@1991stratplus He/they use both tunings for many guitar parts. i also capo up in the 5th for some of their stuff...very cool style, indeed. open G is a wonderful tuning
Ok, you wanna know the truth? Rock is dead. Alright? It really is. Should it be? No. But it is. Quit complaining about rock being turned into trash, and actually do something about it. I know I am. I'm 16 and my band is going to progress. We're gonna find the next cool thing, and it ain't gonna be no playing with toys electronica. We're gonna be playing with fire.
SIR RONNIE WOOD IS THE WORLDS # 1 GUITARIST IN THE WORLD BECAUSE HE CAN PLAY WITH SO MANY DIFFERENT STYLES OF PLAYING AND HE IS A FRIENDLY MAN. HE HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND HE LOOKS A LOT YOUNGER TEN HE IS.....WOULD LOVE TO JAM WITH YOU....I AM JUST A BASEMENT PLAYER. Trevor Welch.
I posted a question just now, but have since found the answer. When Ronnie "joined" the Rolling Stones in 1975, he was not in fact a Rolling Stone. He was an EMPLOYEE, and for fifteen long years remained an employee, with Jagger cutting him a monthly salary cheque, until they made him a 'partner' of the organization in 1990. A rather prolonged probationary period, ain't it?
You say Hannah Montana, I say The Rolling Stones
You say Owl City, I say Led Zeppelin
You say Jonas Brothers, I say The Beatles
You say Justin Bieber, I say Queen
You say Taylor Swift, I say The Doors
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy & paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock die
My God, if an artist has 2 half ok albums these days they are seen as the second coming!!! Try punching out 25 albums, and 40 yrs of being in the business THEN get back to me ;-)
i like how his spares are 60years old. haha like a room full of ancient guitars. i wonder what angus has stocked away. i wonder if angus ever plays acoustic. anyone know?
Thing is, his 54 strats are pieces of SHIT compared to his two Tony Zemaidis guitars.
Tony Zemaidis in the 1970s, was just about the finest guitar maker of all time.
He personally hand made about 50 guitars for musicians of the era. And sold them to the likes of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck and Ronny Wood.
The silver and black guitar he points to, is a 1973 Tony Zemaidis original. Hand made by the guy.
Ronny would never sell it (it's been his main axe since the Faces days), but you're looking at a million dollar guitar there. And not just because Ronny owns it. It would be worth that much anyway. As they're very rare.
Brian Jones was an all rounder, but at the end he wasn't touching the guitar and trying to play everything else instead. Mick Taylor never realised how brilliant he was. Ronnie is amazing.
Mick was an interesting, soulful guitarist, but he wasn't very tight. Made a lot of mistakes, and was very messy. Stone's live performances were terrible in his era.
Ronny Wood is the opposite. About as tight as you get musically.
@PacquiaoEPO I never said that Mick was better than Ronnie. I think that the fact he was Brian Jones' replacement outshone how good a guitarist he was- which he was. I don't think you can really compare them because they were completely different types of players. MT always resented the fact he had to play other people's music instead of having his own creative input. I wouldn't call him messy, I would just say he didn't fit the bill with the Stones.
Dream on. The Zematais he is pointing at is a 1973 model, hand made by Tony Zemaidis, during his greatest guitar building period. He only made around 50 guitars in the 1970s, and they were all bought by the likes of Clapton, Page, Wood, Richards, Beck.
The Zematias guitars from that era, are $250'000 minimum. If Ronny put that up for auction, it would probably go for a million dollars, even without his name being linked to it. It's one of the finest guitars ever built
@PacquiaoEPO The Zemaitis "Disc Front" is actually a 1971 model. I belive Ronnie was the 4th person to get his hands on an electric Zemaitis. You're right about the price though. A copy (built by TZ in 1981) of Keith Richards 1975 "Macabre" Zemaitis (lost in a fire in the 70's) recently sold for $US175'000.
Hey Spider- I'm a Ronnie guy, but I also love Mick T.- He was still playin' w/Mayall at one of the 1st shows (if not THE) I ever went to see at the Stanley Theatre in J.C., NJ. w/Procol. ANYWAY, if you dig Ry, you should check out (or already HAVE) the most overlooked 'Stones' LP of all times- the soundtrack to 'Performance'. the movie Mick was in. The whole thing is Ry at his smokin' best. Check out- 'Memo from Turner'- an all-time fave. -Al
I like Ronnie but i have been listening to Mick Taylor's work with the band as of late. I also think Ry Cooder did some great playing with the Stones back in the day, check it out!spiderjohn.
