played like Pete Rose, MLB would be soooo much better!

  • I agree with all of you who state that Pete Rose should be in the HOF!! It's amazing to me how there have been several Hall of Famer's who have used drugs, yet they're in the HOF. I personally don't care if Rose bet on baseball as a manager. Look at what he did as a player. I have never seen anyone give so much to the game. He made it fun for us to watch and was the best all around, complete player!!!

  • Any man who would run flat out to first base on a fucking walk deserves to be in the Hall. Baseball is very screwed up by not putting Charlie Hustle in.

  • YA!!! Pete Rose is the most deserving of a hall of fame plaque.. he played harder then anyone else that ever played the game! ENSHRINE PETE ROSE!!!!

  • If Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco, two of Baseball's most high-profile drug cheats not named Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens, can get their names on Hall of Fame ballots, then why can't Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe Jackson? This is an outrage! Either exclude the drug cheats from the ballot, or put Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose in! This double standard is a disgrace to Baseball!

  • PUT PETE IN THE HOF!

  • Pete Rose BELONGS IN THE HOF.... IT'S INSANE TO KEEP HIM OUT.

BUD SELIG IS A PUSSY AND THE WORST THING TO EVER HAVE HAPPENED TO MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL.

Jason Giambi, the biggest pussy in MBL gets a free pass from Selig, but Rose isn't in the HOF? Insanity. Utter and complete insanity.

  • PETE ROSE SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME!! he didn't gambill when he was a player just when he was a manager! That is soo rediculos y he's not in the hall of fame! he deseves it! he has a lot of heart 4 the game! No reason y he's not in the halll of fame!! (soo rediculos)!

  • Pete Rose and his record belongs to US as well as him and I'm tired of making believe he didn't exsist. The whole world has to get off its HIGH HORSE and put things in perspective!

  • Not putting Pete in the Hall of Fame is lying to our selves! This whole gambling thing is blown way out of proportion.Banning him for life is like shooting someone for J walking - soooo rediculous I'm soooo over it already- We're not electing a Pope! Fine him, make him do community service, manage a team one year for free but BANNED FOR LIFE?? Ty Cobb Stabbed someone! Look it up! It's true!!!!I'll take Pete's character over many other guys in Cooperstown!!!

  • In essense what we are saying is IF we let Bonds and Clemens into the HOF is that taking performance enhancing drugs to become a better player is not as bad as betting on your team to win as a manager. I am saying which is worse, but that is what we WOULD be saying.

  • festooner saying "the Pete Rose issue has NOTHING to do with steroids" is silly. The fact that baseball now has to deal with steriods made it an issue. The fact that we now have to decide about how much steriods should play in HOF selection retroactively brings Pete Rose in the discussion. Pete broke a rule and was banned but the historical context changes as we progress through time. Let bonds in and we ARE making a statement about drugs vs gambling. late breaking doesn't make it less important

  • ROSE DESERVES TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME

he has proff he never bet agaisnt the reds never so to me he dint do anythign wrong if bonds gets in and he doesnt baseball truley has become dead

  • A cool montage of pictures. I think Bob Seeger had a tune that was "written" with Pete in mind - they even ran it in the background of a video - "Still The Same" - '......There you stood / Everybody watched you play / I just turned and walked away / I had nothin' left to say / Cus you're still the same...........'

  • Pete Rose belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He played the game the way it should be played. All out!

  • Let Pete in!!! damn it!!!

  • i guess you all feel the same way i do....PUT PETE IN THE HOF....BARBIE833

  • put him in the hall

  • 1975 World Series MVP

  • I just want you to know that Ty Cobb bet on baseball too. Cobb only remained in the game because excercised "GOOD" politics with Judge Landis. Otherwise Cobb wouldn't be in the Hall.

  • The worst thing to happen was Bart Giamatti dying because Rose was essentially blamed for it and hated more (at least by Vincent and others who have the commissioner's ear.) If anyone thinks Giamatti didn't have it in for Rose, remember he suspended him for 30 days for pushing an umpire while he was the NL president. Guys who have slugged, spit on, and body-slammed umps have never got more than a week. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan who probably hated Pete Rose, especially after the 1975 series.

  • That son of a bitch Giamatti got what he deserved. May he rot in hell. He deserves no better for condeming Pete to be forever banned from playing, managing and being in the Hall Of Fame itself. Fuck Giamatti. What a piece of shit.

  • Britney Spears does everything in her power to destroy her life and people keep feeling sorry for her and hope she can straighten out. Mike Tyson, Darryl Strawberry, Robert Downey, and too many others to mention just have to read a lame, scripted apology and get more chances. Pete Rose might be the only person in the last 100 years to be refused a second chance. He got the same punishment as the guys who threw the world series - but his crime was significantly less serious.

  • Amen to that, he never voted against his Red's only for, betting on games (and not against his own team) is NOT that big of a deal. He leads the MLB all time record in hits and consecutive 20+ hitting streaks, yet some reason the crazy racist Ty Cobb gets that honor, instead of a guy who just betted on games.

Like you said, he didn't do anywhere close to what the blacksox did, he would never intentionally give anything less then 100%, ever

  • Pete is the best baseball player of all time.

The 76 Big Red Machine was the best team of all time.

  • That is just a stupid statement. And if you sincerely believe it then you are a stupid stupid person. There is no politically correct way to say it. Stupid.

  • Pete really was the greatest baseball player of all time. Just because he wasn't one of these niggers from today who cheat by being pumped up on steroids dosen't mean he wasn't. Pete is from a time when TRUE TALENT was on the field without drugs!. I think the steroid abuse of today is a much bigger violation than simply betting on a game. Besides, Pete as a manager could not make his team throw a game unless the whole team was in on it. Does that mean you should deny greatness to everyone he man

  • Pete Rose wasn't the greatest player of all time, he's not even in the conversation of who is the greatest. Pete was a good, sometimes great player who played hard and stayed around long enough to break a major record. Joe Morgan, Pete's teamate on the Reds, is a better player. To be honest Morgan was a FAR greater player than Rose. Johnny Bench was a better overall player as well. But really I am tired of making the same argument to overzealous morons. And now also to cowardly racists.

  • I've met Johnny Bench in person. He always was and still is a giant asshole. Most anyone else who has met him will tell you the same thing. As for Joe Morgan, there was absolutely nothing bad anyone can say about the guy, Yes, he really was a great player but Pete took it to another level.

  • What level are you talking about? Pete Rose will tell you he was never as good as Morgan. Johnny Bench was great no matter how much of an asshole you say he is. And anyway, is being an asshole any worse than being a liar or a degenerate gambler?
