Not being much of a comic book fan (though I did dabble in Spiderman for a time) I can't I'm very excited about lesser titles hitting the big screen. Its just hard generate much interest in something you have never heard of. I think a better route might be adapting these smaller comics to kids TV. Then they could build up a fan base beyond the comic book crowd. I speculate thats what made the difference for the X-Men and Spiderman films, though I could be wrong.

I hope the Darkchylde movie is coming along. I'd also love to see films based on The Magdalena, Witchblade, Hellspawn, The Darkness, Fathom, Aphrodite IX, Danger Girl, The Dirty Pair, The Authority, Loca Sanchez, Femforce and Zatanna (at least in a Constantine sequel). I think Vampirella deserves a reboot and Sheena deserves a remake.

I believe that mostly the main stream comic characters ie: Superman, Batman, Ironman, Spiderman, etc are the movies that will be successful with only a few exceptions. 300 and Kickass are exceptions. People, in general mass, won't go to see a movie on characters they don't know well or ever heard of. Even though I like comics and still have quite a few, I don't even know about 99% of the new characters out there. I didn't even know that Scott Pilgrim was based on a comic at all.

I haven`t read an issue of HackSlash in YEARS! I hardly remember it. But I`m still a bit excited to see what they do with the material. The one thing I do remember about the comic was the style of dark humor mixed with emotional pain.

We have been waiting for this movie for years and there's already a group of people that wants a certain ex-con to play the character Cassie. You may know her as an Actress that has already dived into the pool of nerdom in the SyFy show Warehouse 13. Of course I'm talking about Allison Scagliotti. She definitely has the natural look of Cassie and could pull off her messed up and twisted personality. I just pray they don't get Megan Fox to do this.

And as for ideas for movies based on comics. Has anyone ever heard of "A distant neighborhood" By Jiro Taniguchi? It would make a great drama. And he has plenty of other great stuff like "The Almanac of My Father" and "zoo in winter". I'm normally not a big manga fan but I really love his comics. They're very serious and his style is a bit more European than most mangaka.

@MsRobotRock Because America's attitude toward animation pieces is sadly inherently different from Japan. Which is a crying shame, so many comic books would benefit greatly from being adapted to animated series/movies as opposed to being screwed over by Hollywood.

Vertigo could actually do an anthology show like the old Tales From The Crypt series, where they focus on a different dark character from the DCU/Vertigo universe. One week you get a story about sandman, the next one about Prez, Brother power the geek, John Constantine, there's alot of possibilities with that. they put out alot of one shots and single issue stories in series. so it could work great.

Besides I'm sure DC wouldn't be opposed to letting the Vertigo people work on the show in some fashion. Whoever is the editor of the vertigo line could work as a producer. I think it would be a great series.

The Couriers series could make a really good film. The Goon, The Umbrella Academy would be a cool animated film or even series aimed at adults. Indie comics are a tricky thing, but at the same time they have a much wider genre range so you could find one to fit any kind of demographic. As far as less superhero styled comics, alot of the vertigo series are ripe for movies/tv. Sandman, Scalped, DMZ, anything by Brian Wood really,

I'd want an unknown actress to play the lead, because there are no big names in the Hollywood rotation that are suitable for the role. But, as with most actresses chosen for roles in comic-book based movies, I'm sure the Hollywood executives will find a way to screw up the cast. They'll go for known names rather than people who are best for the roles.

Smaller titles may have they're fans, but they aren't as huge as "Batman", "Superman", "Captain America" or others. Because those titles had stories for everybody.

One title I think is in need for the live-action action movie is "Gen 13".

Right now I think Scott Pilgrim should get a animated series going, remember that awesome animated promo on Adult Swim, they really pulled it off. As for other comics while speaking out horror i personally would like to see Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. Granted their has to be major changes (Mostly better) to the comic if Sam and Bruce are going to be involved.

first off i want to say i love Scott Pilgrim, Kick-Ass, and Watchmen with Scott Pilgrim being my favorite. i play an MMO titled City of Heroes and my Supergroup's message of the day is always a quote from Scott Pilgrim. that movie is just amazing and i could watch it over and over.

as far as Hack/Slash i don't really know anything about the comic, especially the age of the girl that i suppose is the main character... Chloe Moretz was absolutely amazing in Kick-Ass and she stole the show
