This was a good movie, but there's something I don't get. Not spoiling anything, but in the movie, it takes the Hiccup a while to learn to befriend and ride the dragon. Near the end of the movie, it takes all those other kids a few minutes to learn how to ride them with no trouble at all. I don't get that at all.
@kingsaravia1 That's because Hiccup didn't have an experienced person with him to train Toothless. But at the end, Hiccup was already experienced. He knew exactly how to train your dragon. Those kids had him along them. And that's why they trained their dragons in a few minutes =) They had Hiccup.
@kingsaravia1 All right dude, jeez o_o How could I know that thousands of people replied on your comment? And yes, I'm too lazy to look at the commentbox. It was just unexpected >.>
@kingsaravia1 Well, realizing this comment is five months old, I can explain it fairly easily. Hiccup had nobody to show him how to tame a dragon, no way of knowing in advance what would work. However, when he had learned the tricks, he WAS there to show the others. He was able to teach them, to show them how, so they didnt have to blindly stumble through
For a thousand years, ironsmiths struggled to master their method, but today, we master it easily, because we were taught, and they were not.
The Scottish Accent thing is fairly easy to explain, really. Hollywood has long been under the impression that ANY european accent can be replaced by either an english or scottish accent, depending on whether the people being portrayed are supposed to be imperial and sophisticated or rugged and barbaric, respectively. Look at all movies throughout history that would otherwise be foreign-language.
Rome, Enemy at the Gates, Valkyrie, etc. Everyone is English, except for a few Americans.
@kingsaravia1 Hiccup had to learn everything along the way. In the end Hiccup was there to teach the other kids. So instead of having to learn as they go, they could just be told what to do. Not to mention, Toothless was somewhat of an example to the other dragons. 'Hey the humans are okay'
@kingsaravia1 Toothless is a nightfury, and Hiccup is pioneering in dragon riding. The methods he uses are pretty easy, he's just the first one to discover them.
HTTYD and Disney's The Little Mermaid. Two races aren't allowed to be friends, although only one race is aware of that. The big-muscle daddy finds out his child has feeling for an outsider and after an argument he leaves him/her not caring where (s)he'll go or what (s)he'll do. We have a climax battle with a giant female creature. Then we have a happy ending and the main protagonist finally gets his/her love interest. Ha, see what I did there
I think the accent is unimportant for a review, Unless they intentionally hired scotish voice actors, or it is just supposed to sound that way to make a mark of how vikings are like in speech. I'd give it 4.5. I enjoyed the movie, for me the only thing that made it less perfect is that the villain is a dragon, not another mythical creature, which makes the idea of 'everything-we-know-about-dragons-are-wrong' kinda shaky.
@mdelar first off, I absolutely loved this movie. Im huge on dragons so that might be part of it, but I honestly liked this nearly as much as avatar. Also, Is your job Manny theMovieGuy, or is this just something you do because of your sources? Also, love you, respect you and hope you keep doing whatever it is you do.
@Blaze468 Hi there, thanks so much! Yes, my job is being Manny the Movie Guy and I feel truly blessed...hope you visit my website and check on my About Me page...thanks again and have a great week ahead!
Such a cute movie! Craig Ferguson made all of the scenes he was in hilarious and Toothless remins me of my cat lol I want a Night Fury, so glad I saw this
this film seemed a bit ''meh'' but probably will end up making a lot of money because of the imax release. when you said ''release your inner dragon' i instantly thought of that line in clash of the titans,i wonder if that film will be any good
Great! Yes, I enjoyed The Runaways too, for the same reason I enjoyed Remember Me...at least those two big Twilight stars are doing something different from the norm...and I admire them for that :)
Hey, look at that - a guy without a pair of balls reviews a movie? Fascinating indeed...

@mdelar The other kids don't have to control a missing tail fin.
Liz8D 1 year ago
@kingsaravia1 granted, Hiccup had to learn all by himself and the other kids had someone to teach them.
Shadoessa 1 year ago
@kingsaravia1 It's coz he had to learn on his own,but they were tought how to do it.
pyradragon 1 year ago
@kingsaravia1 Because hiccup had to build the whole false tail and get used to the controls, as the other kids just had to jump on a dragons back.
