God bless u man...ur lucky to be alive...i was stuck in an f3 in missouri a few years back n that was some scary shit...i can relate to how u must have felt...it puts a while new perspective on life when u look death in the face like that...glad ur safe n ty for having balls to keep the camera going n not screaming! Your one tuff dude! I screamed like a bitch the whole time
@tiki: the only one that was hurt around me was a women who cannot be seen in the video. it is miraculous that not more people were injured or killed.
@RMT: i think it already has been on the weather channel last week. as fir the cursing, just felt the video should speak for itself.
I was not prepared for this! I thought this would be another video of tornado footage from a safe distance. Unbelievable video footage. Can't believe you are ok. I noticed a car went by you and hit the brakes just as the tornado started to rip thru the trees. Were they ok as well? I don't know how more people weren't hurt/killed. This hit right as everyone was leaving work.
HOLY SHIT!! That is just incredible video. I was watching it out the window from the 6th floor of Tower Square (right across the bridge from where he was) and was running to the stairwell probably right about the time it hit you directly. I am speechless. Thank you for sharing this, just incredible. I am so glad you are okay.
@toobarific: i would not say i am naive about tornados (before or after this event) but i definitely have a better understanding of them after this. the road up ahead had greater risks and that was the reasoning for not moving.
You are crazy/naive for pulling over and recording!!!(great footage though) My radar weather phone app saved me this day. I was tracking this storm since it was in Pittsfield in the Berkshires.
Leaving Hartford earlier for my last courier trips to Holyoke and Mercy hospitals, I was driving like my ride was stolen and got in and out of Springfield 10 minutes before this happened. Thoughts and prayers to all affected.........
@Blueinfrno: Yeah I hear ya, at that point you really had no chance. Just so you know that was by far one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen.
Ryan, your video showed up on my FB page and I came here after reading many of the comments. You witnessed one heck of an incredible and sobering experience and survived. Thank you so much for posting it! I'm glad you are okay. :-) I kept wondering what happened to all of the people in vehicles near or over the river who were in the tornado's path after watching Channel 22's rooftop video on Wednesday.
@nepatriots:well since you are from the area you will know right where i was. the tornado was going to cross rt 5 at the double railroad bridge a little ways up from me. right before it crossed rt 5 though, it made a hard turn to the SE and picked up speed. i had no chance sir. had to stay there.
@Blueinfrno Considering you were in the direct path of the tornado, all I can say is damn lucky to have only a scratch. Real ballsy to by the way. I live in Agawam about 2 miles away from there and fortunately no damage or anything. But I gotta ask at what point did you consider "I may be in a bad spot right here"?
I'm so glad you had only received a minor injury from that experience. What an incredible video you captured. I believe I would've had a heart attack.
wow thats nuts, did it bust out your windows or somthing? looks like stuff was just flying right into your car

* I meant to say no choice, not no chance. But you should really think about vacationing to Las Vegas with luck like that.

Ryan, Today I saw some pics of Island Pond Road; not a pretty sight. Yes, it is quite amazing more deaths were not reported.
