lol your on crack. going down was the fun part. Just jog it. my buddy took a fall and tumbled a about 20 yards. Great times! because I jogged it on the way down, i manged to do the whole climb up and down in 7 hours.
I did ittt! we climbed from THE 1ST station! TO THE TOP. It took 16 hours total. started at 4am. got to the 8th in the evening. and we decided to go to the top. and we could come back down to the 8th around 7pm. phew. (we hung around at the top for sometime.)
jeez It Was Real Toughhh. It took me 3-4days to get recovered after I came hooome.
At around 7:26 you were right at the edge and I saw how deep it was. Was it possible for you to fall off? There wasn't a fence guarding it as well. Did you just stand right next to it, with the possibility of falling off? that looked scary o_O
Anyway, when I come to Japan, in about a year or two, I am definately climbing Mt. Fuji.
Awesome vid guys. I was going this year but may postpone til 2012. How did you work out which route was your descend trail? I've heard that it's quite easy to take the wrong one, especially if you're an Aussie like myself...
My advice to anyone who wants to climb Fuji. Be sure to take the right descending route. Most route signs are written in Japanese.
I met a group of Americans and Australians who took the wrong route and asked me what to do. They hired a guide who can take to Kawaguchiko route for 4000 yen per person. Poor guys!
anyone thinking of climbing fuji should DEFINITELY DO IT. I'm the guy who made this vid (this is my other account). It was quite strenuous, but there were so many other people doing it that it was super fun. There are tons of places to hang out and rest. Make sure you keep 55-70 USD to stay in one of the huts along the way. Then you can wake up at 4:15 am and catch the best sunrise ever.
hi Im planning to climb fuji on aug 3rg 2010. I am a bit nervous about the climb. Is the climb strenuous and did you have altitude sickness during your climb?
@sunetrabhatla I climbed it and altitude sickness was not an issue. Yes the climb is strenuous, and it takes ages. I climbed from Kawaguchiko 5th station (most common I think). There is a mix of zig-zag flat gradient tracks, stairs, and about a third is walking up rocks which almost require rock-climbing. The decent is not fun when your legs are exhausted, either. BTW u can buy small oxygen bottles for 1000yen at the stations - gives a bit of a boost when you are tired towards the top.
My aunt lives in gotemba!!omg!! And I climbed fuji too and I'm only like 13 !! And did u get the sticks with Japanese writings burned on it and stuff with the Japanese flag?
Thanks for documenting a route that you don't see much on Youtube. I've done the Kawaguchiko route from the fifth station and intent to do it again as a two day climb, but this time from Sengen Shrine.
But, this video might encourage me to try Subashiri route instead.
Absolutely beautiful :) I told myself Im gonna climb it, if I dont punk out. I've always thought it was absolutely beautiful. I am petrified of heights but I so want to do it.
This video was AWESOME! A friend and i are planning on climbing Fuji-san next year in July... what would you recommend and what path did you use? also... the music was wonderful! what are the names of the songs you used??? THANKS!!! ;3
We used the subashiri route from the town of Gontemba. You can get there from the shinkansen station by transferring to a local train. We climbed in early season, like the 2nd day of the season. I recommend you try and get there as early as possible because I have heard and seen videos of it being absolutely packed up there. Because it was early season, we were the only ones on the top of the mountain for the sunset. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
@fallingbadger Great Video, really inspiring!! Me and some friends are also planning to climb mount fuji. How early in season do you recommend we should go te be ahead of the big crowds?? We're planning to climb on the 19th of July in 2011.
excellent video guys... id love to try that... but iv no experience at all... doing my first mountain next week.. mount snowdon in wales, then ben nevis in scotland then who knows? 5/5 good job
really? its as easy as that? because fuji is like 4x the height of nevis. i did my first mountain 2 weeks bk, englands highest scafell pike.. go to snowdon in 2 weeks, nevis in 4. cheers :)
Have a very good pair of hiking shoes. If you wear tennis shoes, certain paths might wear a complete hole in the bottom by the time you finish going down the mountain.
mmm... i dont remember exactly. our bus stopped at Lodge 5 - and we all climbed to the summit with all the tourists ( thought there's only one route to the top) - lots of people !
Most of the lounges were closed when we were there. We climbed it the second day of the climbing season. I hear it's not very long though.
We did it early enough that we just showed up and they had plenty of room, but if you are doing it in the high season, you should play it safe and get a reservation. You can either get the number off of the internet or get a pamphlet at the 5th station and call from there. Our route had a TON of places to stay, so I think you'll be okay.
Love this song, nice vid!

which route would you recommend to take? i know there are different ways to go up different 5th stations....
im pretty fit... very much active and adventurous minded person.. so i wouldnt have no trouble conquering Mt Fuji....

As far as taking an hour rest at the huts on the way up, I hear it's about 500 yen ($5).
JohnPfeil 3 years ago
You wanna add a 0 to that buddy :)
Ganbacchau 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's just $5 to rest, I guess I could be wrong though. (500 yen = $5.14 dollars as of today)
To sleep for the night it was around $50 at low season.

My apologies, you are absolutely right! I mixed the rest part and overnight part up :)
