In 1978 I was a college undergraduate. I remember seeing the Feinstein press conference live on the TV in the cafeteria. As a young gay man I knew exactly who Milk was as well as Moscone. I still remember the screams from the reporters at the press conference when she announced the news.
The execution style murders were bad enough but when White was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter instead of murder, we knew how little value this country put on a gay man's life. At least it's better now.
