  • EVERY YEAR SOUND BETTER.

  • very kool tune always great to hear.....simple as one two three a great song that fits!!!

  • Pretty good song. Haven't heard this in almost 30 years. They're still tryin to be a rock band here. Great solo.

  • Gary Gary Gary : P

  • trailer park rock,

  • a klassik that shines in some of the best 80s not overplayed!!!

  • Brought me great memories of youth!

  • Wow! why do you guys want me to cry? No were to run.

  • this was the first video I ever saw on MTV. Now they play shit like "Jersey Shore." I wish they'd play videos again, instead of featuring promiscuous, untalented, alcoholic pea-brains like "Snooky" and all the other slack-jawed troglodytes on that show. What a waste.

  • nevermind..found one.

  • How come no one has a quality studio version of this song uploaded???

  • i mean music like this that's actually good

  • i wish that they would put awesome music on instead of that rap crap

  • what year did this song come out in? reo is agreat band and an example of a group that worked together and didnt have any showboats, no egos, just great rock and roll

  • @balancepiston This came out in 1982. What I wouldn't give to relive that year of high school!

  • didn't see these guys in till the early 90's great show over ten years after first hearing them.....kool band!!!!

  • me encanta su musica y vocalista tambien, pero si reparan, el vocalista tiene la cara de chespirito pero pelucon, alucinenlo con el gorrito del chavo del 8, es igualito

  • REO hit #7 in Billboard, 8-14-82. God bless ya. for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I sure miss this band, wow great hits during my youth, thanx for posting this awesome song!!!!!!!!!!

  • very grateful. I have memories of good old rock'roll. Mark (BRAZIL)

  • @PCI16X ooy doi du :)

  • @eyeluvtopaint THEY ARE STILL AROUND GENIUS.

    \

  • NOTE: This doesn't imply that today's REO is bad, but this song represents a betrayal according to the 2 biggest (600# combined) REO fans ever - me & Art. When the needle first dropped on this song we both said "You f-n gotta be s-n me" The band's direction shifted away from its roots. Just play "Golden Country" and then this one and feel the sting. Many of you will understand. It's like catching your wife in bed with Ernie Banks - or how Red Sox fans felt when Babe Ruth became a Yankee.

  • Best. Band. Ever. (Or at least one of them anyways)

  • i have had the awesome honor of chillin with kevin cronin lots of times.recently he signed a poster of a picture he and i took together back in 1992.his hair was far bigger than now.i told him that he should look into rentin space out to squirrels lol he and the band laughed non stop lol i think theyre still laughin lol

  • @lance9772 I doubt it since it was very corny...they were probably laughing at you :)

  • Imagine that. POP/ROCK/good lyrics, sound, actual instruments, with great vocals. We lost this good music when music industry became more about shock, than it did talent.

  • Kevin Cronin looks like a poodle with that hairstyle, but who cares, a true rockin' song

  • best band ever

  • the lead singer looks like one of the guys off of that 70s show. sorry forgot both of those names.

  • Keep the joint burning,I say.

  • Real music stays forever. This is one of the perfect examples.

  • Hi! I am Simizoli70 from Hungary! This is very great song:)

  • very grateful. Have a nice day

  • jamming those keys!!!!

  • Keep the fire burning............

  • a great song from a great band, wow, what great guitar!!!!

  • I fully agree . very grateful. Have a nice day

  • Esa rola era mi grito de guerra ..wooouuuu

  • @edgardosegoviano JAJAJA, también la mía, allá por 1983!!!

  • Can Alan still able to play drums like that, anyone out there know?...

Kevin can't even raise a low note nowadays...Poor fella, can't always fight age and time!!!

  • esses caras tocavam muito. Grande banda.

  • check the album credits for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @frankwhite52 ! Good Moorning! I'm from Brazil and i don't understand your question. Thank you! Marcos

  • @frankwhite52

    Why?

  • It seems like 1982 was only yesterday.

Marcos

  • Why didn't I live 20 years ago?

  • Ayyy,que recuerdos...!l la escuchaba cuando estaba en 5 año,alla por 1980...gracias por subirla....

