  • Okay, so you mean jaguars are for idiots?

  • a little more effort on your part and this vid couldve been pretty cool. just bad audio. id be interested in hearing a longer vid tho.

  • hi dude, have you changed the pickguard?

  • dank u mista...uhuh, uhuh uhuh...(actually quite nice, in a raunchy sort of way)

  • Hi!! there's a friend who wants to meet you, his name is Humbucker

  • Where's the locking nut eh? Guitars won't work without them FACT! Are they seymour duncans? Well I bet Trivium don't use THOSE! Appearances matter wheres your head? It isn't Satches so you're poor! I'm far quicker than you in my bedroom everybodies told so! ... There I just proved it nur! Theres more to music than fun you know theres technique and modulation and immature hand signs and swearing at paying punters and scaring away normals. Aaaand I'm spent! Hohner jt60 £179 worth a go? Haha!

  • @MrStrangediva to be fair, guitars dont need locking nuts. my guitar doesnt have one and neither does my mates, and they are all perfectly in tune thank you very much. seymour duncan... cant do metal... and you would know this because your big and famous and have endorsement deals with every company under the sun? didnt think so. record deal? nah, you seem more suited to the hobo look. and no, satch isnt the greatest. tool. everybodys told you? even men? wow. GAY!!!

  • Hang on you're going too fast is it Snorian mode followed by Pixiflydian or Pieholian with a flattened gsharp transposed to augmented diminished doobry firkins? I don't like it when there's no tab to tell me what to do..Where's John Mayer fit in in all of this? Are you endorsed? I'm confused! It doesn't fit my narrow bandwidth of Guitar playing rules so if I say I like it I won't be popular! You are doing bad things on the wrong guitar and you don't have tats and a long goatee! There I sedit Mr!

  • why would you make jaguar sounds like it has emg's and a floyd rose? This guitar is just not made for that kind of stuff.

  • @Agunforxmas Guitars aren't made to be played by one type of music. Boundaries will always be broken and people will adjust its image to suit their own. So many bands and musicians are known for using instruments and equipment that are not typically 'designed' for the type of music they play, yet it still happens, it still sounds good, and sometimes works even better than other things available. Music is music.

  • @Agunforxmas says who? quit sticking to what you think you should do. Be creative.

  • Do you mind telling me how you've set up your stock bridge in terms with the mute gimmick? Thanks (good video-i always knew the jag had it)

  • @sirpsychoalexi The mute fits under the bridge so you have to raise it a little higher and shim the neck with some card to compensate (if you like low action). This Mute actually worked, i drilled the body out and fitted a spring mechanism. I no longer have this guitar though, was going to take the video down but its been good entertainment reading the comments! ;-)

  • @FrancoAC It sounds like it's more of a "do what you feel" set up procedure. I was asking cause it's the spring/screw mechanism that is troubling me, specifically which way it is to face when inserted onto the plate and also how tight the screws on each side of the mute are to be tightened.

I think i nailed it last night and got it right, but i was just wondering if there are details on that particular screw.. it can turn to be a nuisance if not set up right, since sometimes it pops up alone.

  • @FrancoAC By the way, on the bridge do you raise the individual saddles/grooves up high to avoid buzzing? I mean what does your experience tell you?

Thanks for the feedback in general, it's been very enlightening.

    Viva La Jag

  • @sirpsychoalexi There is a mute set up on the webrocker higher evolution website, i just followed that. May have been on fenderjaguar/dot/net as well.

Yeah i've always raised the saddles high and kept the bridge lower. That way the grub screws are out of the way and the whole thing seems more solid. I always put vaseline on all the screws too. A lot of the buzzing is down to screws not being a tight fit.

  • Do not ever take this down! Its quality. Makes my vid look good. LOL 1!!!!

  • lol better audio quality would have given this video a huge boost.

  • sounds like ..............nope, it's just crap

  • Before I read your description, I thought you were a metalhead idiot. But then I saw you testing harmonics and typing with respectable grammar and I changed my mind.

