  • I start tapping my feet automatically when this song plays

  • Use of hands is very effective - drum beating, clapping, rythmatic hand jestures -- simply superb.

  • enjoyable song and dance...love it

  • Really a very good number. Music composition by C.Ramchander s really outstanding. It seems as if Geeta Bali was most appropriately chosen for this role.More than beauty she is more sexy.

  • Nice copy of a well known Goan tune

  • GEETABALI.....she is beauty...sexy... I love this song....

  • great great song

  • Great Tapori moves by Bhagwan-dada, there will never be another Geeta Bali

  • Dear All,

If you see the infra-structure available and the dance sequences available at that time, nearly 70 years, this was the best lyrics and dance steps. and Geeta Bali is always at her best. some of the sparking sequences were :-

    1. Aaiye Meherbaan, baithiye jane jaan - Howrah Bridge

    2. Jaane kahan mera jigar gaya ji - Mr. and Mrs. 55

    3. and of course all sequences on Shammi Kapoor.

A great tribute to Shammi ... Well stayed tuned ... thanks

  • West Indian music? or Hawaian? No doubt great.

  • I HEARD THIS SONG WHEN I WAS HARDLY FIVE. IT BEEN OVER FIFY YEARS. DON'T KNOW I FELT WHEN I PLAYED THIS SONG. I WAS A LITTLE GIRL ALL OVER AGAIN. I COULD SEE ALL MY DEAD RELATIVES ENJOYING THIS SONG. THANKS FOR LOANDING THIS SONG.

  • This is GR8 AND DEADLY combination of Rajinder Krishan and C. RAMCHANDER. Two legends whenever came together, created shear MAGIC.Remember ANARKALI , ASHA(ena-meena -deeka),AMARDEEP, to name a few. Both Genius, and par excellence- today only chor ucchakke are becoming Lyricist and so called composers. Dr. R.K.SHARMA

  • There was a slight error in my last comment. The name of the music director will be C. Ramachandra (1918 - 1982) and not Ramachandran. "C" stands for Chittalkar which was actually his surname. Another notable film of his is 'Ashaa' in which Kishore Kumar sang "Ina mina dika...."

  • Apart from portraying the excellence in performance of Geeta Bali and Bhagwan, this is also a demonstration of the singing prowess of late C. Ramachandran, the music director who sang the male voice in the name of Chittalkar (that stands for "C"). His is another not-so-remembered names despite memorable compositions in "Anarkalli", "Samadhi", "Yehudi" and "Azad" among others.

  • In 1980 i saw this move 15 times......only 4 geeta bali...she is hot.....

  • great all comedians still today copy steps of bhagwan great

  • @Lyzakful That is nice.

  • @amilatan thats so sad, shocking

  • beautiful song and very beautifully enacted by Geeta Bali and Bhagawan

  • lovely song.. C Ramchandra.. what music and what lyrics. . miss these in todays music... i wish the composers of today learn something from the soulful music of the yesteryears

  • same legend bhagwan-dada died in a 10X10 room,,with hunger,,without medication,,,my heart still cries for his sad ,unfortunate way of demise,,,,he gave us a unique, style,,,moments to cheer in every moment,,,and in return we could not even provide him a meal a day,,,,,,sorry bhagwan dada,,

  • @amilatan u have got heart very less r like u.....respect for u

  • A very sweet and melodious song..........accompanied by the funny dance of Bhagwan.

  • remix remix pls ???

  • we wont have these songs again in Hindi Films :(

  • I watched this movie "Albela" at Elite Cinema in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1959 or 1960. Since that time I liked this song and still I like it. More over it is a song beautifully played by Harmonica.

  • Lovely song I ever heard, such a beautiful composition at that time

  • Lovely song I ever heard

  • Sridevi says she was inspired by Geeta Bali. You can see the similarities in their on sacreen mannerisms, especially in comedy and songs.

  • The most famous acting of Geeta bali and bhagwan Da in this song. Great !!!

  • oh what a combination...lovely but simple beats of CR to scintillating steps....innocent and sleepy eyes of Geeta Bali, equally simple girl who gave generous company to the simpleton Bhagwan and made that film Albela a super hit!!! we lost her so early..only sweet memories of her simple and innocent acting is left for us like this

  • Even after 60 years the song is still fresh. Amitabh Bachchan was always ispired by the dance steps of great Dada Bhagwan.

  • @247happy2bme Hai, thank u very mch. I wrote the song my self. It s eally a very good song.

  • C>RAMCHANDERA and lata jee have sung this duet superbly .in my college days this was such a populer song . thanks milliian times kitaabik sahib wha maza aa giya

  • Music has no region but still thanks to Op for this unmatch creation.