Sorry, mates, but Ron Wood never did it for me. I guess I can't get over the wonder and awe I had for Brian Jones. I don't dislike Ronnie, it's just.......I dunno!
The first Zemaitis he refers to, is worth $300’000 minimum. It’s the second Tony Zemaitis guitar he ever built. There’s probably only 5-6 in existence from that period. And they’re all owned by the people he built them for. As in, Clapton, Keith Richards, and people like that
i think he has a fair point, sure its crazy having over £150,000 worth of stratocasters in your rig, but then again, they're not there to be looked at, they have to be played!
what a scrotum faced old arsehole this geezer is a twat and a nasty one at that he is a fucking prick he is all nice on camera and a complete wanker off it,i hate this prick
Fuck I was wondering who this guy was but then he said "Stay with me guitar"! One of my favorite guitar riffs in that song. Now I have a name to match that sound.
@Grungadin Wondering who he was? Where have you been. He and Rod Stewart were with the Jeff Beck band before joining the faces and then he was a natural choice to join the Stones.
"and this, this is a very special amp, because as you can see all the dials go upto 11, look 11 11 11 11 " "and most amps go upto ten" "exactly, one louder" "why dont you just have them as 10 and make that louder" "........... these go upto 11"
@narnode I think you are meaning where he said "To name but a few" in other words he was mentioning some of the names of people who also had guitars made for them by that maker but only said some peoples names so was implying that there were more guitars made for other people as well.
Why would he bring vintage guitars on tour? He should just get the Fender Custom Shop and the Gibson Custom Shop make him exact replicas. Those two Strats. alone are over $100k.
@tothatextent Cause he only plays them on tour (they're stored in New York City when he's not on tour) and why wouldn't he? They are tools, not museum pieces. Besides, they will increase in value because he used them. That Front Disc Zemaitis (custom made for him in '71) is at least $175k.
Oh yeah. He's an average guy alright. But if girls as young as 20 are willing to fuck a corpse then thats their problem. The issue I have is that his guitar playin is donkey cock in the first place.Cunt
if the truth comes out & he has been knocking that young women around, will he still be a babe then mcdermott210. he"s a average guitar player anyway, the Stones tried to get Ry Cooder 3 times to join, lol why would Ry join them. also tried to get Rory Gallagher another amazing guitar talent, too good for Stones again. respect to Keith Richards though top riff man.
yea he still will be a babe then to me im only the same age as that dumb bitch that he was with and think he is the best thing ever u no. his funny, good looking, good guitar player, and a sweet man.
we disagree with you. and anyone from Detroit will tear your head off, hand it to you, and then you can you can this silly rubbish out of your ruddy noggin.
In '75 I sat in the Kingsgate Hotel in Kings Cross with Ronnie and played his Tony Zemaitis black and silver beastie when he toured with The Faces; two months later I sat in the same room playing the same guitar because he'd returned to tour with The Stones!
On the last tour I know Keith was using Tweed Fender Twins and Ronnie was using Fender Vibro Kings. However, next to Ronnie's 2 Vibro Kings, on the backline, was a smaller fender white tolex covered amp with 2 speakers? Can anyone help me identify that other Fender amp that Woody was using?
A kramer DMZ2000 I bought in Paris, Pigalle, 1980 after he did a performance with the barbarians in 1979. he is photographed with Keith, wearing that guitar. (see his website)
@stonecrazy Yeah basically it's connected to the strap button. Pull on the strap and it bends the B string to make the guitar sond somewhat like a pedal steel. It was in fact modeled after a pedal steel.
Ronnie woods uses one. Jeff Martin a more modern guitarist also uses a B-Bender.
They're usually on telecasters or tele- style guitars. The back of the guitar is routed out for a mechanism that works when you pull down on the strap, the b- sting is raised either a whole of half a tone. I've been able to play only one on a Custom Shop Tele and it's pretty fun! Stonecrazy's right, it's used primarily by country guys, but Jimmy Page used one on In Through The Out Door by Zeppelin. You can hear it on "All My Love" and "Hot Dog"
You're absolutely right, he did. I have a video somewhere of him playing that at the first night in Knebworth in '79. That's what I played when I tried that Tele out. lol

