This televised session on the Wash., D.C. mall also included, of course, "Give Me Just a Little More Time". That's the way I heard and saw it first. General Johnson has a bit of Screamin' Jay Hawkins eye intensity - but you still want to hang for a good time. Great 'Pepsi Generation' stuff. And that has to be John Hartford with an intro at the very start.
General, we miss you. Thank you for giving us such good music. I jam this song all of the time and I love this more every single time I see your videos. The year was 1970 and you didn't give a damn about the race issues from what I see in this video. If there is a Heaven, I hope I can rock out with you there one day. Rest in peace my friend.
@wildcherry171 Wow it was like a millisecond.....your a pervert or a perverted lesbian or am I the perverted one for responding to this? Great Music gets great conversation.
RIP my Friend! You were the best!!! Good luck Ken! I know you and General's wife, Julia want the memory to live on, as do I! All the best to you my friend!
Let's tell the truth, this man had good videos before videos were a thing of modern day releases of a song. And this one would've sold more records than he had sold on this masterpiece. I damn sure wish I was in this video before any of the modern videos that are released. General Johnson was a Gangster Rapper and a Rock Star before his time! I love you, General! You kick some serious ass!
Eddie Curtis does look out of place, Shortly after the UK tour I believe he split, Also Harrison Kennedy went back to blues IIRC Norman never forgotten
I grew up with your Music, General Johnson. Your influence in my personal likings for music is real heavy. Rest in Peace and may someday we can rock out in the Universe. We love you and we will miss you!
Man I feel sideswiped! I have looked for footage this great for ages and now that I finally do get to experience that joy (~ this video was a blast and well worth the wait~) I find that General Johnson has gone on to his reward. Always have and will celebrate the joy of his singing, his writing as well as his productions. Bittersweet indeed!........................(on a faraway distant cloud of soul..... "Ahhh.... Paradise!) Rest In Peace Norman! Thank you!
yes it's a brilliant film clip! love the girls clothes. it's really provocative, but in that era there was a lot of provocative stuff. I remember it well. ahhhhhhhhhhhh........
From this promo film, it looks like Eddie Custis was already considered an extra limb. He's only seen very briefly at 1:29 and he doesn't look too happy. The other three guys look like they're having a ball, and they're the ones we see in most of the shots.
I think it would be funny to have these same people reunite to dance in front of the Washington Monument NOW. I would pay to see some of these geezers hoofing like this!
OMG - This is fantastic - never thought I'd see a proper COTB clip on yt. My favourite soul group EVER. General Johnson you da man!! Thank you so much for sharing.
Early Chairman of the Board. Those people are not Shaggn and I think they had something other than beer! I think a Mosh Pit is about to break out! LOL
This is a fabulous example of HDH switching around musical pieces. This US 45 version has no strings in the middle for example....the album version (ie the UK 45 version) has strings.
I don't know the lead singer's voice, but the emotion he sings with is crazy. In a good way, of course.

At least inthose days all you got to see was the flash of a gussett. In these enlightened times one gets to see what the young lady thinks of Brazil!
