I've always felt sorry for Youhei. Always. To all the comments talking about he's a bad person, he's not. Not at all, if you actually looked at it from a different perspective you'd see it. I felt there was more emotion with Sunohara then there was within Tomoya in Clannad. After story, not so much, obviously. No one ever took the time for Sunohara. He was constantly battered by his sister about how he's horrible and that he needs to step up his game. Mei is my least favourite character.
@hamitork I agree Sunohara is awesome! If people would see the caring person inside of him, he is great. I don't even think the creators of Clannad notice what a great character they made thats why the got rid of him toward the end and made his hair back to normal.

Before I saw this scene my view of Sunohara had gone from loving friend to somebody who cares about nobody but themselves. But at 2:30 when he explained himself; I felt pity for him, to me it seemed like Sunohara knew he couldnt protect Mei, so he felt his best friend - Tomoya - would be better suited for it.
I don't get why people dislike Sunohara?! Yeah he acted like a prat to Mei but he's really a loving brother and does care about her. This scene shows it. And it also explains why everyone loved Tomoya so much. He suffered but he doesn't bring anyone else down. He thinks of other people before himself. He really didn't have to do that for Mei but he did because he's very sweet. How anyone could say the characters are unlikeable is beyond me. :/

@BuzziMuzzi Well I suppose you can get better. Girls will always be somewhat weaker (in pure physical strenght and endurance) than boys, but it doesn't mean you can't fight as well as a boy does.
Fighting skills are mostly a matter of motor coordination and the only reason boys are generally better than girls at this it's because they practice it in school fights when they're young.
And, of course, be prepared to experience some pain when a true fight comes...

There are a few select dubs which sound okay. Ghost in The Shell, Black Lagoon and Cowboy Bebop comes to mind. Yet in each case, the original voices sound more than okay. They are God damn splendid. And Clannad... and Clannad does not even got a half decent dub by those standards. So I ask you, why would you not feel inclined to watch the original language? It has invoked so many strong feelings in people who've watched it, so how can you possibly question its quality?
And it is my freedom of speech to say that you are more gravely wrong than a snail racing Usain Bolt. Did you even watch the video? Or the Tomoya Vs Sasaki in your upper right? Have you ever, and then I mean, ever, heard a dub with such an incredibly vast dynamic range? The effort situtated into them, the complexity of each line, the manner of refinement. Saying that the English dub of this masterpiece is better, enrages me. It's trash, and does a little more than not preserving the originality.
My favorite character will always be Sunohara in everyway...but you gotta admit Tomoya isn't bad at all, especially after you finished seeing the complete anime!

Awesome true friendship moment right there, only badasses like Sunohara and Tomoya could properly demonstrate it; too bad KEY apparently forgot they have such a tight friendship and basically erased Sunohara out of the story after they all grew up, really, Sunohara would have been of great help for Tomoya as he was facing those hardships.
Sunohara is a true bro, the most underated KEY character ever.

There are a few select dubs which sound okay. Ghost in The Shell, Black Lagoon and Cowboy Bebop comes to mind. Yet in each case, the original voices sound more than okay. They are God damn splendid. And Clannad... and Clannad does not even got a half decent dub by those standards. So I ask you, why would you not feel inclined to watch the original language? It has invoked so many strong feelings in people who've watched it, so how can you possibly question its quality?

And it is my freedom of speech to say that you are more gravely wrong than a snail racing Usain Bolt. Did you even watch the video? Or the Tomoya Vs Sasaki in your upper right? Have you ever, and then I mean, ever, heard a dub with such an incredibly vast dynamic range? The effort situtated into them, the complexity of each line, the manner of refinement. Saying that the English dub of this masterpiece is better, enrages me. It's trash, and does a little more than not preserving the originality.

Clannad I'm my opinion is the best anime ever, an anime doesn't have to be all action like DBZ or Naruto or Bleach. 207 people know that. I rather have a serious anime than one with all action. That's why i think Clannad and Clannad AS are the best anime ever.
