Systema was influenced by it's neighboring Chinese martial arts and branches of Kung Fu, especially the older Chen style of Tai
Chi. This style of Tai Chi was more into quick strikes like the one inch punch and also sudden clinching throws and takedowns. Both also use what the Chinese masters call "Bo Lang Shen Fa" or wave-like striking methods
@mislai no it isnt. i'm training this martial art and it realy works. the correct word is Biomechanics. if a systema-guy hits you, it looks like everything should be ok, but you feel, that it isnt. it realy works, looks in few cases harmless, but thats a lie..
@mitre991 I learn "the system" right now, when i first started i though it was just jumping around like a fairy and looking good, i didnt think it was overly useful compaired to other arts i have done but once you learn a few things you are very suprised at how good it really works. In my personal opinion its the best out there.
i really woud love to get knocked out by this fat man, doubt tht this thing is workng, i didn t chek it until today ,but i will next time i hear something about systema i wll go there and let him do his thing , i´ill do mine , as i said i am a wing tsun pract.

i am looking to take up a martial arts, and i was wondering your guys' opinions about my choices, i want to take up either sambo or systema "russian style" hand to hand combat, and also if i do take up systema, i live in tucson az, not la, where/how would i learn it. is it really as effective as it seems?
@monkeyape1248 systema is even more effective than it seems. this video is free, so can you imagine what can they teach you if you pay? LOL no really, its pure effectiveness
if everyone knew systema and everybody else knew that every person knows systema there wouldnt be half the crimes in the world today (and im talkin crimes on street level) people need to know how to defend themselves
Systema is not about the techniques, it's about principles and improvisation
and the punching is about forcing the energy of the whole body to you're fist and then exploding in the enemy , it's like "kicking someone with you're fist"
these guys look like they haven't eaten in days......they can't even hold a knife with a little strength behind it....i can take any1 one if they haven't eaten in a week, and they got a knife...
@xiucaisoldier Judging by this vid, it's similar to Aikido in some ways, except Aikido has less emphasis on strikes and almost none on pressure points. It's mostly throws and joint manipulation. Be sure to check out your local dojo first, though, because there's a lot of people who THINK they understand Aikido but don't, and still more who do but are just bad at teaching it.
Thats cool. How far back does Russian history go? I often wondered if they where influenced by the romans or did they have their own empire? I know nothing about Russian history and am now very curious.
I am new to systema . I thought this video goes a great job showing the effectiveness of this art. I currently study Okinawan Karate (Isshinryu) and am interested in expanding my knowledge of different styles of martial arts.
@eapollo I can advise u to either carry on with Karate and do Judo...or if u want to quit Karate, then move on to SanShou(Sanda)...on theory systema is good but trust me mate...nobody will wait for you to spin them around and make them dance on their toes, especially someone stronger than you.Let alone a boxer or a cage fighter, who will perform 10-20 strike combos,80% of whom u will not see...its all about sparring and not set techniques who are complicated and hard to remember.
@ImperialPride7 If Systema didn't work, then why would the Spetsnaz use it? A boxer can only punch, and as for a cage fighter, are you serious about "10-20 strike combos"? That has to be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. MMA fighters train to fight in a cage, bound by a set of rules, for 3 minute bouts; their skills would only translate to the real world under the assumption that whoever is attacking you is unarmed; not a one of them practices disarms or small joint locks. Real helpful.
@ImperialPride7 I hope you're not judging this martial art only because of the videos you have seen of it. That would be quite unfair, because: a) in most videos, you see people PRACTICING and TRAINING systema. It's an imense difference whether you just practice something or really use it, as in a fight. And b) judging something without actually having experienced something first hand is, how to put it... Very narrow minded.
@ImperialPride7 WHat you're talking about is more Krav Maga, this looks VERY similar to Krav, just dont try using it in cage fighting or tournaments, you'll bloody kill someone.
@xX3PIDEMICXx27 It's kinda hard to see but the reason it looks fake is because he has something in his hand that he hits them with thats really difficult to see, he isn't jkust flailing his arm around.
@juifquiaimeleshommes hes a useless conman, the biomechanics are all wrong and nobody can strike from such a poor base. The style is irrelevant, all human movement is governed by the same principles which are absolute truths.
I don't think he pretend that this kind of strike hits harder than a "classic", body-engaged one. He may not beat a boxer's score on a funfair punch-machine. But trust me, seriously, you can learn to hit hard ENOUGH this way, and the feeling is pretty different and uncomfortable. Claiming what you're claiming without having experienced thoses kind of strikes is a bit stupid. I know it sound like a "I do systema, I have stockholm syndrom". But it's just an absolut truth : thoses guys can hit.
my instructor once told us, that when he studied systema in Russia, their instructor used to send them to the street, to start fights with ordinary street people, because the best way to learn, is through real experience.