55 strats like that go for $250'000 on todays markets.
His Tony Zemaidis 1970s electric, is possibly worth double that.
And that's not just the celebratory value. Those guitars are just worth those figures, no matter the history behind them

The “Stay with me” guitar he refers to is an original Zemaitis, which Tony Zemaitis built for him personally in 1970.

That guitar is worth $300’000 minimum

mcdermott210 2 years ago
if the truth comes out & he has been knocking that young women around, will he still be a babe then mcdermott210. he"s a average guitar player anyway, the Stones tried to get Ry Cooder 3 times to join, lol why would Ry join them. also tried to get Rory Gallagher another amazing guitar talent, too good for Stones again. respect to Keith Richards though top riff man.
dan32113 2 years ago
yea he still will be a babe then to me im only the same age as that dumb bitch that he was with and think he is the best thing ever u no. his funny, good looking, good guitar player, and a sweet man.

In '75 I sat in the Kingsgate Hotel in Kings Cross with Ronnie and played his Tony Zemaitis black and silver beastie when he toured with The Faces; two months later I sat in the same room playing the same guitar because he'd returned to tour with The Stones!

nice collection, loved the little blues riff there too

On the last tour I know Keith was using Tweed Fender Twins and Ronnie was using Fender Vibro Kings. However, next to Ronnie's 2 Vibro Kings, on the backline, was a smaller fender white tolex covered amp with 2 speakers? Can anyone help me identify that other Fender amp that Woody was using?

there is a guitar he doesn't have anymore.
A kramer DMZ2000 I bought in Paris, Pigalle, 1980 after he did a performance with the barbarians in 1979. he is photographed with Keith, wearing that guitar. (see his website)
it is mine now for 30 years.

Can someone please explain a b-bender to me?
thnx..
MrCsharpMajor 2 years ago
A b-bender is a guitar accessory.. you can see it on the body of the guitar near the bridge.
With this thing, the guitarist can change (quickly) the b-string up a whole tone to a c-sharp.. I think that b-bender is mainly use for country music.
But try to check that on google or something like that because I can't explain more (my english is so bad)..
stonecrazy 2 years ago
@stonecrazy Hey, for bad english, you did pretty well!
stableshadow 1 year ago
@stonecrazy You did fine brother. Your English is better than that of many Americans. Wish I had all of those guitars; or even a few of them.
swiggy58a 1 year ago
@stonecrazy Yeah basically it's connected to the strap button. Pull on the strap and it bends the B string to make the guitar sond somewhat like a pedal steel. It was in fact modeled after a pedal steel.
Ronnie woods uses one. Jeff Martin a more modern guitarist also uses a B-Bender.
gondo01 1 year ago
They're usually on telecasters or tele- style guitars. The back of the guitar is routed out for a mechanism that works when you pull down on the strap, the b- sting is raised either a whole of half a tone. I've been able to play only one on a Custom Shop Tele and it's pretty fun! Stonecrazy's right, it's used primarily by country guys, but Jimmy Page used one on In Through The Out Door by Zeppelin. You can hear it on "All My Love" and "Hot Dog"
skottmjfarkus 2 years ago
Jimmy's used it on Ten Years Gone on a love performance before, I thought it sounded great with those dissonant chords he uses on that track.
Wolfy808 2 years ago
You're absolutely right, he did. I have a video somewhere of him playing that at the first night in Knebworth in '79. That's what I played when I tried that Tele out. lol

JukeboxHeartbreak91 2 years ago 2
No shit, if I ever had someone picking up the tab the first thing I'd track down would be a 1958 Gibson Flying V and lock it to my wrist.
