Really a very good number. Music composition by C.Ramchander s really outstanding. It seems as if Geeta Bali was most appropriately chosen for this role.More than beauty she is more sexy.
If you see the infra-structure available and the dance sequences available at that time, nearly 70 years, this was the best lyrics and dance steps. and Geeta Bali is always at her best. some of the sparking sequences were :-
1. Aaiye Meherbaan, baithiye jane jaan - Howrah Bridge
2. Jaane kahan mera jigar gaya ji - Mr. and Mrs. 55
3. and of course all sequences on Shammi Kapoor.
A great tribute to Shammi ... Well stayed tuned ... thanks

There was a slight error in my last comment. The name of the music director will be C. Ramachandra (1918 - 1982) and not Ramachandran. "C" stands for Chittalkar which was actually his surname. Another notable film of his is 'Ashaa' in which Kishore Kumar sang "Ina mina dika...."
Apart from portraying the excellence in performance of Geeta Bali and Bhagwan, this is also a demonstration of the singing prowess of late C. Ramachandran, the music director who sang the male voice in the name of Chittalkar (that stands for "C"). His is another not-so-remembered names despite memorable compositions in "Anarkalli", "Samadhi", "Yehudi" and "Azad" among others.
Saw this song in the 80s though I was only a child then, brings back good memories of my childhood. My parents loved indian movies and so do all my sibs, don't understand anyword cos we're africans but can sing every word of it, i was just dancing and singing this song, my kids were like mom what re u saying and before i know it they joined me in dancing....! Love indian so so much, its become part of my history...life!!!

same legend bhagwan-dada died in a 10X10 room,,with hunger,,without medication,,,my heart still cries for his sad ,unfortunate way of demise,,,,he gave us a unique, style,,,moments to cheer in every moment,,,and in return we could not even provide him a meal a day,,,,,,sorry bhagwan dada,,
I watched this movie "Albela" at Elite Cinema in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1959 or 1960. Since that time I liked this song and still I like it. More over it is a song beautifully played by Harmonica.
oh what a combination...lovely but simple beats of CR to scintillating steps....innocent and sleepy eyes of Geeta Bali, equally simple girl who gave generous company to the simpleton Bhagwan and made that film Albela a super hit!!! we lost her so early..only sweet memories of her simple and innocent acting is left for us like this

Beautiful, milestone song from C Ramchandran. Though C Ramchandran was stalwart of hindustani and karnataka sangeet but he composed this song with western rythem. People say this is the song which started western music in hindi cinema. That is why it is milestone song but beautiful neverthless

Indeed he is also a legend..........salute to his silken voice.........

@asifah300 , I still don't understand why this is so. It is not for lack of talent. We have wonderful young choreographers (we don't really need Lacchhu Maharaj or Gopi Krishna all the time, do we?) and dancers working in Bombay, but we never get to see them anywhere else except as a backdrop to some reality show or the other. Or is it a rule of nature that only the dross floats to the top?
Ramchandra Narhar Chitalkar (1918-1982). He received public notice as a good composer in Bhagwan Dada's "Sukhi Jeevan", and established a long association that culminated with the musical box office hit "Albela".

Always brings a smile on.....and the choreography is very "cute". No need for Farah Khan in those days, or a new costume for every line sung - yet VERY "SIMPLY" entertaining.
I love this song too.. It makes me think back to the Late Lali Vij's Sounds Of Asia TV Program and the time he ran that exclusive B&W of C. Ramchandra singing this song with Kavita Krishnamurty
I start tapping my feet automatically when this song plays

well, yes and no, in any case its a Tahitian carrabean rythum,
Subconti music had solid influence of Vienna Waltz, latinos, samba,
Brazilian Rumba, this unfluence lasted solid 40 years, of lovely melodies
& airs composed which lived forever, even today the entire subconti's music
is copied from the west, the hip hop etc a pure brutal commercial nonsense
for me & my friends, the real subconti's music is very rare nowadays.
raqib56 1 year ago
@537shaun
sorry, it is indeed a hawaiien rythum with modifications and subconti's
expressions " hawaiien a l'indiennen " today's music is Goddamned globalized,
and is genetically modified ,

I love this song too.. It makes me think back to the Late Lali Vij's Sounds Of Asia TV Program and the time he ran that exclusive B&W of C. Ramchandra singing this song with Kavita Krishnamurty
