  • This video is a little unfair, of course the BJJ Blue is going to win on the ground, what's not shown is the Judo guy could probably throw him so hard it would knock him unconscious and break bones without ever hitting the ground himself

  • @straightoutofwar plz stop the "I'm in the service" schpeel. You and hundreds of thousands of people have been in the service and deployed. You must be brand new. There are plenty of people in all branches of the military who DO NOT like hand to hand fighting at all

  • Why don't you just get the fuck outta here?! You're not worth a reply!!!

  • I'm not worth a reply, yet you continue to do so.... and seeing as how you have nothing to come back at me with other than baseless hostility I guess you took what I had to say to heart. It's OK man, I understand you got heated and flew off the handle without thinking, it can happen to anyone. I forgive you.

  • @StraightoutofWar My hostility, if that is so, comes from your comments and violent wishful thinking. To be honest I have not taken anything 'to heart' as you say and that is why I am still coming back to you. The only think which I do care it's about you man: this jar-head attitude is totally out of my understanding and I am somehow upset that there are still young people that reason the way you do (competitve). This is a matter I do care and is not realted to BJJ but our generation in gereal.

  • Listen, I guess it is a different way of thinking... people like me and maybe others in the service do like hardcore physical competition, and maybe some of us (like myself) do find combat sports and little scuffles here and there highly entertaining. It's because that kind of fighting is a game when you think about what we face when we are deployed, and I enjoy a good wordy back and forth now and again...call me crazy. But we are loyal, and a tight nit group...you get to know us and we're ok.

  • And If I ever got the chance to fight/spar you... I'd take it in a heart beat, and no matter how it ended I'd go out for a beer with you after so we could laugh about it, and go over each others fight game, talk about things that we could do better, and swap tricks and tactics.... I'm not a bad guy, and really I don't think you are either...I think the argument just was out of a misunderstanding. I know you're in Italy, but I'd like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving none the less.

  • Maybe my service will take me to Italy one day so we can actually fight and train some day. That would be awesome.. My Sgt that helps me with my kickboxing was from Naples. Best wishes bro, talk to you soon.

  • @StraightoutofWar your so kind hahaha

  • You should have started standing up, so he could have slammed your head into the mat.

  • @StraightoutofWar We actually did start many matches standing and your wish did not happen at all. Actually he didn't really manage to capitalize any clear takedowns. Few time we went to the ground I ended up on his back or full guard etc.

I wish you were able to fulfil your wish personally!!!

  • @spacetonic I cant really slam people. I train a lot of striking and I'm just getting into getting comfortable with BJJ, I tend to use a lot of Bravo's Rubber guard but people say it's going to handicap me in higher levels of Jiujitsu.... guess we'll see. So slamming...maybe not... unless you count slamming my shin into your quad.

P.S while I was rooting for a judo slam, I do like how you started going from your knees to a seated position to assure you'd get guard. I've never tried that before

  • @StraightoutofWar So you are surprised about the sitting guard?! Ironic as this proves you're a newbie in the sport and yet you threaten me with your striking. Honestly, maybe this is the war attitude or something but just chill and try to learn something Don't be overconfident cause even masters got something to learn, let aside someone like you that just started grappling!

  • @spacetonic Holy shit, you really are a douche bag aren't you. I said I wanted to see a Judo head slam because they are awesome, and then I said If we were able to fight, I'd pretty much use my striking because that's what I'm best at, Yeah...I'm a newbie at BJJ, but I like it and I'm learning. And Don't think just because you know BJJ that a striker with some take down defense can't fuck you up and make you look stupid. Maybe you should chill the fuck out you fucking jackass!

  • Respond to this video... I tried to compliment you on something you did that I thought was cool, and then you turn and toss it in my face and start to attack me....I did like your sitting guard, and I'm more impressed that you can pull guard on your high horse. You're one arrogant little prick, It's know it all's like you that end up on the wrong end of a KO highlight video. Trust me, you just aren't good enough to talk smack at on a whim, do yourself a favor, fucking chill out.

  • @spacetonic I just got my brown belt in judo ( yesterday) and i use the sitting guard quite often in my judo fights / randori's alot of Judoka these days dont know how to react to it and tend to stay in the guard way to long which gives me an oppurtunity of easy submission holds, i actually learned that guard from watching BJJ on youtube and then practising it in randori :)

  • Look at those trophies..

  • NIce blue gi. Not.

  • That's the gayest lookin gi I've ever seen! Turquoise WTF!

  • that club is not very strict on their rankings. thats more like a white belt in japan

  • @jsaccount808 He was regional champion in Judo. He just had poor ground game. In Italy Newaza is generally neglected focusing more on Olympic rules style!

  • @spacetonic i see. hope he learns his ne waza before he can get his shodan

  • @spacetonic

Man I cross train and compete in both BJJ and Judo. Thanks for showing yet again that the ground game is neglected in too many Judo Dojos. I was still a white belt in BJJ and I tapped Judo Blue and Brown belts. They are good Judo guys, but once on the ground it's done son.