    I suck.

  • @rootvalue Haha. Cheers dude.

  • This is fucking hilarious!

  • I know. I was gonna take it down but i like revisit for a laugh now and then.

My neighbours have moved out btw haha

  • @FrancoAC There's a similar one with a Teisco which is equally hysterical.

  • But yet you use a buzzstop? That pulls the tension up behind the bridge, therefore making it harder to budge the strings out of their saddles. The jaguar stock bridge is OK, I havent swapped mine out, you just have to get used to it.

But using a buzzstop doesnt prove your point at all

  • No i dont use a buzzstop, i had one on temporarily at the time of that video.

The buzzstop was most useful for me with a high output bridge pickup as it kills a lot of the audible harmonics behind the bridge. It has no effect on the saddles/bridge performance if the bridge is set up correctly, its pointless.

I need to update some of my videos to be honest but i've left them up as they seem to be still going strong.

  • Yeah.

But the stock bridge IS crap.

It's a great guitar but that's just the weak point.

It's no big deal though, because you can grab a perfect replacement from company called Mastery.

It's crazy that fender never took the time to follow up and fix what was an obvious problem.

Free market and all that I guess...

  • What a complete fucking tool.

  • The Mastery is way expensive though, you may as well save $100 and fit a tune-o-matic or fit a floyd rose and set fire to it onstage stage-diving into the crowd.

  • ужас!один шум!что это?

  • get some locking tuning heads and a roller bridge and its fine theres just certain finicky bits i love the jag and i still use one but the original stock stuff IS no matter what u say EXTREMELY hard to use ive got locking heads and a mustang bridge and it helps a lot

  • reminds of nirvana - endless nameless

  • The sound is still crap. thin and irritating. I can't stand the original jag sound

  • lol this sounds like the end of a nirvana concert lmao

  • indeed!

  • 1. thanks, maybe some of us would like a guitar that can handle My Bloody Valentine and Black Flag as well. 2. I'm trying to decide between a Jazzmaster and a Jaguar at the moment, so thanks a ton for showing off the tremelo system.

  • sunburst colour with black pickguard *,* looks awesome. and it didn't have to be modified to use! O_O

but one guy I know had lost of problems with his american reissue from around 2000. He had to change the bridge (and used tune-o-mati onec), throw out tremolo lever and put on buzz-stop in the other side of the bridge, as it was impossible to even set it up the way that it would work correctly.

maybe it depends on a particular single guitar, not whole jaguar series?

  • I was hoping that jaguar sounded as good as it looks. DAMN, I want that guitar! :D *needs to save up some money*

  • now THAT is putting a guitar through its paces! nice work!

  • yeah, but I'd like to see you do all that and then turn the distortion off and prove the guitar is still in tune.........yeah, didn't think so.

  • oh you need to turn distortion off to tell if a guitar is in tune? isnt that cute

  • No, not at all. But it IS impossible to tell when the vibrato is being pushed the whole time, and he's not playing actual chords.

    Douche.....

  • see thats how you stop bullshit

  • damn nice haha

  • fUCKIN COOL

  • Terrible video.

  • LOL.

  • its funny cause its true.

  • Jaguars arent for metal so this video is completely pointless.

  • Durrrr, HELLO? read the description. But while your here..

Why does the Deftones singer use one? How about the Stratocaster? Was it meant for Metal? NO. Then why do Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and million other Metal bands use them?

  • But what im saying is why would you want to. Their primary use is for shoegaze and indie.

  • No they're primary use for Surf Music :) .

And this guy does what he wants with his guitar.

  • yea, its his guitar dude, and they went through the grunge era with the mustang as well

  • Right whatever. Each to their own. Im just saying that in my opinion they shouldnt be wrecked to buggery like this.

And im perfectly aware of grunge, as it was the primary reason for me buying a Jag.

