I don't think the submersible imploded near the bottom of the abyss. The abyss in this movie is well over 17,000 feet deep, in which one of the main characters in the movie dives down in a special diving suit. They announce he's at 17,000 feet well before he reaches bottom.
@chuckmanofgod I think that pink liquid he was breathing helped him out, but what if he had gas in his guts? Wouldn't his guts explode from the pressure?
@davehowellman - I agree! A lot of movie staers like him were never really A-listers. Bill Paxton too. He's been in so many great movies and yet he's not an A-lister
@Commonwealth96 - If you like implosions, check out the other video on my channel from the movie 'Raise the Titanic' where a submersible called Starfish implodes at 12,000 feet :)
This scene just gave me serious nightmares when I first watched it. It was terrifying. But now that I've watched it a few times, I have to agree with you - it's a very good scene. Nicely done, Cameron.
What a... crushing blow.

He probably didn't feel a thing!

This is what must have happened to many of the people still inside Titanic as she plunged to the depths!

@clctitanic Nah, they drowned long before the pressure could do them any harm.

Michael Biehn should have made it to the Hollywood A-list, can't understand why he never did!

I saw this as a little kid and I didn't full understand the concept of implosion. Only later did I understand how frightening this was haha