  • i love kevin (no homo). he is so amazing, I wish I was around back in the day when he had his long hair. That would have been so cool to see. I am trying to grown mine out to match his, cuz that hair is bound to be a huge chick magnet. And Lets not forget, that gary is amazing too. I love the way he plays.

  • One of my favorite bands!

  • @RedheadMom2 are you retarded? Have you no musical taste? REM, REO, Collins, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie nicks, etc., etc., I mean wtf? Go ahead and listen to your lady gaga, 50-cent crap. All that r&b, hip-hop, newer age shit that is fucking kids up these days, and I will continue to listen to music that rocks! and by rocks, I mean music from the 60's, 70's, 80's. The decades when music was amazing.

  • @joeyjokester you got that right lol i dont like that stuff my friends do but i dont

  • Hit #2 rock, #7 pop in Billboard. Cut in the same key as 'Roll with the changes'. God bless!

  • This is where we belong, we are strong we can never give up!!

    Keep the fire burnin'...

I remember getting out of the record store with that vinil in my hands!

  • thats what I call an excellent hairstyle.

  • Ok, my last comment for awhile about how a song reminds me of my Dad, but this one really does. I can see him putting on the cassette and rocking out to this song in the kitchen like it was yesterday. What happened? Where'd you go, Dad? And what happened to this music? I sure wish I could have it all back (especially my Dad). Great tune and memory!

  • Carnaval no meu pais é assim: é para turista ver. Os brasileiros ficam em casa escutando Rock n Roll. Translating: Carnival in my country is like that: is for tourist..The Brazillians stay at home listening Rock n Roll and drinking Beer...

  • i remember buying the "hi-infidelity"tape,I immediately fell in love the group.Go REO SPEEDWAGON!!!

  • @tiredfather2008 Hi Infidelity made me fall in love with REO Speedwagon too. <3 I used to listen to it in my dad's car almost every morning on the way to skating practice in fourth grade.

  • A great memory of being 11 years old. So amazing I can remember those years so distinctly. What happened yesterday??...

  • @Bigtime1998 In my humble opinion I believe there is more love between people. Who sang did so with love. Good times where had hot music mix. Some young people I know say they should have lived the years 80/90. Grateful!

  • Great song !! ...sweet memories

  • reo rocking it!!!

  • Very reminiscent of 'Roll with the changes'

  • granted it was the only song worth a shit on the album

but what a song. . . you cant "turn it up" loud enough!!!

  • I will always remember this song being a New Year's Eve song. The DJ at the local radio station (KEZY in Los Angeles) said, "Let's Keep the Fire Burnin' in 1983"

  • ViciousAlienKlown,

Your right that this album was a disappointment compared to High Infedelity. However besides Keep the Fire Burning, which peaked at #7 in June of 82, Sweet Time also broke the top 20 later in September of 82.

Sweet Time was another of Kevin's ballads, but it has a decent solo by Gary, which should'nt surprise anyone.

  • This was the only good song on that album, a big disappointment after High Infidelity.

  • There is more good songs on this album, in my opinion one of their best.

  • 1982 was a very good and fun year in rock music; I really wish Gary and Allan reunite with the rest of the gang one day and just bring back the good 'ol days...regardless of the differences these guys went through!!!

  • @grumpypant I most definitely agree. I loved Good Trouble as much as or more than High Infidelity and really think it deserves more attention. The band basically ignores it in their live shows. I would love to see a reunion tour where they would play just the two or three early 80's albums. Hope it happens but it probably won't.

  • lo máximo de los 80s

  • What year did this song come out?

  • 1982. I just pulled the album out of my collection to be sure. I liked this album even tho it didn't do as well commercially. Rock on REO. REO stands for Ransom E Olds, the inventor of the Oldsmobile, who also happens to be an ancestor of mine.

  • Great!Great! REO is the best.

  • white folks should sport afros these days too

  • ahh.. i really wish i was there!!! cant stay too long in this crap generation!

  • Agreed.

  • Is Gary Yngwie Malmsteen's younger brother?...just curioused!

  • these song rocks.long live REO SPEEDWAGON. it reminds me my teenage life.good stuff, chicks and rocknroll.....

  • is there a video out there 4 157 riverside video?