  • @AmericanFenian i presume u live in america? the american people have been teaching the wrong way of judo not the traditional japanese kodokan judo. i live in the UK and here the ground game is taught to judokas just like the tradition and we r very well balanced fighters

  • @alphie10

I often make that comment that the Katami Waza is neglected in the US, but worked in Asia, Europe, and Brasil.

The Judo in America is geared towards competitions. There is very little Katami Waza allowed in competitions. People can fight about BJJ vs Judo all they want, but in the end it all goes back to Japanese Jujitsu. We have about as much fighting within Jiu Jitsu Gi vs NoGi as there is between BJJ vs Judo. It's all sorta stupid.

  • @AmericanFenian thats a bad thing tho because at the end of the day if the US faced the japanese in a judo comp they r very skilled at ne waza as well as tachi waza

  • @alphie10

I'm a BJJ guy, I totally agree. That's why I cross train. I can't stand to be good at only one aspect of anything. In Judo I constantly work on sweeps and in BJJ I'm always working my guard game. I have great take downs and guard passes so I work on what I'm weakest at.

  • @AmericanFenian yes in america the way judo has become is sort of just a throwing sport when its a grapling art. here in the uk newaza is practised in judo not very often but we train in it maybe i wuld say we do 70% throws and 30% groundwork

  • @alphie10

I would say that that's a good mix. With 30% ground work, yer gonna control the vast majority of attackers. We practice like 80% ground work in my BJJ school. Most of us don't really need stand up, because at least half of us come from wrestling backgrounds. I've not been taken off my feet by a throw yet(not saying it can't happen). But I got swept once in a tournament because I wasn't use to them. That's why I take Judo. I'm not use to losing so I was like F That, time to crosstrain

  • @AmericanFenian hahaha not bad the only problem with BJJ fighters is that their posture is soo bad and easy to read that its almost imposible for a BJJ to takedown a judoka however when on the ground its 60/40 really altho BJJ wuld have serious advantage in knowing how to apply no gi chokes etc. BJJ and Judo are sister arts they are very very closely related so any gi chokes u try, a judoka wuld no how to avoid them its only no gi as i said the bjj wuld have more of an advantage.

  • @alphie10

Yep, I have to constantly remember to relax with my grips. If I don't than everything I do the other guy feels. I have to roll blind most of the time. For some reason closing my eyes helps me to relax. Has really done wonders for my sense of feel as well and frustrates the people I roll with. I do this for both Jiu Jitsu and Judo.

  • @AmericanFenian never relax in judo hahaha u will get thrown within a spilt second because as wel;l as feeling the oponent the judoka also looks at the eyes to catch the oponent sleeping so its not always a good thing to close ur eyes as for grips never relax just keep ur hands locked at angles dont straighten ur arms becaz if u do 1. thats a penalty and 2. u can get thrown with forward throws ie ippon seoi nage. its kinda hard to explain but what belt r u in judo?

  • @alphie10

Still very new. I test for my yellow belt soon.

  • @AmericanFenian im orange belt geting tested for green in january ish time but ive been doin judo for about 8-9 months and i was still white belt becaz the club I train at produced an olympic gold and bronze medalist lol so i train high quality judo so altho im orange belt I know alot of techniques and how to fight just wen it comes to applying them is wen I gain my practise from fighting. after green its blue then brown then black so end of next year i shuld be starting my blue belt .

  • @spacetonic As a judoka... Even though we should be training more newaza because of Modern MMA, there's one thing every judoka should know and do well in... With/no gi chokes and armbars.

  • @jsaccount808 thats more like a white belt in america!

  • That guy looked lost. I'm a Judo guy that probably rolls at an entry-level BJJ blue belt (in other words I can hang) and he was making a lot of mistakes. It's good to see that it's not just Judoka in the United States that have poor (generally speaking) newaza.

  • damn i grappled a Judo figher too. early today. judo fighers are tough.

  • Nice light blue gi

  • That's a pretty Gi ;-)

  • were you invited to the school, or did you just drop in? no disrespect to that brown belt, but you may have just as well been sparring with a BJJ white belt from what i can see. I liked your use of open guard into the sweep to twisting arm control into the armlock finish. After that it looked like he didn't want anything to do with you....

  • @smeghead28 HAHAHAHA...looks like he didn't want anything to do with me. This guy grappled with me for two days!!!

I went to visit my brother in Italy where he is studying and I wanted to train so I dropped by this Judo jym. I asked their sensei if I could just roll with my brother on the side of the mat while they do their training and he was OK. This guy approached me and kindly invited me to roll...you know the rest!

I have videos of both days but just wanted to make short one.

  • @tiatap Why do you even bother to watch when you have no clue about this sport and you even leave a dumb comment?

  • One of the loveliest gi's in existence!