  • Film ALBELA had all fantastic songs by great C. RAMCHANDRA.

  • I guess this was supposed to be a humorous song.

  • @537shaun

well, yes and no, in any case its a Tahitian carrabean rythum,

Subconti music had solid influence of Vienna Waltz, latinos, samba,

Brazilian Rumba, this unfluence lasted solid 40 years, of lovely melodies

& airs composed which lived forever, even today the entire subconti's music

is copied from the west, the hip hop etc a pure brutal commercial nonsense

for me & my friends, the real subconti's music is very rare nowadays.

  • @537shaun

sorry, it is indeed a hawaiien rythum with modifications and subconti's

    expressions " hawaiien a l'indiennen " today's music is Goddamned globalized,

    and is genetically modified ,

  • im mad about this song..ever since i was born:)

  • ashifah u write true now this time fast and western musics time so u not says like that. our fast music and dance totally nearest our culture.

  • awesome dance steps

  • awesome song..still sounds so good and fresh..a bollywood classic..

  • mithil

  • HAHAHA...what's up with dance......???

    But a beautiful song !!!

  • @mruddhav better than your beloved hollywood in those days standards

  • 1951 :)

  • Never saw the video of this song. Thanks to youtube!!!

  • I love this song!

  • A song which is so naustalgic !

  • hindi is a beautiful language, especially the one spoken in old times in lucknow

  • No words to say!!!!

  • Super song. AS\tonishing how Bhagwan knew about Hawaian Dances. Amazing.

Great. So sad he died with poverty.

May his soul rest in peace.

  • What rythm, what life in the song !!! Can never be forgotten . Old is really GOLD !!

  • Bhagwan's family name was Palav and they were tailors by trade. After his film career was over, I remember seeing Bhagwan attending on customers in the family's tailoring shop on Dr Ambedkar Road (formerly Vincent Road) near Chitra Cinema in the Dadar area of Mumbai.

  • @tshrinivas Beautiful dance & bautiful song by Lataji & Chitalkar Ramchandra. Amitabh bachchan knows only one dance that was Bhagwan's Albela dance.

  • Very beautiful song.

  • Beautiful, milestone song from C Ramchandran. Though C Ramchandran was stalwart of hindustani and karnataka sangeet but he composed this song with western rythem. People say this is the song which started western music in hindi cinema. That is why it is milestone song but beautiful neverthless

  • Excellent post Kitaabik. Beutiful upload. Since my early days on utube I have enjoyed so many of your classic uploads. Thanks.

  • The young generation have many to learn from their seniors. This is why it is so appropriately known as "Old Is Gold".

    Dare challenge this argument.

  • I am a great admirer of S.D.BURMAN........I am a modern boy of 17yrs though I dont listen to nowadays juncs.....I have also heard many songs of CHITALKAR RAMCHANDRA because my grandmom was his fan and my grandfather is a bengali. Indeed he is also a legend..........salute to his silken voice.........

  • I dare anyone watching this not to boogey a little.

  • i like the dance specially that hook step

  • old is gold. And this son is the duet of two legends Lata Mangeskar and Chitalkar Ramchandra

  • Your comment reminded me of my teacher in my primary school who was rebelious and she choreographed this dance for older students..in strict Gandhi following school..she was my hero than and now..I am really happy for you that you had mom like that..too

  • @Devanbhatt1

What a heart warming story, but i have to correct one thing.

I am refering to my aunt, we call her mami jaan.

My mother is unfortunately no longer wtih us.

But even she could dance very beautyfull!

  • One of the best..

  • What a mind-blowing song, the melody, the rhythm, the dance pattern, picturisation, truly great.

  • This actress has such a sensual confidence. You can see how much effort it took her to act through some crazy moves, lol! LOVE THIS VID!

  • im tapping my foot to this song!

  • The choreography is great and so is the tune.....

  • So cute! It has quickly become one of my fav oldies video!

  • hey

    this is brilliant

brought a bright, radiant smile to my face on a grey day in London.

I am a radio presenter and a a friend of mine just sent me thsi document with youtube links of hundredes of songs.

This is gonna keep me happy for a long time.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • The ultimate compliment to this 'common' man Bhagwan's original style is that Amitabh Bacchan and Govinda have incorporated it in their dance moves.

Just watch the gentle rhythmic hypnotic dance moves of the ladies, none of this modern techno break dance crap

  • This is a Wonderfully Entertaining Film as a musical it is an exceedingly good

family orientated ' Picture ' with amusing

dance sequences , good fun for everyone

and some wonderful songs. So glad to find it on your channel. Thanks for sharing

  • QUITE TRUE..LEGACY

  • wow from year 1951 :)

  • this song is so dope its not even funny

  • Old hindi songs are so sweet !!! I love them.

