Lol It was a Star of David not a cross, anyway I really liked this special. No idea how he did those "instant conversions." Derren Brown is amazing. I just wish he wasn't against religion so much though.
It's very interesting the chapter is called Messiah when just one case is related to the significant of that word. I don't mean the original word mashiaj and its meaning, just the significant wich in most of the cases is related to a judeo-christian belief system.
More suggestion or a well disguised atack on Jesus?
how did derren knows what that woman actually draw? its random he guess it very close.. even guess what the dream of that business woman.. i know he's fake but how did he guess it so close..
Its the trick of SUGGESTION. When you start talking to Derren, you wouldnt even notice that he is already feeding you suggestions that will very much likely affect your future thoughts. Derren can then just make a calculated guess/prediction of what you will think.
Im not so sure about this, but I think this is what Derren just did.
@AtheistsAreSkeptics That's exactly what he does. Listen to 08:03 for the third picture. "Let different images just SAIL through your mind. Don't go OVERBOARD." And he guesses something with water :)
@xander2924956 Very vague wording combined with a trick of suggestion. You push a person towards doing "mental gymnastics" to fit with the description. There could also be the question of being polite: you don't want the person across from you to look like a complete fool.
@curvand I don't know precisely how this works but it's obviously related to the sense of balance and losing it. Notice that Derren asked him to keep his feet together (immediately creating a less stable stance). I think the longer one stands in that position one begins to sway, ever so gently, and the slightest 'suggestion' can force one to fall. I'd like to know what created the impetus to fall as Derren certainly didn't touch him. Perhaps it was the sound of him moving...
@curvand Also, notice that Derren plants the suggestion that he will catch the man when he falls ("I will catch you when this happens"). So he already thinks he's going to fall and he is made to stand in a less than stable position when Derren moves behind him. It may be difficult to fathom how this happens, but supernatural it most certainly isn't.
I srsly want to know how he does that pull/punch move without touching someone

Derren shows just how easy people can be fooled. Thus explaining religion's long lasting sucsess.
