So, I wikipedia-ed Andre Dubus and it said he had died in 1999 and I kinda freaked out, especially cos it said he was an author. Then I realised the Andre Dubus you were talking about is the third Andre Dubus in the family and is very much alive. I then proceeded to laugh hysterically at myself. Thought I'd share that little happening. Yeahh. :)
@Troubledyellowclocks hahahahah. Actually, I met the one who died in 1999. I met the ghost of Andre Dubus. I'm a psychic, you see. Paranormal stuff. -Sam
When I write, I generally have this very good idea of where I want the story to go. I have plotlines, characters, a story in my head.
It's generally after I get through about half of it and I read back and wonder where the heck most of the main cast came from, and why the heck are they where they are. Yep.
I know a lot of the times that I write, the characters I'm trying to develop just start doing what ever they want and get away from me. That's probably why I've never finished any of my short stories because I end up frustrated with where my characters and the story went!

I'm ashamed to say that I've seen the movie and was unaware that it is a book. I should have known.

sorry about the coffee in your hair, that probably isn't very nice, and The House of Sand and Fog is a very good book.
