This song, I'm sure always takes us back to some special time (s) at some point in our lives, as we have known and enjoyed Roger's music.
To ROKMELON's comments (2 yrs ago), please don't let it break your heart; instead, just think of the special momments it afforded you and your father and for just that minute, relive and enjoy the memories!
i love sitting in my grandparents living room listening to this music... its so deep and touching and has moved me to tears more than once! May Rodger rest in peace while his inspiring and touching music lives on!
omg dawsoncat you reminded me, my dad got the 8 track of the last farewell right before passing on but your comment reminded me of him playing it in his oldsmobile it was great!
I used to listen to Roger with my father...my father and I had a difficult relationship but this was one of the only things we both enjoyed together, he is gone now and Roger's music breaks my heart when I hear it.
rokmelon, I feel your pain, as my story is very similar to yours. However, Roger's music makes me miss my dad ver much, yet it makes me feel closer to him. i pray the same peace for you, and Thank God for Roger Whittaker(and youtube to share him on)
@rokmelon I hear you, I have the same with my dad, and though he is thankfully still with us, the songs fo Roger always brought us together, even through all our troubles!
Rogers still performing all the time. He is big in Europe and sings in several languages. At 72 his voice is not what it used to be, but if they can make Brittany sound like she can sing, it is a cakewalk with Roger. There are some clips of him as recently as last year.
This man can sing. I would love to sing this song to my wife of 31 years. Listen to the lyics and it says a lot about the man and his family and music. I would love to find this song on karaoke.
i first heard roger in french while a boy in cornwall on canada...un elephant etc....hes such an historic treasure now...his "song for eric" will still make me proud inside...roger,s a god..a true icon of melodic presence for our era..
My parents had the album of this show - I remember the little speech... If you go on his website you can post questions on the message book and if you leave your e-mail they will get back to you
as a young child I remember a song he wrote concerning the war in 1942. In fact I think it was called 1942, where he wrote letters home, "the first began, my darling Ann, I'm a prisoner of war..." Any help would be appreciated! Loved that song, remember it as a child...
Can anyone out there in cyber help!!! Roger Whittaker had done a song, 'My Land is Kenya'that I cannot seem to trace!. I rrreally need to listen to it, if only for inspiration seeing as my country is up in flames.
I couldn't agree more. I have been searching for the song, My Land is Kenya with no success. I first watched it many years ago but it doesn't seem to exist anymore!