  • i don't now. sorry.

  • i live in dunlap which is next to peoria .gary s family lives in east peoria and reo was origanly from champaign

  • I want all the happiness in the world to reo. many songs me happiness and strength to fight. I lived in sao paulo and now I'm in salvador bahia. what God help them .marcos. thank's

  • @PCI16X At least you can enjoy the bossa and samba vibes all we got here is Frans Bauer en Zanger Rinus. Feel free to check those out. :)

  • @freekdevos I am now living in Salvador, Bahia and the musicianship here is very strong. Frans Bauer liked. When it comes to Brazil will enjoy the Carnival. Grateful!

  • @PCI16X Muito prazer! Quizas voy a celebrar a carnaval en rio este año. Mais noa es segur. Es in Mars, de verdad? 3 o 4? Eu gosta muito a samba!

  • Great song, Great band. Every time they come to NJ, I see them, They rock!

  • Great song, great voice. great band, great era. Music today, or should i say noise, "SUCKS"

  • Good morning! agree full.Thanks

  • KEVY! The lead REO singer is my twice removed cousin! My g-ma's cousin to be exact! I saw him last like a couple months ago... but at least i saw him again- ive only met him twice, go ahead and ask him if hw knows a maryl mccann, shes my gma-

  • Well sead ( flufftdoll ) rap sucks and 80's rocks

  • wish music was still great like this , guess you only get one 80's.don't like rap!reo speedwagon is still great!

  • Good songs like this today is very difficult. Thanks. have a nice day

  • I play guitar but have no ear for music when it comes to naming keys or chords. Anyway can anyone tell me what chords on the piano Kevin is playing just before Gary's solo? Right about 2:45 into the song. Sounds like 3 or 4 chord changes. Gary is playing (I think from what I see) C,D,E, and G in his solo on the G string of his guitar. Maybe that helps in telling me what those chords Kevin is playing on the rhythym. Thanks. If anyone knows the whole tab I'd appreciate it!

  • Isn't it C, F, gm, all 3 chords with bass c?

  • I agree with Kranakin...Greatest hits albums are for bands that suck and REO does not suck. Their early stuff really rocked but it seems only the pop stuff gets any recongnition. 157 Riverside Avenue is one of my favorites and was great to see live back in the day! A real rockin' party tune.

  • strong message, don't get that alot these days do you?

  • with certainty. thanks very much.

  • You know, it really pisses me off that this song and I don't wanna know are not included on their 1988 greatest hits CD. I am sure that many fans out there probably agree with me on that, right?

  • And also, both of those tunes aren't even on their 2 cd set, the essential REO speedwagon which is a real pain in the ass.

  • Actually, I checked amazon and Keep the fire burning is featured on their 2 cd set, the essential REO speedwagon.

  • you have that right they're both great tunes that deserve the honor and respect of being on it.

  • A forgotten hit by REO. I saw the Wheels Are Turning & Life As We Know It tours. Sadly, they didn't play this. I hope they bring it back. It's a good song.

  • Agree fully . Thanks.

  • AWESOME

  • Great song.

  • this song like so many other songs U.S. left good memories. thanks.

  • This song was all over MTV back in 82.

  • great but overlooked reo tune.

  • very grateful! I fully agree

  • Comment removed

  • I am a big REO fan but I have to agree that this band isnt the same without Gary. You Can Tuna A Piano was the high water mark for this band and as Garys influence waned so did the rock. Finally the band wasnt big enough for both Gary's talent and Kevins ego. Sad story but not uncommon in music.

  • People you seem to forget Reo had some

great albums in the 70'd Reo 2 is a classic that to me is Reo's best record they made Golden Country ,Being Kind Can Hurt Sometimes, Let Me Ride. And many more this album rocked.Liveing In A Dream was a good album a little different but had some great songs .There on the road ,Down by the Damn, Sky Blues, just to name a few.And Finally Nine Lives was the last hard rock album Reo made before Hi Infidelity. That is my least favorite record that Reo Made.

  • @cantsay4sure Kind of like KISS. Ace and Peter's talents were too much for Gene's ego.

