The issue is this simple - Booze it legal therefore by default cannabis should be legal. well the point really is why we have one set of laws for alcohol and tobacco and a different set for 'drugs'. That's where the hypocrisy comes in. To develop your analogy with cars, the government has minimum safety standards for cars, traffic laws, and a minimum legal driving age, but beyond that it is your choice when and how you drive as long as you don't harm others. The drug laws in this country make me sick. You got E, LSD graded as Class A and Mephedrone which is far more toxic than both of those yet it is Class B. A recent study showed that 1% of heroin in Scotland gets sized by police. You would need to seize 30-40% to seriously change the market. So either we need 40x the police, resources and tax to pay for a bit of improvement. Or we could try another more sensible avenue.
It makes no difference AT ALL weather cannabis is a class B or C drug. Demand, supply and consumption remain the same. The ONLY way of reducing the harms associated with the illegal drugs market is to regulate and tax the production and supply. Skunk usually refers to cross-bred cannabis strains. You get Indicas, Sativas and Ruderalis. Ruderalis has extremely low THC levels. Indicas and sativas vary hugely in strength. Skunk is originaly when you cross Sativas and Indicas to gain the best traits from both strains. It does increase THC levels but a strain called Mazar from South Africa is usually around 21% THC and is Sativa dominant.

Tobacco and alcohol are and were widespread though throughout our culture before the risks were identified properly, whereas other types of drugs (such as cannabis) are not.

It should be legalised. It is not as bad for the respiritory system as tobbacco. Alcohol is worse for the brain. Both of these drugs are addictive, in that users suffer from withdrawl symptoms. Cannabis users do not suffer from withdrawl symptoms, they are not bound by the drug they simply have a smoke at the weekend because they enjoy the feeling of relaxation. The scare tactics are not true. If they were legalisation would be the best option as the govenment could controll thc/cbd ratios.

Really don't know where I stand on legalising C or any drugs, but does anybody else hate it when people use alcohol and tobacco to somehow show how hypocritical society is? eg alcohol kills x thousand people, tobacco kills twice that, but cannabis, coke etc only kills so many thousand etc.
Kind of like comparing the number of deaths on the road caused by a Ford Focus to that of a 1965 Aston Martin, and concluding the Aston must be much safer.

well the point really is why we have one set of laws for alcohol and tobacco and a different set for 'drugs'. That's where the hypocrisy comes in. To develop your analogy with cars, the government has minimum safety standards for cars, traffic laws, and a minimum legal driving age, but beyond that it is your choice when and how you drive as long as you don't harm others. Lets decriminalize and regulate drugs openly. Portugal have done it, and drug use has fallen. surely you must be convinced?

Cannabis will be kept illegal, because the latest evidence is proving how dangerous it really is, such as the Lancet Medical Journal's 2007 studies proving weed-users are 40% more likely to get schizophrenia than non-users! Sweden has prohibition,and the lowest rate of weed use in Europe. Case proved.

yeah, but smoked in larger quantities, the "Skunk" you're talking about is not that potent. And cannabis tolerance comes very quick. So yes, if you smoke 1 joint per month, you'll get finely baked, more than if you had smoked hash.
But it's so good taht nobody smokes it once in a month!

Skunk usually refers to cross-bred cannabis strains. You get Indicas, Sativas and Ruderalis. Ruderalis has extremely low THC levels. Indicas and sativas vary hugely in strength. Skunk is originaly when you cross Sativas and Indicas to gain the best traits from both strains. It does increase THC levels but a strain called Mazar from South Africa is usually around 21% THC and is Sativa dominant.

Cannabis has never killed anyone where as alcohol kills hundreds of thousands every year. If they legalised cannabis they would be able to tax it and make the country better. Tobacco and alcohol are and were widespread though throughout our culture before the risks were identified properly, whereas other types of drugs (such as cannabis) are not.
Granted, I'm not against the decriminalisation of some drugs, but there is a reason for the way the law is set out in regards to alcohol and tobacco as they are now. (And also the reason for the government encouraging people not to smoke or drink.)

if you are reffering to a vaporizer, yes, i know what they are and have used one on occasion, i used to own a head shop so ive tried just about every method for imbibing weed. still think i get the best effect with the least problems from an ice cold water pipe. but opinions are like assholes, we all have one and they all stink except our own. vapes are nice but overrated and overpriced in my opinion.