  • Because they knew Fender rules!!

  • i feel sorry for your guitar and neighbors alike. oh, and any pets if you have them.

  • 5 starred.

  • your neighbours must hate you........

  • just moved new area

    just moved new area mG

  • You should try a Mastery Bridge instead of that Buzzstop - they work fantastic, and everybody from Nels Cline to Sonic Youth is using them - way better than the stock bridge.

  • I think they are way way over priced. $160.00 lol? No, i dont think so. I could buy a Floyd Rose for that money.

    Thanks anyway.

  • but the floyds can take sooo much punishment theres a reason their priced that way you freaken beat the crap out of em and they stay in tune almost all the time

  • I love Jag's. I usualy buy cheaper guitars that it doesn't really make sense of why I use them but I'd pay a grand for a Jag.

  • their awesome because the pickups in the classic models are soo hot cause they were supposed to be used for surf but they have heavey peircing tone but they allways come with retarded bridges instead of simple ones like the tunomatic

  • Yeah, it's always a wierd quirk that they have but the sound is amazing and in theory you could always custom make a Jag with some sweet pick-ups and a tunomatic.

  • im trien to get a floyde in a an HH Jag but its just not the same cause the dragster pickups have no where near the type of capability that the standard pickups do so i dunno if its gonna be the same plus if i get a classic i know its expensive but putting a floyde in there would leave gaps in the hardware and that would just look bad so unless they freaken come out with a classic in hard tale im kinda screwed

  • Yeah good point, you'd pretty much have to hope they'd do that or start from a fresh peice of alder.

  • but overall Jaguars are awesome i just wish fender would accept player feedback and stop useing tremelo systems from the 60s!!...mind u they can keep that just make a pro model or sommin so ppl wont have to just stick with one model all the damn time.

  • I totaly agree.

  • i wonder if u could talk Leroy Fender into doing sommin like that? i hope so they need certain things fixed cause its all getting silly cause some of the damn parts are getting hella outa date

  • I think thier starting to realize that because alot of thier guitars they're trying to give it a vintage look and feel but modernize it, and they're starting to do bridge work on the strats and teles. So one can only hope.

  • i really pray they do it soon

  • jaguar rules!

  • what sort of strings do you use on this one?

I know having heavier strings (like .11s) really helps with tuning stability...

  • I use 10's on all my Jags and Mustang. I tried 11's but did'nt think there was a great improvement so just went back to good old 10's!

  • try 13s =)

  • nice haha. i've been planning on getting a Jag for some time now but unsure if it could handle anything out of Surf music lol. but now that i see this i'm convinced that this guitar is rite for me.

  • Thats cool dude. You would'nt think it reading all this crap on here lol but a lot of people have thanked me for helping them with their Jaguars.

If you do want humbuckers though.. i would check the new Mexican Jaguars or the Jap HH models.

  • you can make a "cat caught in a blender" sounds on any guitar - just turn the distortion up to ear-lbleed level and let'er rip. Damn shame you had to waste a MIA Jag on that racket. Go buy yourself a Slacktone record, and see what a Jag can really do.

  • Its a CIJ Jag, anyway who are Slacktone? Never heard of them. Do they play nice chords and fluffy melodies? I only bought this Jag coz Slipkn0t use them.

  • loser you should buy what feels right for you

  • Yeah but i got a free Cory Taylor mask with it, ya know?

  • ok but you should up humbucker pickups in the guitar you will get get a more fatter tone for heavy metal or tune tune down a whole step on every string

  • I was joking mate. I've got three Jaguars, 1 vintage, this one and one that i fitted a humbucker in.

No one is reading the description. Its not about my tone or playing, its about the tremelo taking abuse and staying in tune.

  • Hahahahah nice vid, Fran! :)

  • Lmfao. The negative comments i have had about this video are hilarious, considering people STILL are not reading the description.