@richardshapiroII how are they nice throws, there is zero resistance and the lad is jumping for him.I can do every single throw in the kodokan syllabus almost perfectly against a dummy like that, but about 5 or 6 in a real match, its the same at the highest level.
This is a sport where people fall down when they get touched very softly? Meh, I hate these kind of peace loving hippies: 'lets touch each other and fall down, just to show people that fighting is stupid". Get a life.
No it isn't a lets fall down when he hits me sport. Its a martial art form used by Spetsnatz secret forces. They use certain points on the human body where nerves come together & cluster. Hitting these points is like hitting that special nerf point on your elbow everybody knows what I mean, that electrical prickle feeling if you bump your elbow against something & thats how this works. I have been practicing martial arts for many years. I was sceptic but it does work if done correctly.
@rigotto 90. This has not much to do with karate. The guy in the video is also training some spezna troops i believe. I wouldnt suggest calling him a fattie face to face....Saw him in a docu once. Really skilled, flexible guy. Never tried systema but it must be awesome. Many other elite forces use it these days as well.
There is a lot of power with the punches. mainly because you must strengthen your fists to be bricks, but the follow through. The punches hurt but if you stay relaxed your good.
I just took the a systema class. It's definetely different than martial arts systems. Systema is actually no system. Its getting out of the way and counterstrike. Moving out of the way of a knife and countering. it's ok
There's some stuff here where the principles behind it are good. Staying relaxed until right before contact, snapping the wrist, etc.(old school kung fu techniques, really)
But nobody is gonna get niptipped with a blade sweep down the front of their body and go to the ground all messed up and immobile. (at 0:17) Or get thrown 5 feet with a small punch while bear hugging (1:18).
some people think its fake? idiots, \it just different than other martial arts, it uses basics like balance and leverage. but it has alot of other elements in there too. yes some stuff has to be staged. all ma is. and this martial art gave me training that made me better at life, like football, school fights and top MMA fighters use this. and besides, it can't bew unrelieable if the spetnaz uses it and the marines are learning to use it as well. and it is real, i have been thrown like this
Im so sick of seeing ridiculously out of shape karate instructors. Makes martial arts look like a joke, in a fight against a trained opponent youre screwed if youre that overweight. Try fighting a boxer in that kind of shape. Its called cardio and youd better be able to outlast your opponent if he's not dumb enough to bumrush a blueberry figured martial artist. No disrespect its not about vanity but if youre a fighter or a martial artist you should be open for eliminating your weaknesses.
do you realize who the fat guy is. these guys are the best of the best Russian military. THEY WHERE FIGHTING AFGAN TERRORISTS FOR LONGER AND WELL BEFORE THE YANKS.the yanks gave them the gear to fight russia systema is a complete system for life not just a martial art. it's confidence based not competence based. spend $20 and buy "let every breath" and read it. Mikhail Ryabko (the fat bloke ) is now Captain of the Russian special forces and he created the modern version of systema....
There's not ONE person I know of that has experienced Systema first hand that didn't turn into a believer afterwards! Systema doesn't look fancy BECAUSE it is effective! American soldiers rely more on gear before skill, russian special forces rely on the men before anything else, their training is soooooo many more times tougher than anything any other country puts their boys through, you don't think that the russian elite's fighting system is realistic??? LOL
I trained system for a while and I can honestly say that I learned, nothing. Other than pointless breathing exercises and having partners do pushups on one side of my chest I learned VERY little that would actually be usefull in a street fight. Not sure how effective it is but I switched over to Krav Maga (this being a few years ago) and like it much more. To each his own I guess. Thanks for the vid tho.

Moving out of the way of a knife and countering. it's ok

what is this song called?

Mikhail Ryabko (the fat bloke ) is now Captain of the Russian special forces and he created the modern version of systema....

this is awesome.... what i would love to know i what the song is?
lukehoffmann351 1 year ago