  • when i was 6 this was my favourite song.mere maa baap bolte honge ye harami kitna halkat hai....ha ha ha

  • no body can match bhagwan's dancing style. He is a class apart.

  • now i know why bollywood is so much strong... becuaes of these gueniues guys in the past. who worked best and provide some high quality performances which are still unmatch... and have no comparision with todays studpid music and dance directors....!

  • @asifah300 ,yhese ppl wer friggin retards,nd da current day ones are too.

ma ears still hurt frm dis nonsense in dis video.

    :/

  • @asifah300 these ppl are friggin retards,ma ears still hurt frm dat shit i jus heard,nd ma eyes just popped out at dat crappy dance.

but yea,evn da crrrent day ones suk,so u wer kinda ryt....

  • @asifah300 , I still don't understand why this is so. It is not for lack of talent. We have wonderful young choreographers (we don't really need Lacchhu Maharaj or Gopi Krishna all the time, do we?) and dancers working in Bombay, but we never get to see them anywhere else except as a backdrop to some reality show or the other. Or is it a rule of nature that only the dross floats to the top?

  • very entertaining

    makes me laugh very much

  • lovely song....

  • Ramchandra Narhar Chitalkar (1918-1982). He received public notice as a good composer in Bhagwan Dada's "Sukhi Jeevan", and established a long association that culminated with the musical box office hit "Albela".

check wikipedia for more on him.

  • Geeta Bali most daring, graceful and beautiful actor of her time. Bhagwan is so graceful and charming. Hey did you notice Geeta is taller than him.

  • I LOVE SONGS LIKE THIS (said the with the top of my voice, did all hear ?, nevermind) maza lene do.......

  • Mesmerizing song. Brilliant work by the great Chitalkar. thanks for the upload.

  • is this hula by any chance? please reply i am really curious :)

  • bhagwan dada is such a gud dance

    i just love it

    thanx

  • muzicyeti ...... no offence taken!!! This is the poor man's opium!! and I am as poor as they come.

  • what a lovely song.bhagwan you are really great.

  • Evergreen! Even today, as you hear, it automatically brings smile on the face.

  • What a melody and beautiful sounding lyrics... today its just noise :(

  • And who knew Hawaii was really a part of India in not so distant past. :-)

(Before anybody takes offense on either side - relax, its just a joke)

  • So that makes Obama the first Indian-American president..

  • lol

  • Kya masti hai wah.

  • What a great punjabi accent.

  • Great songs of the 50's. No match to those from the present day ones"

As A Sri Lankan ( Ceylonese) I have had the privilege of listening to the many numerous harmonies of the days gone by. Lata, Rafi, Chitalkar, Talat, Mukesh Asha etc did wonders!!!

  • Bhagwan Dada was a great comedian and a very good dancer. Many actors of 70s & 80s copied his style of dancing. It is a tragedy that when he died not many people from the film world attended his funeral.

  • i see...!

  • you see...!

  • no one in bollywood can ever come close to the spontanity of geeta bali,no help from nowadays camera work ...she still holds the court.

  • See if u can bring the foll. song video or if they r here provide me links.

1.'Mooh se mat laga cheez hai boori, jhoot bolta hai tune pi nahin' FILM JOHNNY WALKER

Every time you hear and see this song, you feel the energy of the song, thanks for posting

  • bhagwan dada is always great to watch....amitabh inherited his dance style:)) great song... old is gold...

movie history , available, thanks to you, for all to enjoy.

  • Bhai kitabik, apne dil pura bhar diya. God bless you.

  • wow. what a song. simply awesome.

  • simply awesome...thnx

  • <3 this song..they also make a cute couple...plus geeta-ji and her smile r gorgeous:-)

  • Always brings a smile on.....and the choreography is very "cute". No need for Farah Khan in those days, or a new costume for every line sung - yet VERY "SIMPLY" entertaining.

  • CUTEE!!!!:-)

  • those old indian Movie Songs are very very beautiful Sounds to my Ears and my Mind.

  • Wow- finally found this song- thanks SOOOOOO much for uploading!

  • TRUE HULA HULA HAWAIWAN MUSIC. Awsome song. I like this song very much. Really make me feel like...SHOLA JO BHADKE DIL MERA DHADKE.

  • I love this song too.. It makes me think back to the Late Lali Vij's Sounds Of Asia TV Program and the time he ran that exclusive B&W of C. Ramchandra singing this song with Kavita Krishnamurty

  • love this song with titillating tunes

  • Such a cool song 5 stars!

  • waah ji waah ... kia baat hai