I must make more of these video's just for the lulz. :O

  • lmao

  • saying*

  • bored

  • Man, i have one like this, and you have just destroyed her sound u.u

  • read the description.

he said the TONE is irelevant

  • He said that about the tone, but im just sayng what i heard, that's all

  • why?this noise is very cool.this is such a creative guitar..

  • Yeah, the guitar is cool, i have one like this, but i was talking about the sound

  • Every time I pick up my mij jaguar I like it more and more, and I can't stop playing it. I was also very suprised at how much I like the tremolo. A really good idea for jag owners is to replace the stock bridge with a mustang one, it fixes a lot of problems.

  • one of the best guitars in the world

the other being its brother, the jazzmaster

  • lol. U guys are such idiots, its demonstrating how good the tremolo is, not his musical ability.

  • Jesus, turn the gain down.

  • fuck you man, this is a DEMO OF USING THE TREM AND THE GUITAR KEEPING IN TUNE! Besides, he CAN play guitar. Just because he played heavy music on a jag doesn't mean he can't play. i found it pretty innovative.

  • Innovative is the key word my friend, thanks. Too many close minded people in this world.

  • I really liked that playing style... Like a mix between Sonic Youth and Babes in Toyland.

I've found that the tremelos on Jaguars, Jazzmasters, and Mustangs are really easy to use. You just have to pull the tremelo bar back up after pushing it down and it goes right back into the right tuning. People always whine about those tremelos, but the never try to find a solution for them

  • haha. not really, its just a demo to show that the tremelo system can take heavy abuse AND stay in tune.

  • You are a twit, Sir.

  • You are a twit, Sir.

  • I don't like your style of playing, but you sure found the magic of the Jag! You're on of those guys who doesn't need a plastic Ibanez to make hardcore stuff, and for that! I salute you1

  • yeah jaguar fucking owns..

  • to much distortion

  • how lovely

  • thats not nice to hear

  • No, but guess what? THE GUITAR STAYS IN TUNE!!

OMFG!! That was the point of the clip.

  • i just got a jag , and i cant block the tremolo , any ideas???

  • problem solved!!!:)

  • With the lock button?

If you go on webmaster offset guitars website there is a diagram showing you how to set this up. It is getting the balance right with the trem tension screw and keep retuning to pitch... untill the button just slides over to lock the trem off without force..

  • I think I'll get a warmoth neck and stick a locking roller bridge on there.

Cuz its all about the sustain

  • Sounds like a whirlwind of shit.

  • The sound is irrelevant other than to demonstrate the trem/bridge is getting some abuse... BUT RETURNS TO PITCH.

  • lol +1 for the humor factor at least

  • Im Thinkin of buyin a Jaguar. Wat Will i need to do to get it soundin good. Will it sound good with 12gauge strings on the stock

  • serchin for richard benson please ......

  • No kidding, I've never had a problem with the bridge on mine, I think people just don't know how to set them up right.

  • i think that actually the problem is these come from the factory with really light strings, and that combined with the short scale just means theres no tension on the bridge and the strings jump out. I'd say the answer is .12 gauge strings :P

  • I use .10s and have no problem. Maybe I just got lucky.

  • yeah, .10s should be fine, provided you don't set the action low.

Has anyone else tried the new classic player jag? They've completely fixed all the problems, and its one amazing guitar!

  • I played one of the classic player Jazzmasters, really smooth playing, really warm & smooth sound too. It was NICE.

  • I have the black MIJ Special Edition which has a Gibson-Tuneomatic-style bridge... works just fine... no buzz no nothing. Great guitar and superb workmanship... you can definately see that someone cares about what they are doing there. And I mean everyting... finish... fret jobs... setup. I've "inspected" mine quite a bit ;)

As soon as I throw out the stock pickups (I do on every guitar) and get some SDs it should be perfect.

  • Stock parts doesn't include a Mustang Bridge and a buzz stop roller.

  • Its not a mustang bridge, look at the saddles and the added 'mute' and buzzstop have no relevance to the bridge performance. So whats your point?

