The thing is, Equilibrium is *almost* cool. Not that cheesy is always bad, but the action in it, while flashy, is...cheesy and doesn't follow logic in a way that satisfies the brain and stirs the emotions of the viewer looking for a thrill. The roomful of guards don't lift their guns until 2 of them are on the ground and Bale has done his flick-of-the-arms. Taye Diggs gives the corny wisecracks that are corny. Gun kata tries to be the thing but it ends up being rather silly. etc. Matrix wins.

And yeah, haha they are just movies... understand that the Matrix takes liberties such as, what happens in the Matrix happens in the framework of the human mind, (which is well done in the 1999 one and silly in the 2003 ones), so more fantastical things happen, like spoons bending. Story, script, style, Trinity-ness...are done better in the Matrix.

yep, sorta the point. but whos to say violence isnt bad? take WW2 for example, without it, hitler would have succeeded in his "final solution" to the "jewish question" and there wouldnt be nearly as advanced technologies now adays. there wouldnt be any nuclear power much less medical technology, a lack of protection + weapons for our soldiers, we'd still be in the depression, with much more advancements in addition to those. violence isnt always bad... most of the time it has a purpose.
are they really? heres some questions for ya, lets see what u really know about wars. How many people died from wars and genocide in the 19th century vs the 20th century? what was the largest leap of population of humans? what stopped the holocaust? what gave YOU independence? What is the book of Revalations about? answer those and get back to me.
If you like war for its own sake then you are really different. Dont know what people died when, everyone should be able to die old in their bed regardless the century. Yes, it was war that stopped the holocaust, but that was not what they were fighting about. I gained freedom through diplomacy among my people. I´m not christian so I dont care about the bible.

The music sounds like it comes form blade 3. It fits perfect with this vid. And I rate Equilibrium up there with the matrix movies. I love the gun ballet at the end of the movie it was done perfectly.
I see where the guy directly below me is going, the movie had a good story in my book but he seems to have a more refined taste, to be honest I loved the godfather about as much as I did the AvP movies ^^ that undoubtedly means I have pretty bad taste however I have to say this movie was the second best one ive ever seen and while Ive never heard this song as a match for it it does match pretty well.
As for the possible connection with religion. Well, many totalitarian societies could be regarded as religious societies (cult of personality type of thing). Well. This movie was, without a doubt, amusing. The action was entertaining, and the suits they wore were cool. And that's about it.

You know, "1984" lovers as me shoudn't lap it up. It's nice film to see, but it's just a shootout based on 1984s climate. "Equilibrium" is primitivised for masses to like it. "1984" is a serious thing ;).
im soo happy to learn that im not the only one who has figured out that this movie has common qualities with 1984. and a bit (the book burning) with farenheit 451. it gives me hope for the future.
Yes, story is little bit "borrowed" from "1984" but "Equilibrium" is very primitivised for contemporary western public. It's more a show than something like "1984" :P.
I have to comment. I don't usually enjoy "music video tributes" of movies. All in all the they tend to be cheesy BUT... this is an exception. This was really put together well. I loved this movie.. and this montage was (for lack of a better phrase) Fucking Awesome!

You know, "1984" lovers as me shoudn't lap it up. It's nice film to see, but it's just a shootout based on 1984s climate. "Equilibrium" is primitivised for masses to like it. "1984" is a serious thing ;).

im soo happy to learn that im not the only one who has figured out that this movie has common qualities with 1984. and a bit (the book burning) with farenheit 451. it gives me hope for the future.

I love this movie! It IS 1984, but without the depressing mindfuck at the end.

Yes, story is little bit "borrowed" from "1984" but "Equilibrium" is very primitivised for contemporary western public. It's more a show than something like "1984" :P.

I have to comment. I don't usually enjoy "music video tributes" of movies. All in all the they tend to be cheesy BUT... this is an exception. This was really put together well. I loved this movie.. and this montage was (for lack of a better phrase) Fucking Awesome!
