Neither Obama nor McDeregulation sit on any financial Senate committee, so injecting Presidential politics into the situation actually made things worse.

I think he handled that very well. He clearly wasn't trying to watch every word, with the "uhs" and the "ahs," wasn't on his stump speech, and wasn't on prompter. Reminds me of those halcyon days when grace and temperment under pressure didn't surprise you in a president?