  • Speedwagon's last great/good/not bad song. Richrath was half the heart of Speedwagon and when he was booted half the heart left with him. By the way Kevin, you still sweet on Obama? You've got to be cringing about now!

  • this was not reo's last good song, they had cant fight this feeling, one lonely night, that aint love, variety tonight, in my dreams, and live it up, and this song came out in 82, gary didnt leave the band till 89.

  • that's kinda my point. seemed like REO turned into one long, sappy love song and the days of a heavier sound was at last gone. i just think much was lost when Gary was pushed aside which I think happened after Hi Infidelity if I'm not mistaken.

  • no, your a fucking idiot, Gary left the band in 89. Hi Infidelity came out in 1980. they released 3 more albums with richrath after hi infidelity. the band didnt really do much after gary left. once more i will inform you that gary left the band in 1989 not 1980 or 1982.

  • dude, you're kinda a douche. i know when Gary left. sorry to insult your supreme speedwagon knowledge. my point was that Gary was no longer the "co-pilot" after hi infidelity as he stated in Behind the Music" so lighten up and go get pissed off about something more important. btw, can't fight this feeling is one of the shittiest speedwagon songs ever!

  • @RememberDeath2112 I always had a feeling Cronin was an obama troll.

  • AFRO

  • This song is cheezy! Poor Gary looks bored to death! "Let us never loose our urning to keep the fire burnin all nite long." LOL !!! I am a big Reo fan from the early days thru Hi Infidelity.

  • keep the fire burning but don't play with fire.....for my french friends!!!!

  • Thanks for forwarding this one mate! Yeah, REO is one of my fave rock bands. Who would forget "Can't Fight This Feeling" and "In My Dreams".

  • love reo...what happened to music?

  • Comment removed

  • very grateful for the comments. I don't have the video request, but if you find issue. Marcos

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I have sorely missed this video. Do you have a video for "Girl with the Heart of Gold"? It's very similar to this video.

  • need that reo fix.....

  • I haven't been following up on what's been going down with these guys since the late 80s...will some one please tell me whatever happened to Gary and Alan?

    Thanks guys!

  • Alan Gratzer pretty much retired and Gary Richrath left because of differences w/Kevin Cronin. REO still continues to tour and record with new guitarist Dave Amato along with drummer Bryan Hitt and long time members keyboardist Neal Doughty and bassist Bruce Hall. They still have a cult following even though they don't have the radio appeal of their earlier hey-day. These guys still rock!

  • very grateful for the help

  • Everything was right except "these guys still rock". They are lame without their guitar player, Gary Richrath. Since he left they are just covering his hits.

  • you bet,

but we have to admit that neal doughty, is a great keybord player

  • very grateful!

  • @jim543212 Agree with you 100%. Speaking of covering the songs, I wonder what happens in 2011 for the High Infidelity anniversary tour. How sad that will be without Gary - I keep hoping he will be invited back for that tour for appearances, somehow, but we all know the odds of that happening. :-(

  • @monchhichi64 Why on earth did Gary Richrath leave REO? Somebody let me know. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg Gary was fired by the band (basically Kevin) back in 1989 because of his addictions (alcohol), it was the worst moment for the band according to the Cronnin in the behind the music show.

  • One of the most inspirational rock tunes of all time. I love REO's attitude. Good Trouble is my favorite REO album. It was good to see Alan on backing vocals!

  • Thanks!

  • REO ROCKS!!! after so many years this song (and Band) is INCREDIBLE and lifts your mood!!

  • I am happy to be a bit of happiness for you.

  • still looking and sounding great after all these years!thanks again it's a kool place to be!

  • great song by a great band. R-E-O!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank God that I lived intensely the joy of music so beautiful in a season of gold. thank you for comment. Marcos

  • Real good song from a real bad album. "Good Trouble" was not a good effort. But I guess you had to expect mediocrity after Hi-Infidelity. Kinda like goin' from the penthouse to the outhouse. This isnt a live video cut either...just the usual '80s TV video.

  • grateful for comment!

  • last new song i remember seeing on mtv by reo!thanxs for posting, great tune!

  • I am very happy and I thank for comment. Happy 2009. Marcos

  • thanks! happy birthday!

  • Love it!
