These dogs are just scarily human-like and ultimately amazing creatures. This movie may give the idea that they are vicious but it displays their intelligence. The film was pretty good for its time.
These dogs were developed by the Germans, (Dr Doberman) so as to create the most loyal and powerful dog, through cross-breeding 7 top dog species.
Bet they didn't expect to create man's best friend at its finest!

This is a stunning film - I've got all three and love them just because they show how beautiful and highly intelligent/trainable dobes are. Sadly, some people will always fear the breed, because there are always idiots out there who want muscle dogs. Genuine dog lovers own genuine dobes - wonderful, affectionate and smart. But don't touch their property..lol
I jus don't find them frightening my bf has one, and when I see these's one's im like aw I wanna pet him! Their very beautiful dogs, and to me I see dobermans to as a loyal companion
The video is from a movie, so how the dogs are behaving is only highlighting the intelligence of the dog, that they could be trained to do all those things. Anyone who watches a movie and believes it to be 100% true is just childish and immature.
It is unfortunate that this type of portrayal is being shown. In order for a Doberman to show his teeth like this and look mean they would have to be abused, as is shown by the man taunting the dogs in the kennel. Dobermans are lovely, sensitive, loving dogs and have been given a bad reputation by movies just like this. I purposely take mine to social situations to try to dispel this misconception.
Well your right that people get to see another side of this breed.. But, i have these dogs are not taunted in any way! these are proberly defend/attack dogs, in the scene he shows his/her teeth the dog is proberly lying on a bag or something and he just is protecting that... that is how it is done in many occasions... There a most likely very social dogs and i can assure you that these dogs are not as mean as they look;) PS: look for Schutzhund movies and KNPV on ytube... you'll see.

Ok I realize that this comment was posted 2 years ago so someone probably already replied what I'm going to say by now; but, The Doberman was bred by Herr Karl Louis Friedrich Dobermann. He was a sheriff, tax-rent collector, hunter, and he worked for the local butcher as a skinner/nightwatchman; and he also worked as a dog catcher and was the owner of the local dog pound; and he was also a German Pinscher breeder.
It's recorded that Herr Dobermann owned a Pinscher, Rottweiler (that was given to him by his butcher/employer), and a Weimaraner (that he used for hunting); and it's recorded that Herr Dobermann used his Pinscher when he worked as a sheriff, and his Rottweiler when he worked as a tax-rent collector/nightwatchman. (it's also believed that Herr Dobermann used the dogs at the dog pound for these jobs as well). One day Herr Dobermann had a dream to create a dog that he could use for all these jobs.
It's recorded that Herr Dobermann bred the Pinscher to the Rottweiler, Great Dane, Weimaraner, Greyhound, German Short haired pointer, and the GSD (although there could be more dogs that created the Doberman these are jest the ones that are on record.); and these dogs created the Doberman.
So bottom line even though Dobermans are very loving, and inteligent; they were bred to be attack, guard, police, war, companion, and sheep/cattle dogs.