  • i'm gonna buy the same guitar

    jaguars kick ass!

  • peopl, read the mans description before making ignorant comments. he is simply demonstraing that the fender jaguar as well as a jazz master are bad ass guitars that will stay in tune after heavy use of the stock tremolo. well done!

  • Atlast! Thankyou kind sir. ;)

  • that was terrible :\

  • sounds like a dying cow

  • sounds disgusting!!

  • Yeah it does and whoever said i have cheap delay and overdrive on is completely wrong. Its a Jag going straight into a JCM 900 Marshall.

If you READ the description it clearly states the video is purely to demonstrate that even after heavy use of the trem the guitar stays in tune. When set up correctly.

Maybe i should post a video up using clean tones with something like "hey man, i'm Dave Gilmour"! in the title. *rolls eyes*

  • Jazzmaster and Jaguar= Perfection... My AVRI Jazzmaster stays in tune perfectly when using the trem. Even violently!

  • no offense but that is so drowned in delay and cheap overdrive that it demonstrates nothing about the tonal qualities of the guitar...

  • Second that.

  • go fuck yourselves, can you not read the fucking video info? fuck off

  • Does the whammy stay in tune well?

  • Yeah if you set it up right. The main problem area's are the nut slots and bridge saddles. Make sure these area's are lubricated and nothing obstructs string travel. The bridge should 'rock' as well, some people put tape around the bridge posts which does'nt help the floating system one bit.

  • One old timer told me to put surgical tubing around the post of the bridge on my mustang(not tape) it works great. Lets the bridge "rock", but it returns it to the right place. I had to shave the tubing down with a razor to get the right width.

  • Jazzmaster isn't a surf guitar but surf guitarist like to play with jazzmasters, Jazzmaster is probably one of the most versatile guitar in the world, it's not simply a "surf guitar"...

  • I prefer Jags myself but yeah, a guitar is a guitar is'nt it? You can play any style on anything, screw traditions.

  • beautifull guitar

  • Nope not close minded or naive, just a simple fact, jazzmasters and Jaguars are surf guitars, if you want to play death metal gothic solos on it your a bit out of you mind, go into a guitar shop and play that peiece on any guitar and ask them what guitar they would recommend for the job I can assure you that no guitarist would advise a jag !

  • so? does it matter if someone plays metal on a jazzmaster? i think it can make way for cool stuff to use things for purposes they werent initially intended.

  • Agreed.

  • ive got one you can shread on them, play jazz or punk. they're the most versaatile fenders you can get. guitar shop guys are like anyone else they probably never tried one but have to be so fucking traditionalist. everyone loves pre-cbs fenders because everyone else does but i've played a few and they're not that diffrent from any other guitar

  • Why did you buy a jag, its a surf guitar.. god

  • It was designed to be a Surf guitar....i know all about it, i wrote up an article on wikipedia about the Fender Jags history, upgrades and modifications.

Anyway, you've missed the point, its a FAQ "can you play any style on a Jag?". My vid clips demonstrate it is capable of anything even extreme metal.

For the record i use my Jag in an ambient band i play in, yet another style it is suited to.

  • "Anyway, you've missed the point" I cant see that anywhere in your description, maybe you should have pointed it out just a touch more

  • I dont think you initially read the description though did you? If you had you would have seen the point in the clip.

Your comment was close minded and naive, if you have nothing constructive to say why dont you go and post some comments on video clips of dog's chasing balls or something? "why did you buy a labrador? ...god" hahah.

  • wth!!!noone should play this stuff on a jag!!

  • hahah....i know its not the usual thing . I'm a big fan of Fender offsets and the main reason for a lot of my vids is to demonstrate if you set your Jag, Jazzy etc up correctly they are capable of most styles.

  • nice!! fuck those tripleOMG LOCKING EVERYTHING ibanez guitars

  • heheh....tr00 though innit.
